Ron, the person who took me to my car was very personable. I was given an Avis Car & had to return for a Hertz car. That was acceptable and the lady who checked me out of the garage said she'd give me a fuel voucher for my inconvenience & to return the car as close to empty as possible. the line was long at pick up, once it was my turn my agent was super nice and engaging. A very good experience. My car was average in comfort and cleanliness but worked for a quick weekend rental. At check in, the agent told me that I needed to select at least the base level of their protection products (a loss & damage waiver) because my auto insurance would not cover me. That didn't sound right, and I tried to decline, but I was told that I needed to select one. I eventually did after much back & forth. After doing research, I learned that my auto insurance did indeed cover me and I could indeed decline the product, but when I called Hertz to try to get the coverage removed they would not help me. I talked to at least 2 agents and 2 supervisors and waited on hold for hours. I was told the only way to get it taken off was to drive back to the rental location 2 hours from where I was staying. Both the deception at the counter and the terrible customer service was a major disappointment and but a damper on my trip. I will never use Hertz again.Reviewed 21 Dec 2021
