Pros: Size and features of vehicle were excellent. Had a choice of several vehicles of the same make and model at time of pickup.
Cons: No manual in vehicle. Had to call OnStar several times to get answers (where are the emergency flashers? why is it saying change oil soon?). Had to pick up Canadian insurance at another location closer to the Canadian border. No information could be provided by agents at pickup about the toll box usage - where was it useful and where would it not work.

Pros: Nice car. Easy
Cons: Wasn't able to pick up my car the day I had signed up for it. Price ended up increasing dramatically. Also, signed up for insurance level that I needed, when wife picked up car pushed insurance package on her that ended up doubling the price of the rental.

Requested vehicle fail
Pros: Easy enougj to book
Cons: Promised a 4x4. Confirmed 1 week out, and the day before pickup. No 4x4 'availabe' even though I booked 6 months out

Cons: Two things bothered me. The lady at the rental counter insisted that all Houston tollways require EZTag (or one of those automatic toll tags), and even though I said that there should be ways to give cash or changes made, she said that that was not possible. I'm not from Houston, but go there maybe once every six months, and I was still surprised. But sure enough, all toll booths on Beltway did have humans there for changes made. The other thing is that she sort of insisted that I buy a full tank of gas from them beforehand. I was returning the car to Austin, and it was only about 180 miles, so with a compact Ford Fiesta it should only take about 6 gallons, but she kept on saying I would use up the full tank in the trip. I declined and sure enough I had used only about 5 gallons. They try to sell these things to unsuspecting customers - quite annoying.

Paid 25% more than booking.
Pros: The people at budget were friendly and helpful, its not up to them how much the rentals cost so I can't blame them.
Cons: I told the woman assisting me that I didn't need any insurance- that my insurance covered everything. Then when I went to sign for the car, it is on a little computer terminal so you really can't take the time to read the contract (especially because they're rushing you through it). I booked online for $158 and my total was almost $200. When I asked why she said it was because of tax and asked for my final signature. Later when I got home and checked on my reservation it said that tax was already included in the $158. I opened the tri-fold that they had given me and they had tacked on insurance that I didn't want and rushed me through signing so I wouldn't notice before it was too late. $158 was already too much to rent a car for 20 hours, $200 is a scam.

Pros: Appreciated how easy it was to find the drop off location at IAH airport. Compared to DFW airport, this drop off location was so much more convenient to locate.
Cons: Felt pressured by the sales clerk to take the extra insurance coverage when I told him my USAA insurance covered rentals. He made me feel very uncomfortable - looking at me like I was a moron. As far as customer service goes, I would give him a D rating.

Lines for pickup too long
Pros: I thought it was going to be a less expensive rental.
Cons: For me it was significantly more than quoted on Kayak.

Cons: I got to the counter to rent the vehicle and there was one agent and 10 customers waiting and after 15-minute he had served only one customer so I left and went to Avis and was on the road within 10-inutes

Pros: The front-desk staff was super friendly. Our check-in process was fairly easy, and we were checked in within 5 minutes of arrival.
Cons: Once we checked in, we waited over an hour for our car to be ready. It was obvious that nobody had started prepping our car until we arrived, and then they determined it needed a "deep clean". Based on the condition we received the car post-deep-clean, I don't even want to consider the "before" state. When we got the car, the seats were still damp, and it reeked of cleaning supplies. Having rented cars multiple times for work, I was disappointed by how unprepared this location was for a reservation arrival.

Will swindle you...BEWARE
Cons: I was told by the woman at the counter when I EXPLICITLY asked "what time must the car be returned" and she told "in before 4pm and you're good." Well this was a LIE, and when I called customer service they said I got charged for a second day at 12pm (I returned the car at 1:30). The customer service lady was extremely rude when I called and said "it's based on the rental agreement, not what the agent told you". So just beware they will lie to you about the return time to make more money, then tell you it's your fault!

Pros: Quick pick-up at Hobby airport. Rapid-rez available, dropped off by bus driver in front of car in the lot. Great value.
Cons: Car had not been cleaned on the outside.

Interior maintanence needs work.
Pros: Price and convenience were great.
Cons: The inside of the car was definitely not vacuumed or cleaned. :(. And the driver seat would not recline at all so I was sitting too upright. Very uncomfortable.

Visit to Huntsville
Pros: I'm planning on buying a house in Huntsville Texas. I was able to bring my things to my mom's house in Oklahoma then drive on to Houston for my flight back to Las Vegas.

Cons: The vehicles are poorly maintained. Various vehicles have damages on them. Things are not up to date.

Pros: Check in/out was fast.
Cons: Agent didn't offer choice of car or upgrade. Any cars that has over 25K miles should be phased out. Car was not cleaned inside and still had odor from previous renter.

Thieves at Budget
Cons: I left a couple coats and hats in a car by accident that had an airbag malfunction so I asked to be placed in a different vehicle. When we were moved to a different vehicle we forgot to grab those items. We called within 30 minutes of realizing and spoke to a budget employee who said thatbshe retrieved our items from the first car and would put them in lost and found. Come Monday we went to get our stuff from lost and found and it was not in there. And noone could seem to figure out where it could have gone.

Cons: They wont tell you exactly how much it cost for them to fill it up and just hurry you up to initial and then when you turn it in, they hit you for $9.89 a gallon. RIP OFF

Clean and simple
Pros: Ease of access and logistics renting and returning car.
Cons: Kayak had my rental at an office at another airport in the same city... so the price difference was pretty noticeable but not too outrageous.

Houston to Austin Trip
Pros: Rented from Budget at IAH for a weekend trip to San Marcos to visit our daughter in college. The entire Budget experience was FANTASTIC! First, there was no line (we arrived at 2:45pm) and the agent was charming, personable and extremely helpful. We asked a boatload of questions regarding using credit verses debit cards, what is covered and not covered with insurance, deposit holds and tolls. She took the time to answer every question to our satisfaction and processed us quickly. She even gave us an upgrade vehicle! I feel horrible that I can't recall her name, but she wore very striking blue eyeshadow and had a Budget CEO pin on her collar! Thanks for an enjoyable experience!

Kayak Messed Up - I didn't notice
Pros: The outcome of this rental causes me to not like anything about the rental at all.
Cons: My wife flew into IAH and needed a one-way rental for one day. Apparently something with the search went wrong and included pickups at HOU as well. I didn't notice, my bad. She went to pickup the car at IAH and the Budget desk was pushy and rude with the upsells (which were all declined) but they never mentioned to my wife the actual reservation was for HOU and they ended up charging here almost three times the cost of the reservation I had made. tl;dr I think Kayak messed up, then I messed up, then Budget's customer service and handling of the situation was atrocious and borderline deceptive trade practices.

Pros: Everything went well. The car was comfortable and performed well. The drop off was smooth and efficient. The staff was friendly. If you don't agree, try Enterprise and make the comparison.
Cons: The car rental hangar is huge, so walking to get to the buses takes longer than most places. Everything there is clean and efficient.

Nice car, bad service, not clean
Pros: The car we received was great and perfect for what we needed.
Cons: The pick-up at the airport was terrible. They said I didn't have a reservation, but then, of course, I did. When they found a car for me, they said my reservation price was not valid, so I'd be charged $66 per day. What? Then - this is no joke - I went to put my luggage in the back seat, and there was a syringe left in the car in the back seat. That was enough to warrant a negative rating for this experience.

Why insurance is different
Pros: Give me a jeep SUV!!
Cons: I bought the insurance online (Allstate), but when I get there the employee told me that I have to claim by myself if I get accident without their (budget's) one. I don't like this part.

full disclosure lacking
Cons: Budget charges $13 extra for adding a driver. It was buried in the footnote that they may charge but it should have been told. I would have picked some other rental due to this as it was not the cheapest option

Airport drop off was easy
Pros: Even though it was 4am we were met at the car park for drop off, a total breeze.

Hidden fees and poor service
Pros: It was a decent SUV
Cons: The employee working the pick up counter was no hep at all, just a salesman only seeming to care about up charges instead of actually helping me with what I wanted. Spent twice as much as I was quoted. The car had not been detailed inside or out. When I went to drop off the vehicle there wasn't a person at the desk. Found out that I had to drop it off with a different company since the Budget employee at the drop off point apparently leaves early quite regularly without telling anyone. All around, it wasn't my worst experience. I will, however, stick with the car rental companies that care about customer service. Sorry Budget

Pros: It took a lot of planning and research to find the best dropoff and pickup locations for a decent price. During the Houston pickup, the person I worked with insisted that the reservation had me return it to the New Orleans airport. I tried to show him my reservation on my phone, but he wouldn't look at it. He instead just recited from his computer. He even went so far as to say the location I booked at (only days prior) had closed (not true) and that our drop-off location had reverted to the airport. He even called the number provided and said it was the airport location that picked up (it turns out it wasn't! -- at least not when the number was called again). When I was able to reference the location code and prove to him that it was a downtown location, he claimed it was a computer problem and that it changed on him while we were talking. Everything ended up OK in the sense that we had the correct pickup/dropoff and we had the correct car reserved, but a mistake on the part of the worker was followed up by indignation that he hadn't made a mistake, and then a cover-up lie and, finally, blame on the computer system. So it was quite an uncomfortable pick-up experience.

Avoid Budget at Hobby Houston as you would the Pla
Pros: There was absolutely nothing to like about this rental experience
Cons: From the desk staff who made fun of every customer behind their back, to the clunker car that reeked of smoke, to the chaotic return that was over complicated, understaffed, took way too long, and left all the customers to their own devices, to the ridiculous wait to get shuttled to the terminal despite being on the airport property this was the worst car rental experience I've ever had. Oh, and their computer was down so they promised to email me my receipt that I need for reimbursement purposes, and which they haven't done after 24 hours.
