Bait and Switch!Cons:After making me wait 45 minutes to meet an agent, she told me that I was now late and that I would have to pay an additional $100 for a car. My only alternative was to take the shuttle back to the airport and then see if I could find a better price with a competitor. That would have taken hours, so I was stuck paying the scam price. The agent even argued with me the entire time that it was my fault that they were scamming me. When I finally got the car at the new price, it was covered in snow with no way to clean it off. I was stuck in the cold trying to wipe the ice and snow from the windshield with my hands. Terrible experience.Reviewed 17 Feb. 2018

Horrible horrible experiencePros:The car was new in great condition however we picked it up in an ice storm and the company did not clear the ice if the windshield or windows and we were forced to wait almost half an hour for a year car and warm up until the ice all m lied.Cons:We arrived in the middle of the night and had to wait 20 minutes for their shuttle during a driving snowstorm while rival car rental companies ran shuttles every 5 minutes. Once we got to rental office they kept us waiting 25 minutes just to check in and pick up the car. At one point in time during the rental we accidentally locked the keys in the car. I called the Denver office around 5 pm just to have them call Onstar to remotely unlock car. I could not get through to the office and the voicemails on every extension were full. If not for the operator in the national office I would still be stranded. Overall I got stuck on the phone and missed the first hour and a half of the family wedding I flew to Denver to be at. Advantage is an utter disgrace.Reviewed 5 May 2017

Pros:The SUV I finally got was roomy and handled mediocre in the snow. The only other positive was the shuttle bus driver on my return was very nice and helped me with my luggage.Cons:The total price for the rental of an SUV Jeep was supposed to be $225.00 with taxes & fees. When I got to the counter I was advised that they don't even carry that make or model & they offered me a 2 wheel drive SUV. Being from Colorado & knowing they were expecting another major snowstorm, I always rent 4 wheel drive SUV's. I was told this would be an extra $201.00 or $426.00 total. Nearly double the original price. Had my fiancé not already paid the $225.00, I would have gone elsewhere. There was not a snow brush in my car, so I asked the customer service rep. for one. He checked about 10 other rentals & couldn't find one. Finally he went to their automotive shop area & returned with a small one that looked like it was falling apart. I ended up purchasing one later suitable for an SUV. I'm upset that the price & vehicle quoted on Kayak wasn't even available through Advantage car rental & was nearly double the price. When I went to return the vehicle in the snow & ice while toting 2 suitcases I had to drag them approximately 150 feet to where the shuttle bus was.Reviewed 29 Nov. 2019

Cons:When we arrived to pick up our reserved car, we were told by other customers in a 40+ person line that the computer system was down and they had been waiting for over 2 hours. Obviously I do not blame Advantage for their system crashing as technology is not always reliable. I feel badly for Advantage for having to deal with the mess. HOWEVER, there were many things that should have been handled differently from a customer's perspective. I did not hear any information from the advantage employees for the first half hour I was waiting in line. No one knew what was going on, what we should be doing, why some people were filling out paperwork, how long they expected the system to be down, whether people with reservations should be doing anything differently from people without reservations, etc. When an employee finally came to the back of the line to make announcements about what we should be doing, a customer asked how long he expected the wait would take. He said 20 minutes. This drastically contradicted the 2+ hour wait reported by one of the other customers. The employee deliberately misinformed customers. We ended up getting a rental car from a different dealer so I cannot comment on comfort/cleanliness of the car. I do not know if those who stayed ended up getting the prices reduced due to the long wait, so I also cannot comment on value for money. On the other hand, we ended up getting a larger vehicle for less money from the other company so I would have to say that relatively speaking, the value for money was poor.Reviewed 6 Mar. 2017

Good ExperiencePros:Shuttle was waiting at the airport when we arrived and promptly took us to get our rental car. The staff was great and after talking to the attendant about where we were going in the mountains he recommended upgrading to an AWD v6 instead of the full size car. Good thing he did because it came in really handy. He also worked to get me as many discounts as he could and since I am only 24 he did as much as he could to work the price to make it affordable. The car was great, nothing fancy but it was new (less then 1500 miles) and clean and never had any issues with it.Cons:If you book through a third party you can not get any discounts through the rental company. Call and check with them for the price before you book.Reviewed 14 Dec. 2016

Terrible sales practices, zero phone support.Cons:I had ordered an intermediate with front wheel drive. The assistant told me I would have a "legal and a safety obligation" to drive something with chains and/or a 4 wheel drive. I was unfamiliar with the road conditions from Denver to Vail, CO. I found out unfortunately that the upgrade went from 92.50 to 356.00. Also the vehicle provided had transmission problems on mountain grades. I have phone records supporting 2 hrs of phone calls sitting on hold trying to get resolution on matters. I've filed a complaint with the BBB and am filing a prosecution record with the State Attorney General. Steer clear of this shady organization.Reviewed 11 Jan. 2016

MediocrePros:We had a vehicle for the duration of our tripCons:Our flight came in late, so we had to wait 30 minutes for a shuttle to arrive. Once we arrived at the facility, we were told the only available cars on the lot were minivans. As a young couple with no kids and wanting to drive around the state, a gas-guzzling van isn't ideal. We were repeatedly warned about tolls and how necessary it was to purchase a toll pass - they charge $25 per toll for processing, in addition to the toll itself. Turned out to be a non-issue as the photo tolls were easily avoided (at least we hope). They also charge for spousal drivers, which some of the bigger names include. The employees are friendly overall but aren't extremely helpful. They tend to push you to purchase unnecessary add-ons which we found annoying. Also, don't hold your breath trying to talk to someone over the phone. You'll get an automated message every time without an option to speak to a representative. You're forced to leave a message that will never be heard by anyone. Conclusion: stick with a well-known name brand. Once you factor in the hidden costs and fees, the price ends up being the same and you avoid the annoyances of an off-brand. Lesson learned.Reviewed 12 Apr. 2016

Car awful customer service worsePros:NothingCons:The employee employee working with us to get our reserved rental practically left us with no choice to drive in the mountains without the upgraded vehicle so we agreed. We needed to leave asap to beat the snow and make it for our check in time an hour and a half away. Our upgraded car was dirty, the windshield was disgusting on the inside, usb port broken, wipers barely functional, had shifting problems and lastly, had a hole the size of a softball in the middle of the back seat! As we were being pushed out as just some other nuisance customer, I decided I would wait and report these things to them upon return of the car, once again I was in a hurry and the place was swarming with other people. Upon return of my car they wouldn't even hear me out, show any compassion and there was "nothing they could do about it." I was told I could have taken it to a car wash, replaced the wipers myself and bought a charger instead of use the usb and they would have reimbursed me.. I am on vacation and should have to do absolutely none of that with my POS rental car... I felt so disrespected and tried to stay level headed but having likely overpaid ($330 for 4 days) I was not happy they wouldn't even work with me. I would highly recommend no one does business with Advantage Rentals.Reviewed 19 Feb. 2018

Pros:Manager agreed to pick up the vehicle and refund my money.Cons:The staff could have provided a car that was functional, the vehicle was used, not cleaned, had no heat - and therefor no defroster, had no windshield washer fluid (frozen). The car had Florida plates, I don't think the tires were all-season and so very dangerous with just a very little bit of snow. I am an experienced Minnesota driver, so I'm confident and aware of what it takes to drive safely in inclement weather. I would expect Advantage IN DENVER, to be able to prepare a safe vehicle for me.Reviewed 4 Nov. 2019

Cons:The shuttle took 25 minutes to pick us up for the airport. When we arrived, it took over an hour and a half to get through the line (at 11PM at night mind you), even though we had prepaid. The staff continually tried to sell you on unnecessary upgrades and extra insurance, which only added to the frustration. When we finally did get the keys to the car, we were given a minivan even though we signed up for a sedan. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company. Absolutely horrific experience, would never come back.Reviewed 6 Feb. 2018

Cons:We tried to call them so many times but nobody ever picked the line any of the times. Waited on automated onhold for ever. Initially we called to let them know that our flight is late. No answer. Later we called to ask about why the car documents shows an upgrade as I did not ask for any upgrade and my husband did not hear anybody asking if we needed upgrade. Later we called again to ask if we can extend one more day. Nobody every picked. We decided to bear with whatever increase in cost that would occur because of this. But seriously we are not going back with this rentalReviewed 13 Mar. 2018
