Budget office lied on my gas fuel gaugeCons:I received a car with a quarter tank filled, but when dropping off the car I was told I received a full-tank car and so I was charged a surcharge of $99 and they suggested I call the office from where I picked up the car. They were closed. I then tried customer service and they said they needed to redirect me to a special department (also closed for the day). All in all, I had to go home with an extra charge I was not even able to challenge despite the pink slipper I received from the rental stated the car was filled at 1/4 of the tank. Definitely would recommend taking your business elsewhere.Reviewed 23 Aug. 2018

Pros:The car was fine, when I actually got to the rental place was fairly quick. But was completely ruined by what could have gone betterCons:The airport shuttle and ability to communicate with someone once the flight landed. Waited for 35 minutes only to watch every other shuttle bus come and go 3 times. When you call the number there is no way to reach any one at the location because it goes to a central booking even though it’s a local number.Reviewed 25 Oct. 2020

Pros:Fairly prompt shuttle pick-up.Cons:We were told there would be a 10 minute wait “for the car to be serviced”. Waited 15 minutes and the car was filthy inside and hadn’t been washed outside. It did have gas - I guess that was the”service”.Reviewed 24 Sep. 2020

Pros:The car interior seemed very clean.Cons:My final bill was twice the amount I was quoted when booking via Kayak. I asked questions about this with the in-person Budget employee at the counter when picking up my vehicle, and I didn’t receive any acceptable justification. I was told the insurance I purchased on Kayak was invalid, and that I was required to purchase the insurance Budget offered. I was offered a more fuel efficient vehicle, different from the one I’d booked in advance. I asked if there was a price difference and was told no. Turns out, there was a price difference, and the new insurance I was “required” to have was listed as optional on the rental agreement receipt that was printed out and given to me at the counter. This cost me an additional $150. Perhaps this was all due to Budget’s deceptive business practices and dishonest employees and nothing bad by Kayak, but what could have been better was more transparency of information that might have not cost me an extra couple hundred dollars.Reviewed 5 Oct. 2020

UnprofessionalPros:Easy pickup, car was ready and out front.Cons:Could not for the life of me get a hold of the IAD Budget to have them help me adjust my drop off location. I called 5+ phone numbers and spoke with many reps who all confirmed the change wouldn’t cost me anything, and then I was finally directed to call the IAD location but the line was either busy or I kept being routed to US customer service. When I did get a hold of them, they said the change would cost me $200. Which is more than double the cost of my reservation. When I responded with no and used the other reps has supporting evidence that it shouldn’t cost me anything, they responded back with “okay it’ll cost you $50, special discount for you” which is so unprofessional. I felt like I was haggling to buy something....they then didn’t send me a confirmation or receipt and my reservation was not appearing to be updated on my end via the app or when I log into my account. So I called to have them send me one and I was placed on hold for 35mins to which I had to hang up. I could t get a hold of them for another day, and the guy ended up texting me a photo of my receipt......very strange, unprofessional and rediculous.Reviewed 15 Oct. 2018

Reserved a car and they said they have reservation but ran out of carsPros:I had a reservation for a car in the shuttle bus never showed up. After waiting for one hour finally I got through to the office and they told me that they have no cars left and it didn’t matter that I had a reservation. They’ve been hung up on me. There were eight other people waiting and it was the same story most of them booked through KAYAK.Cons:That they did not honor any of the reservations.Reviewed 20 May 2018

Pros:Agent did her best under poor conditions.Cons:Only one agent around midnight with about 8 people trying to check in after a flight. Agent had to pull around cars and work the counter even though everyone had reservations. Poor planning. Waited almost an hour and then the car wouldn't start. Ended up going back to the airport to get an Uber which turned out to be cheaper for my one way trip.Reviewed 17 Nov. 2017
