Cons:I called Alamo twice to confirm that my SUV rental would be AWD as this was the sole reason for my rental to drive into snowy weather and both times was told I would have AWD with any SUV rental. However, at OAK airport I was told I am not guaranteed AWD and in additional OAK airport is the only Alamo location in the Bay Area that charges an additional fee for AWD. Eventually the agent did make an effort to help me get what we needed but the experience was unnecessarily disconcerting.Reviewed 16 Feb 2021

Cons:When we picked up our car, fortunately before we left the lot, we noticed that we had been given a car with an almost flat tire. Alamo quickly put us in another car, but it wasn't until after we left the lot that we realized we were given a car without a full tank of gas. This location doesn't seem to pay attention to details.Reviewed 2 July 2017

Pros:Nice car.Cons:We were upgraded automatically. We wanted a car that got good mileage and car got 30 miles to a gallon but it used premium. We were in California so it got expensive.Reviewed 21 June 2017

Pros:Clean carCons:Miscommunication with the local office and remote information staff. I was told there would be no fee for dropping off the car an hour late but instead I was charged an extra hour plus a day official insurance fee and the excuse was that the 1-800 help line does not always have information reflective of each rental site's policy, which should not be the case! Rude , IgnorancePros:I loved loosing $80 and being hung up on ! Just what I should've expected yeah ? You should expect the "Alamo" service and treatment if you call them.Cons:They were so rude I canceled my reservation And , I was unable to get my $80 worth of insurance back so that was a big waste so rudeness and cost me $80 ..... y'all run right over there.Reviewed 30 Mar 2017

4 wheel drive scamCons:I paid extra for an SUV just so I could have 4 wheel drive. We didn't need a car that big, just needed the 4WD for the mountains. We went to pick up the car and were told that all of their SUV's were 2 wheel drive unless you paid extra- like $190 extra. That is more than the cost of my rental to begin with! I didn't even realize you could purchase SUV's without 4WD. Such a scam.Reviewed 27 Mar 2017
