I end up not getting the car. It was uncomfortable to have biometrics taken to rent a car and to catch the agent taking pictures of my documents with her personal phone. The deposit of 14,000 (fourteen thousand) dollars was excessive to say the least. The insurance they offer was also excessive in price 90usd per day but glass and tires were not covered. Why do they need an airplane ticket in order for me to rent a car? Do I need to fly in ondee to drive? I do not understand why they needed to know my travel itinerary. My flight was delayed by 2 hours due to bad weather. I arrived in Atlanta at roughly 10:30pm and made it to the Fox/Europcar desk at 10:45pm. There were no service members there. After waiting for a couple minutes, I asked an employee of a different company at a neighboring desk and they said I would have to locate the office downstairs in the garage to pickup my key. After making my way downstairs and locating the office, I arrived at exactly 11pm as two employees were exiting the office. When I told them I was there to pick up my car, they said they were closed, the computers were shut down, and there was no way to go back into the office and get the keys for my rental. They then told me that my reservation was nonrefundable. I had to go back up to another company's desk and rent a car from them for my 2-hour drive. The complete lack of customer service was the worst car rental experience I've ever had. Lesson learned.Reviewed 11 Sept 2024

They overbooked their cars which lead to them saying there was no car available for us. If I didnt put up a fuss they would not have figured something out. They called a different rental company a few minutes drive away, however it ended up limiting our daily usage from unlimited to only 200km/day. The car was clean, comfortable. But when I booked, I paid 85$ as quoted and when I got to the counter to pick up the car, I was charged another 200$ that would cover 150$ as a "return fee" that was not disclosed anywhere because I was picking the car up at San Diego and returning it in Phoenix. I don't mind paying a fee as long as it is disclosed ahead of time and I can fully make the decision to rent or not, by comparing with other services. The counter representative only explained that it would be refunded once the car was returned. I returned it the same it was rented, (Sat 5 of sept) and the money has not been refunded (as of 9/9 9:29am). Maybe I have to wait a little longer to get the refund but there was a lack of clarity from the representative to explain where in the contract that I was to sign, it stated that it was going to be refunded. I asked how I could be assured that the money was going to be refunded and the only response was that it would. The one thing I will praise was the car attendant that received the car in Sky harbor airport in Phoenix, I did not get his name but he was very helpful, and guided me out of the rental area at 11pm. Very kind of him. For safety, I will write to Fox to let them know that as I was braking in the winding downhill road towards Phoenix, the car wheel was trembling and I had to descend at less than 50mph to be able to keep the car stable, probably an issue with tire balance. Staff was actually friendly and efficient this time. We often hesitate to rent from Fox because they have some of the slowest staff, but this time was quite quick. We got a GREAT value for our SUV and paid less than half what we would have paid from another agency. The car was clean and in great working order.Reviewed 29 Aug 2024
