The counter agent at Ace Rent a Car misled me into paying for unnecessary insurance. I had already purchased full collision protection through KAYAK for $80 total. Upon pickup, the agent aggressively insisted that my policy was invalid and instructed me to cancel it, promising a full refund, while forcing me to take their in-house coverage at $50/day ($200 total). No sooner than we drove off the lot we had to turn back around because we saw the light on the dashboard showing that one of the tires was nearly flat. We turned back around and when I went back in and told them that one of the tires was flat, there was no apology, no “I’m so sorry for the inconvenience”. The 5am opening time was a little if-fy for a 7am flight but everyone arrived on time. The pickup procedure was lengthy and they could have had additional setups that the renters could have used while waiting in line for a faster pickup.Reviewed 22 Aug 2026

Horrible experience. Will never rent from them again. Even after saying no to insurance coverage, they still charged for it. They never asked us to show the proof of insurance. Nothing went really wrong but would not rent again and would not recommend. Enough little fees and technicalities to offset any savings and it makes the experience feel scammy. 1. The rental says Ace, but Ace is just licensing their name to Drivo, a rental car company I have never heard of. 2. The Kayak listing clearly stated "unlimited mileage" and nothing about geofencing. I wasn't aware the rental was geofenced until pickup, and my destination was in the penalty zone. Too late to do anything but incur the penalty. Maybe Drivo has it hidden in the fine print somewhere during booking, but I was on the lookout for it and I didn't see it. 3. I opted to add the CDW insurance but was not told at pickup that if I entered the penalty zone it would void the CDW policy. So I paid $199 for insurance that was voided four hours later and for the rest of the rental.Reviewed 13 Aug 2026
