Super clean, nice new car, the only problem we had was one tire tiny. It was slow and air, besides that everything else was great.

This would have been a good experience apart from two things: 1) the repeated pestering texts and e-mails insisting that I check in online in advance, which I tried to do but the system didn't work; and 2) HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I waited for over half an hour to speak to someone in India who was hard to understand and then in the end said she couldn't do anything to change my pick-up time because I had booked through a third party service, and gave me a non-functional phone number to try to reach the airport desk. What a pity. The car was fine and the airport pick-up staff were fine. But I will never use Dollar again because that company wouldn't let those people just do their job.

My total price of booking including taxes was supposed to be $265 . I paid for tolls and gas from sixt . But they charged an additional A1 , $36 car rental tax 2% plus 8% sales tax and A2 tax was charged . Car was good but they gave me a car that needed coolant after I drive for 2 days so I had to exchange the car at a different airport . I hope you guys can contact me back .

I loved the vehicle, but the agent upsold me on everything even though my kayak contract was one amount, they didn’t have that class of vehicle upon arrival and instead of upgrading me at no cost, they upcharged me. Then in addition to that, in order for my husband to drive the vehicle, that would’ve been an additional charge and I am never charged like this at other rental agencies.

Was told they couldn’t honor my original reservation and forced to pay for an upgrade, was not offered a free upgrade. Ended up with the same class of car anyway. Scammy experience, would not recommend.
The pick up area was hard to find. The facility was filthy and ill kept. The clerks were surly and tried to upsell every customer leading to a huge line. Cars were barely cleaned. The Toyota we rented was dirty - it had been run though the car wash and left wet. We were happy to get a car though. There were very few at the facility. When we returned the car, no one greeted us and it appears we were billed twice for the rental and the voucher not honored Definitely will not be renting through Kayak again.

The workers were great. The car was fine. I could have gotten a sedan as I requested but the SUV was at least not that big.

Their customer service was excellent—pick-up and drop-off were very efficient. I needed to change the date and drop-off location and Avis did the change. They treated me like a good customer should be treated.

The car was just fine as far as a midsize model to drive which they only had one more to rent out the Weight at the DCA airport was almost 1 hour. The line at their rental shop even though I had a reservation was 45 minutes. I was told I would get an email of my receipt which I need to get reimbursed for work and to this moment I still don’t have an email. I was just lucky. I remembered the location to return it because I had no information given to me and I don’t know I checked the email with them and it should be correct but I do not have one at pick up or drop off.

Line was about 20 people deep and wasn’t moving so I abandoned the reservation. Also. This is so far away from the airport… not sure how this is considered on prem.
It was simple. The Bluetooth didn’t work and I needed a cord for ApplePlay but otherwise, it was a-ok.

My issue is with the third party that kayak uses to book with budget. I had an issue with the pick up, couldn't get the car, their offices are in Hong Kong, and I still have not received my full refund.

Everything was pretty good except the cleanliness of the car. The inside was awful - there was food on the carpet and wrappers in the doors. It also smelt of cigarette smoke.
The Kia assigned had a malfunction of the air conditioning system that likely had been noticed by an employee during cleaning. When I called the Hertz location, I got no answer multiple times. I then called another local Hertz that was actually closer at that moment and the same thing, no answer multiple times. I drove to that second location and they swapped the vehicle for the only thing they had available, a Jeep Wrangler. Much worse fuel, mileage, and noisier, but at least it worked. It had not been cleaned up at all and had around 3/4 of a tank of fuel. When I returned it, I noted the experience with the kind & concerned staff member (in another city,) and she kindly credited a good portion of the rental for all the mishaps, which I very much appreciated.

3 hour delay getting the car despite a reservation and checking in online. Ridiculous overbooking which is entirely the fault of Hertz. Terrible customer service trying to return the car (missed drop off window because of previous delay). Inconsistent information about return location and processes.

The staff was professional but heavy handed on the upselling despite Thrifty shorting me the car I signed up for. Thrifty “did not have” the car I rented (RAV4) and so I got stuck with a Kia. I was told they could “try to look for one but it’s unlikely there are any.” The extra-fee/skip the line/go straight to your rental app wasn’t working. The requirement to go to the desk to check in was probably for the heavy-handed upselling of additional coverage even though I already had coverage from my own insurance (I was told it would just be easier that going through my insurance). It was all deeply annoying and underwhelming.

Passenger van
Rented a transit van or similar passenger van, all they had was a minivan. Said the issue was on Kayak’s side, not there’s. I could rent a second vehicle to fit my party at current prices. Walked away with an eight passenger minivan for twelve people.

This location is an absolute nightmare. Read Google reviews all the same story. Bottom line you can’t rely on them to have a car for you when you get there. Doesn’t matter if you reserve well in advance and prepay. And when you finally get a car, I got mine with 16 percent gas left and the car reeked of marijuana. Do yourself a favor and do not rent from them.

My flight was delayed by many hours. I was not able to get to the Thrifty counter before it closed. Although I kept Thrifty apprised of these delays thruout the evening, they still have not honored my request for a full refund. I will need to contact my credit card company to deal with this.

Terrible just horrible. Pickup and the laziness and rudeness from thrifty employees Got a car from garage felt like a dungeon. Guy didn’t even show me my car just told me to grab 1 of 2 black cars. I even asked her inspect it with me and he said he don’t do that. So I did best I could do to look at car in the poor lit area with no lights so I took off 4 hours later after coming back outside I notice a dent and body damage underneath passenger door on right side you wouldn’t be able to see in that garage. Thrifty customer service sucks to call and tell them this I eventually told the ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE with thrifty and made a case number with them regarding this Son of telling her what happened and everything that I drove a car literally from the garage to a place 30 miles away, walked that side and saw this damage I brought the car back the next day and told him about this and he said I had to do a report through Hertz so I told Hertz then they said there was a damaged before and I should’ve inspected it better This wasn’t my fault. I didn’t cause this damage. It was some employee inside the garage either when they drop the car off or took it somebody in there did it. Somebody needs to look at the video inside the garage of this car especially then look at the video before I left and see when I pulled out there’s gonna be damage on that car The employees there are lazy and incompetent and just sorry people at the Washington DC thrifty place. Somebody needs to tell management and corporate about thrifty through Hertz and how lazy and sorry their employees are Somebody inside that area with thrifty or somebody that took that car before I got it and place that car somebody calls that damage to that car and it was not me. I will never ever go through kayak again or third-party to get another vehicle. I’d rather go to enterprise or some other company y’all start party also help me as an electrical car. I didn’t want an electrical car. I wanted a gas car. I’ll never go through y’all’s company ever again. This was the worst experience that I’ve ever had.

The Thrifty staff at pickup were super rude, ignored us at the desk, and were very rude when asking for a deposit card and extra $200 payments tot take the rental we already paid for. They were not at all kind or helpful in explaining the process and were annoyed that we were even there. They were not all al helpful when our rental blew a flat tire and wanted to charge us $700 to toe us back to the airport. The tow would not take us to our air B&B to get our belongings which is 2 hours from the airport. They would only tow us back to the airport to miss the entire friends wedding so we can exchange the car and drive all the way back to our rental house to pick up our belongings. The car did not have a spare tire or my roadside items. 0/10 would not rent with Thrifty again.
