Pros: Who knew you had to go to San Antonio to find one of the best hotels in Texas! It's modern luxury at its finest. Located in pearl district, hotel Emma sits center stage in a very charming environment. What was once an old brewery is now a cozy hotel with modern luxury finishes. The service matches the 5 start prices and interior. Highly recommended!

Pros: My room was very nice and had everything I needed for the week. I had a fully size fridge, microwave two desks and a separate room. It was nice to walk outside the hotel and be directly on the Riverwalk with great restaurants like Macy's, Ritas on the River and Iron Cactus just a few steps away. In the evening the hotel offers three free adult beverages with "snacks" but it could easily be a meal. We had chicken strips, salad, pasta and a baked potato available most evenings. The Air Force sends me here for training once a year and I look forward to staying at the Drury Plaza.,

Pros: I was very surprised that not only did I get free breakfast with my stay but also free dinner (buffet) and 3 free happy-hour drinks each day! The staff was friendly (sometimes almost over-friendly), and the location was perfect. Highly recommend.

Glasses as opposed to plastic cups would be preferred (for the environment), and a safe to lock up valuables would have been nice. (I prefer not to have to take my passport with me everywhere.)

Pros: We are moving from coast to coast during the COVID 19 crisis. The Gibbs Hotel (across from the Alamo) was not just open, they were extremely welcoming and caring within the necessary restrictions. We had the most beautiful room ever overlooking the Alamo. Although beautiful San Antonio was closed during the pandemic, we will not forget our stay at the Gibbs. It makes things so much better when everyone is worried and stressed to have a place where they not only remember their history, they preserve their beautiful hotel with all the modern amenities. This is a 5* property with 5* staff.
Cons: As a downtown hotel, they have parking in a city lot which is certainly going to be very busy and crowded in normal tourist times in downtown San Antonio.

It was no where near a $200 a night room. From to moment you arrive you are on your own to unload your bags, drag them in the hotel and then hopefully find the lobby to check in. Which is on the second floor. Everything is expencive like you would expect but their is little to no staff to help you. I would never stay at this hotel again.

Pros: Staff was unprofessional. Check in was at 3, we got there at 7 and the room still wasnt ready. While we waited for 45 minutes we had to get dressed in the public restroom and my girlfriend had to straighten her hair in the hallway because there was no outlets in the restroom. After we finally got our room we had to rush to the spurs gsme that we had planned and ended up missing the first quarter all because of the staff at the hotel. We decided to switch hotels the next day. Other than that the hotel was really nice looking.

Cons: Bed corners are very dangerous, I end up with bruises because bed woods expand from mattress and you can hit your legs easily unless you are very careful. I had the opportunity to talk to other guests and they complain about the same dangerous corners. Bathroom have to many gabs on counter and your personal products can fall while cleaning is happening and you will never find them. If your leave something you have to go to a website to file lost and found. That is very far from what is the main reason of hotels, customer service...... Very poor in that part. Most rooms the city view is the windows of the next building.

It was very dark, although they wanted a certain style (not sure exactlybwhat it was, old, Mexican, historic) they didn't pull it off very well. The carpets were dirty and dull, the room was musty and very dark. Pros: This bad experience had ever happened to me and my family before. I will never use again KAYAK again to book my reservations. Result, they have this "Getaroom" subsidiary with a poor description of their booking application, and it scammed you before you know the transaction has a nonrefundable policy until it is too late via your email confirmation. I called them, my credit card, agent, and the hotel. None of them were in the good customer satisfaction attitude to refund my money, cancel, or reschedule the booking transaction. Be aware of using them to book your reservation before it is too late. Anyone can make a mistake some time, but this Draculonian thirsty-blooded camming business does not care for you. Pray to Lord, this kind of business entities does not prosper any more in the traveler's economy.

Pros: Central Location: Beautiful 150 year old historic hotel, literally across the street from Alamo, Numerous attractions, Riverwalk Mall, Ripley's, Wax Museum, Guinness Records, etc.... Short trolley ride to Historic Market. We used it as base of operations. Bought all-day passes to attractions and walked back to hotel to cool off/swim when needed. Lots of food nearby too. Hotel staff gave great service too. Kids loved all the museum like stuff in the hotel. The bar has a mirror with a bullet hole next to it they say Teddy Roosevelt shot in it on a bet when he was there recruiting his rough riders. Been here several times. It is our 'go to' spot for San Antonio.
Cons: The parking is very expensive. Thirty dollars per day - but it is expensive in the entire city and you do have unlimited in and out privileges. The hotel is really old so it has a few rough edges. The pool tiling needs a bit of repair, some of the doors stick a bit, the elevators are small, floors are a little uneven and a bit sloped here and there, etc. It has a lot of "character", but I guess refurbishing an old hotel is like restoring an old car, you never quite manage to get all of the rattles out of it.

Pros: I had reserved the rooms for adult children, spouses, their adult children who came for a family celebration. The all liked the Menger. They found staff to be helpful. For one of them, the room next to them had a noisy guest. The hotel moved my family members to another room where they had the quiet nights they needed. I was impressed by the ease with which that switch was accomplished. Parking staff was helpful in tending to my car when I came to meet & pick up family who stayed there.

We where gone the entire day and come back to the same mess we left that morning... At 250 a night plus 30 a night valet parking This should have never happened. That night I went to drink a water bottle the staff provides for you in the room and there was no seal on the lid on either bottle. The cleaning person didn't even bother to change our water bottles. just filled them up with tap water and called it a day. If you are looking for a clean room with basic hotel services I would look past this place!!

We call the front desk, Luis said he was alone and would call us back in 10 minutes. We waited, 30 minutes went by...nothing! We go downstairs Luis says I can't change the sheets because I'm alone and that we would have to wait 30 more minutes until someone else came in for a shift change and then he could help us. He said he could not give us another room either. And we paid for a King bed with a sofa bed. No sofa bed and no King bed. We say no we can't wait that long it's already been an hour and half. Our son needs to go to bed and this is not ok. We will go somewhere else and we need a refund. He says we don't do refunds, the 3rd party you paid can only do that. LIES! He said he checked us out and the 3rd party would see that so they would refund it. He then tells a housekeeper who is cleaning, hey I need you to watch the front desk, I'm going to be in the office for a long time!!! So he just told us he can't change our sheets but he can go to the office and leave the front desk! We leave I call the 3rd party and tell them what happened they call the hotel to verify. The hotel staff lies again! Francesca says no they are still checked in here. Meaning Luis never checked us out! We called again today and Ral said yes we can refund you, I am available to take the 3rd party call to verify. Then Ral lied to the the 3rd party folks and said, they stayed here longer than 2 hours so we can not refund them. So they lied again because the hotel is in charge of the refund, even though they said the 3rd party is! Then Ral lied about us staying 2 hours! We checked in at 10:15 and left at 10:57. They are scammers here and the rooms are disgusting and it looks like a 1920s haunted room. They refuse to give the refund so I will reach out to upper management to have this resolved. Completely unprofessional and a huge lack of customer service. The hotel is outdated and it has the worst staff possible.

We asked housekeeping in the hall on our way out for more pillows and not only was the gal we spoke to obliging, but she asked if we wanted soft or firm. The pillows were waiting when we arrived back to the room. We loved that the flooring was not carpet...that gave the feeling of it being even cleaner plus it would make it more hypoallergenic or those with allergy problems. The icing on the cake was the complimentary bottle of champagne they delivered to our room for our anniversary.

Cons: No hand rails in the bath tubs/shower. Fell twice getting into and out of the shower. Sides of the tub are very high. Too many children running around the halls unattended, noisy. No frig or micro wave in the room. Onsite food and drink is very expensive. Ice machines are far apart on the floors. no vending machines for late night drinks/snacks. Valet parking is very expensive. View was nothing spectacular because of the trees surrounding the hotel.

Pros: Check In was easy. Hotel room sitting area was actually very comfortable and functional to use, unlike most average hotel suites. Location was great. On the Riverwalk plus just 2 blocks from literally everything. Self parking lots were super close as well, if you don't like waiting for the valet everytime.
Cons: Hotel desk staff were business friendly, but it did not feel genuine. Which is the opposite of everyone else we met in San Antonio. This was one of the friendliest cities we've encountered!! Also the tub in our room did not drain properly, so you stood in water while you showered and the faucet was loose and spun all the way around.

Pros: The suite was great - nice sitting area, spacious bathroom, good bedroom and everything worked perfectly. The hotel's location is directly on a loop of the riverwalk which is good because it puts you right into the attraction, but is not on the main section so it's much quieter and easier to find a dining place. Parking is available across the street from the hotel and the street itself is not as busy as those nearer the Alamo.
Cons: Parking at the hotel is a ridiculous $36/night and they charged for two parking spots for our two motorcycles even though we actually had both bikes consolidated out of the way in the valet area not even in the parking garage. That was irritating. The hotel staff were polite but very cold and decidedly unfriendly. Don't believe I did anything to be offensive or difficult - I didn't even argue about the parking issue - but all of the desk staff (two in the evening, one in the morning) gave the impression they had much better things to do than speak with me.

Pros: Right on the RiverWalk, Hotel Contessa is luxury meets romance. My sister stay here on spring break and had a wonderful time. The staff was helpful and the city is definitely tourist friendly. Filled with history, charm, and luxury, downtown San Antonio along with the Hotel Contessa were great for our girl's getaway.
Cons: Although the city is tourist friendly, we did got lost. Also, the Hotel Contessa needs to hire more people on their housekeeping staff. During our stay, housekeeping forgot to clean our room one day. Other than that, things were great.

Pros: Made a special stop at the river walk on our five day trek from Pittsburgh to puerto Vallarta Mexico. Stopped to enjoy the beautiful view and exeperience the river walk. The resort was absolutely gorgeous. Unique with design, very friendly conceierge, and beautiful room layout.
Cons: Our one and only critique, and rather silly at that, after pulling in with our vehicle and stopping at the front valet, the attendant seemed almost shocked when we said, yes we would like you to park the car, and replied with an almost doubtful "are you sure? Wouldn't you like to hear the prices?" Though I'm sure he was just trying to do his job and avoid later frustration, the tone in which he asked us the question was borderline offensive. Young man if we can afford to stay where we are staying we certainly assure you we can afford to park.

Pros: THE staff was very accommodating and very nice. Everything was provided before I would ask for it. Overall, a great experience . Love the old Spanish charm that the hotel is made off. Very charming ambiance.
Cons: The session that I attended in San Antonio finished every 2230 in the evening. I did not like that the hotel restaurant is close early like around 2200. I wish the restaurant is open 24 hours. I also wish that there is a Starbucks inside the hotel for the convenience of all the hotel guest.

Cons: This hotel is not how it appears online. It is an old property that has had a minimal renovation. The rooms are old and musty. Mattresses are worn and soft. Carpet is old. We walked in the room and immediately knew we couldn't stay 5 nights. We went right back to front desk and told them it was not to our satisfaction and they refunded without question.

Cons: I know I am travelling during the pandemic, but this hotel had the least of all that I have stayed at, all Marriott brands. One towel in the room. I had to ask for a hand towel and wash cloth. The front doors were always locked and you had to use your key to enter, probably because only one staff member on duty. The room had a light out in the shower and the TP holder was about to come off the wall. No grab and go bags, no food, no pool or workout facilities, no shuttle service. One set of the double slide fron doors barely opened to let me and my bags through. This did get fixed the last day. The hall on the top floor carpets where filthy, with streaks of something spilt. On my last day they had a rental carpet cleaner by one of the staff members come and clean the floor. However, it didn't make much difference because the carpet was still dirty looking after they left. After talking to another guy staying at another brand, the management at this location needs to step up to make the stay better.

Pros: Everything was good, and it was a surprise. I went in thinking it was a real dive, based on the reviews I read after booking my room. I was there for 3 nights and I cant complain about a single thing, rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, staff were really friendly, and it looks to be quite a new motel, or has been recently renovated. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone!
Cons: Cant say anything bad, it is a 2 star hotel that is more like a 3 star. The rates were not cheap, but seeing as there was a convention in town, it was a whole lot cheaper than nearby hotels. If I had to take a guess, some bad reviewers either got some real bad staff attitude or they expected 4 star service.

There was a puddle of water in the middle of the floor. They offered me a room on the second floor where the Wifi was better but even to my male nose, this room smelled stale. I decided I'd seen enough and many thanks to Kayak for getting me out of this mess and into the Best Western Sunrise Suites (1 block away). Same price range and a high quality hotel.
