San Diego hotels in Midway District

Pros: Nice staff, great location, nice rooms, clean hotel in general. Good breakfast area and selection.

Pros: We requested and received a very quiet room. The room and hotel overall were very clean and the staff friendly. Free breakfast options included steel cut oats, no-crust quiche, and waffles. We had the oats, which were good. The fresh fruit was also high quality: oranges, green apples, and bananas. We didn't try the pool.

Pros: Located close to airport for flights out. Located close to public transit and Old Town District.

Pros: Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Sheraton. I stayed in the Bay Tower. The hotel was very quiet and relaxing. My room had a great view of the bay and the balcony was large. The hotel is located closer to the airport, so you don't get a lot of street noise or foot traffic (which adds to the quiet/relaxed vibe of the hotel). The room was large/spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was spacious. The room was very well decorated. The staff was very friendly and professional. Initially, I was placed in a room on the 2nd floor which is the lobby level, i.e. ground floor. When I got to the room, I didn't like the location, so I called guest services and requested a new room. They were more than accommodating, and moved me to a higher level.

Pros: Parking is $30, which seems to be the norm in California! The deposit required on the room was about 80 dollars more than the actual room called cost me. The staff seemed rude when I decided to pay this in cash rather than the normal credit card. The next day at checkout they took about 20 to 30 minutes to "check" my room and make sure I didn't take a ten dollar candy bar. Then finally paid me my cash deposit back in small bills so I felt like I was going to a strip club. Not to mention this is next to a Navy Base with constant helicopter traffic. As a combat veteran on an anniversary date of a brother's death the helicopters reinforced some horrible memories. The one pool we found was in good shape. Everything is super expensive there and they really like to charge you for any fee they can. I would not go back nor recommend it to anyone. I actually left a night early and forfeited my paid night because I didn't want to be there.

Pros: It was close to the airport as well as not far from where my friend lived. She was able to stay over with me at the beginning and end of my visit. She picked me up from the airport and we toured around, stayed over the first night and then went to her home. On the last night we toured around near the airport and stayed over again so I could get an early morning flight the next day. She took me to the airport for the flight as there was no other way to get there.

Pros: Location, location, location... Right off the I-5, 24 hour denny's a short walk away along with a great burrito place. There were other opportunities only a short distance. Good staff, well kept rooms, simple and to the point.

Pros: When we checked in, we were hoping for a non-smoking room, but were placed in a room that had obviously been used by a smoker. I almost never complain, but had to. My kids were coughing and complaining about the "gross" smell. The staff was very friendly and accommodated our request right away. The second room was the polar opposite: very clean, comfortable, and pleasant.

Pros: Seaworld, zoo, safari park, downtown are 10-25 mins drive. If you are looking for visiting places, and do not care much about luxurious stay, want to save some money, this is the right hotel.

Pros: Excellent housekeeping. Friendly, efficient staff. Great location (ten minutes walk from Old Town Transit Center, close to Sea World and Mission Bay). Plenty of good choices for food in the area. Excellent value for San Diego.

Pros: The room looked updated and clean. No issues with cleanliness whatsoever. The room had everything we needed. Parking is free!! Even though it gets packed with cars every night, I was still always able to find a couple available spots. They also have an underground parking section with plenty of spaces I case the lot above is full.

Pros: The services were extremely friendly. When entering the room the beds and room was clean. Little spots of stain on the bed sheet but there was a cover that covered it. High dryer is updated and not the heap hotel wall dryers. Room was renovated and was extremely homey.

Pros: Comfortable remodeled clean room on 3rd floor. Nice staff! Coffee in lobby. Toiletries and nice towels. Flat screen tv. A lot of comfy pillows. Free parking. Good value for location and comfort. Close to sports arena and beaches. Hair dryer worked well. Air conditioner worked. Front desk called and asked if we needed anything and hoped we enjoy our stay.

Pros: The room was a good size and very comfortable. The free breakfast had self cook waffles. I have not stayed in a Howard Johnson's for years because they were small and run down. This Howard John's changed my mind. I loved the free parking and no resort fee's. The TV had plenty of great channels also. I will try some more Howard Johnson's.

Pros: Free shuttle to SAN that picked up 5am. Room was clean and large. Easy to check in. My husband locked us out so we had to get another room key the desk guy did it no problems. Morning staff guy very nice. Bed was comfortable. No bed bugs we checked always do. No dust and toilet was clean. Checked all that. A /C worked great.

Pros: Check in was very smooth and quick; it's a large hotel/motel but the desk takes great pains to ensure you KNOW exactly where you are and where you can park! Upon entering the room: clean; separate sleeping area; microwave and refer; hot coffee for AM; FREE bottled water; extra blankets and pillow; 'fancy' fold of washcloth in bathroom ... hey! it's the little things that count! If you're going to the Valley View Arena or the surrounding areas: BEST VALUE bar none! Red lobster, Olive Garden, "best BBQ in San Diego just across the street" and an on-site eating place that 'ROCKS for breakfast!' I think it's called Du-Pars ... you look it upl! OVERALL: 10 stars out of 5 for the money; Want the HILTON AND $200 PLUS A NIGHT? ... go for it; If you're the mainstream like me ... grab this!

Pros: The room itself was nice. The bed was comfortable and the room was warm and inviting. Also, the diner was a nice bonus and the location was great.

Pros: Staff was friendly, the lady at the desk who I assume was the manager was wonderful. They do a great job of making the "motel" look great online, however once we arrived we were a bit disappointed. The location is terrible in downtown San Diego, there were quite a few "transients" in the area, including a few that had rooms. I'm not one to knock a person based on there unfortunate status, but when I go on vacation I don't want to see security having to forceably remove a poor homeless guy from the property while he shouts obscenities at 10 in the morning, nor see the police driving through the parking lot each night. The 2nd night we wereally there we heard blood curdling screams from a woman shouting for help, which thankfullyrics were met by swift police presence, but terrified my 3 young children. Also, there's a sign at the front desk clearly stating that the "motel" bears the Wyndham name, they are simply owned by the group and not operated by Wyndham or subject to their standards. We returned to our room after days out to find soda cans and used rubber gloves left in our room by the cleaning staff and our room had stains on the floor and holes in the shower. The WiFi never worked well at all, we were able to get a better signal from the Wendy's next to the hotel. Overall I would give them a 2, barely, and that's solely based on the interactionsame I had with the front desk who were very nice.

Pros: Very noisy until 11:00 PM. Our kids stayed in another room while we were there as well. They are a younger couple with a child and they ran out of hot water the first day they were there and on the last day. We would never stay at this hotel again. Adults drinking alcohol in the corridors until very late at night. This is a Family hotel however just did not mix with us overall.

Pros: My family came down to San Diego for vacation and when we arrived to your hotel and checked in, we were given the wrong room's, the next morning I informed the front desk, and they would get everything taken care of when I came back later that day. When I came back that night it still hadn't been taken care of and the front desk person upgraded our room to a King suite for free which I thought was pretty awesome. Thank you so much for fixing the mistake and going beyond what was needed.

Pros: It's a great location, close to Sea World, and Downtown, and the Zoo, and the staff is also very nice and attentive. They're also located next to a wonderful 24 hour restaurant (Du-par's) which served incredible, homemade food, and jams and desserts! There were a large variety of other restaurants also very close, as well as stores such as Target for those items that you forget to bring from home.

Pros: The location was just what we needed to go to the beach and Seaworld. We enjoyed the hot tub the first night of our stay.

Pros: Housekeeping did a very good job cleaning room. When I called to get the different items fixed in room, engineering came quickly to correct the problems except the air conditioning problem. He came quickly but did not correct problem.

Pros: I usually stay in really dingy hotels because hey I only sleep there. But when my usually dingy place was the same price as this I took it. I will say the one thing I didn't like was you have to pay for parking per night, 12 a night to be exact.... after I already pay for the stay why charge parking?
