First off, communication between the rep and I at pick up from the Calgary terminal went well. Overall the gentleman was accommodating and courteous. However my interaction at the drop-off location didn't go as well. I had planned to drop the vehicle off at 4pm on a Saturday at the McPhillips St location in Winnipeg, MB. I received a call from a Hertz rep from McPhillips stating that their location closes at 4pm however, I could return the rental to the Erin St location as they close a little later and stated to me that there would be no extra charges made to me if I decided to drop it off there instead. 4pm hits and upon arrival at the Erin St location, a rep named Yuting came out as I pulled in to inspect the rental. After a quick inspect, it was claimed that I chipped (small rock chip) the windshield, the windshield that already had a rock chip in it at pick up. I advised Yuting of this and she asked me to email my video/photos from pick up to her for management review and since, I have had received zero communication from Hertz. My credit card was authorized for a specific mount, including a “damage deposit,” that authorization sat on my card for a week until it fell off. Now, instead of charging my card the authorized amount I signed the contract for, they’re charging my card small unauthorized amounts that equal and surpass the original authorized amount I signed for with absolutely no communication with me. I book rentals on a somewhat regular basis but I don't normally book rentals with Hertz, as i normally do with Enterprise and have never had an issue... Made a booking reservation 20 hours in advance. Once I got there, I was told they aren't accepting any booking reservations made in the last 24 hours. Was stuck in a hotel for 2 days, waiting on a vehicle. Horrible experience, and was still charged for the extra insurance with no way to call someone about it.Reviewed 5 Mar 2024

Pros:The saff was very tired - check-in around midnight. They rather work other stuff than take care of the customers.Cons:The staff could have been more interested in the customers. But when you already are the largest rental car company, why bother with the customers?Reviewed 20 July 2019

Pros:Staff should have taken care of my car switchCons:I was given a monster truck-5.7L engine. Fuel sucker. They said I had got the managers special. Then when I asked for a smaller veh, and after waiting minimum 45 min on line, they said I would be up charged roughly $120 and have to wait another 40 minutes or so-Reviewed 16 July 2019

Cons:I was charged for a damage I didn't do. It seems that attendants do not thoroughly check for damages, and then the next customer has to pay for someone else's damage. I noticed this because I DID find a scratch on the car initially and reported it. But missed seeing the chip on the window. Lame.Reviewed 15 July 2019

Pros:Georges (sp) the agent who handled our transaction was excellent and due to some problems upgraded us to a larger vehicle at no additional charge. He was very knowledgeable great to work with.Cons:My only complaint was taxes and fees added an additional 25% or more to the cost of the car rental and it would have been nice to know this before getting to the rental counter.Reviewed 11 July 2019

Cons:Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Had a prepaid reservation which they did not honor (at night). I had to rent a last minute vehicle from another location for triple the price as it was the other company’s last one.Reviewed 8 July 2019
