Cons: Hours of operation in New York City could be better. They are pretty limited, and they make drop-off more difficult. Otherwise, good overall experience.
Pros: The free upgrade was appreciated and the car was new and clean.
Cons: There was an enormous line at the airport to pick up the car, and only one person able to process customers. The wait was utterly ridiculous (40 min) and made me late. There was no toll transponder in the car, which was really annoying.
Pros: Well maintained vehicle and very efficient and friendly pick-up/drop off. Much better than the Hertz family of companies.

Pros: The car rental area at the Airport was not as easy to navigate as I would have liked. Most counters were closed at 10pm (on a Saturday night), so I had to search for the only open area. Then there was about a 30 minute wait because only 2 people were working at the time.

Chicago O’Hare Customer Service
Pros: The branch manager at the airport rental car return at the Chicago airport is absolutely fantastic. He by far provided the best customer service I’ve ever received. Because the car wasn’t clean and smelled like smoke he waved our fuel charge and because we have an infant and 8 large luggage bags he gave us valet service to the terminal!!! He should be promoted!!!!

Cons: Even though I called ahead, there were no full-sized trucks on the lot when I arrived. They had to get one from some auxiliary lot and drive it in for me. The truck they grabbed had not been properly cleaned - filthy steering wheels and side windows so dirty that I could not see the side mirrors.
National made up for this by giving me a free day of rent (refund), and a deep apology from the management. So I will try them again next time.

Cons: Way too much confusion trying to locate a car in the class I had reserved (luxury). 5 different people asked if we needed help (we did) but none delivered. After much delay, we got a car that was just cleaned and we’re on our way. Not a very good showing.

Cons: Staff put me in the wrong car delaying my trip because I had to drop the car back off and get a new car. The price was way to high for the car I get. The car was not comfortable and smelled.
Cons: Well Ultimately it was my fault but when I put in my search I put for same pick up and drop off location. She. The search came up I saw a deal for a reduced price so I picked it but failed to see it was for a transfer in Chicago so I was to pick up at the airport and drop off at a different location. The agent at Hertz when I rented to car didn’t pout this out to me either so when I brought back the car to the airport I was charge another like $80 for the rental. Was not expecting that because I brought it to the wrong location. I was not happy and will probably not be using kayak to search for a car again... will just book through the dealer so I k ow what I’m getting

Cons: When I went to drop off my car at the designated lot (3130 N Sheffield Ave), the lot was full and the Hertz office was closed. I had to keep the car an extra day and return it the next morning. Now I have to waste my time disputing the extra fees. Do NOT use the 3130 N Sheffield Ave location.

Pros: Agent forgot to change my drop off location, so they charged me an additional $300.

Cons: I realize it's not completely within Budget's control, but the shuttle between the O'hare terminals and the rental car center is scary as hell during this pandemic. The shuttle buses are packed with people, not all of whom are properly masked. It's a bit silly that the rental car center has erected six foot spacing requirements and glass shields between customers and agents, and that you are doing extra cleaning of your cars, when an airport renter is forced to take a "no social distancing" bus ride to the car pickup where he or she is packed up against others like a sardine.

Cons: Mystery vehicle was a 15 passenger van, for one person to drive not the best use of a vehicle. Drop off address in South Bend does not exist, staff in South Bend has no answer when asked why it was incorrect online and on paperwork.

It was impossible to reach a human at the airport car rental desk so couldn’t ask a human to grab the missing iPad. Was forced to fill out a form on the website. And of course it has not been found. If they would simply have let a person talk to a person, a lot of money and headache could have been saved.

Pros: The staff when I picked up was nice but my car was not ready when I arrived. They forgot about me when he asked me to take a seat and they would call me. 45 minutes later I went to the counter and asked what the problem was. Then they had the car. It was late so it was dark and I could not see the interior of the car very well.
Cons: My car should have been ready when I arrived. I waited 45 minutes I had booked it a week earlier. The next day in the daylight, I could see that the car was not clean. The dash was full of dust and fingerprints. The exterior was not really clean like you expect.

Cons: The wait to pick up the car was HORRIBLE!!!! To make matters worse they had charged me over $98.00 to refill it with gas when I had already filled the car before returning it. The total miles traveled was 82 when the average miles per gallon on a Corolla is approximately 35. That means at best I used probably 2 1/2 gallons. It was only after asking to speak with a manager, completing a survey and providing Dollar with a copy of my gas receipt for $5.00 and 2.519 gallons that they reversed the charges. Even with the receipt I was still charged approximately $14.00 for gas due to purchasing it 32 miles and not 10 miles from drop off. That would mean that I used approximately one gallon of gas with 1.59 gallons of a full tank which was more than when I first picked up the car. I have rented cars for 30 years with sons working for both Enterprise and Budget and not one bad experience. We will NEVER use dollar again!!!

Pros: Almost everything was fantastic. Customer service was timely and pleasant...there were only two of us in line, but there was no effort to put me off. Drop-off was easy and also quick. No receipt provided at drop-off, told I would receive via email. I filled the car with gas before turn-in...haven’t seen the receipt yet, but do hope I wasn’t charged for gas as that appears to be a problem for some.

When traveling for business in particular this receipt is critical for expense reports and a delay in the receipt costs money in disbursement lag, AND is frustrating. For this reason alone, I would generally rate lower, but the rest of the service and the car itself was really very good.

Cons: Checking in at the rental desk was not great, even with a reservation - the staff was fairly uninterested in being there. The car was not particularly clean and had several dings and scratches that I needed to record so that they weren’t pinned on me. I hated the car (GMC Terrain) and found it’s technology and features dated. Drop off process was easy. Overall a mediocre experience.
Pros: The price was very good and the car was much better both in miles and luxury than I expected.
Cons: I waited 20 minutes in line to meet with the counter agent. I was skipped over many times as they selected "Dollar" customers over "Thrifty" customers even though it's own by the same corporation. After the 20 minute wait to see the agent, I waited another 40 minutes for my car to be "sanitized" due to Covid and it was clear that all they did was wash the outside of the car. The inside still had crumbs from the last renter.

No Managers in site and or other agents in site to help out, which seems unprofessional and shows lack of preparation from the managements points of view.

Cons: As I was leaving the check oil and check tire light was on I ask the gentleman as I was leaving about it he said they just probably forgot to reset. It was late so I trusted and left. The next morning heading to my daughters hockey game, the car will not start. Could not detect key. I finally called Uber and continued to try to start actually got started before he got there so we drive to game. I had an hour before it started so I called Avis. The First Lady told me I could either go to wal mart to fix or drive 60 miles both ways to get a new car.... I said not an option. She put me on hold for forever I finally hung up and called back a nicer gentleman found one closer 20 minutes. I drove over they didn’t have cars available. By this time my head is about to spin off. So I drove back to game left my car running watched game and then proceeded to call again which I had to then drove to airport another 20 minutes away and get a new car. They were nice and helped me out so the service is lost somewhere in between. I will never use Avis again.

Cons: I chose the self refuel option and filled up the gas tank (even added more gas after 1st automatic stop) about 1.5 miles from airport return. Avis added a $9.99 charge because according to them it was 0.7 gallons less than when I received it. The gauge was showing above the full line. I had to stand in line to dispute it. Finally the extra charge was removed when I showed the receipt. However, this seems to be a scam to get more $. Avis probably assumed I wouldn't notice or wouldn't have time to dispute it.

Gross..had to quickly clean ourselves as we were late and did not have time.

Cons: Before hitting Rockford/Chicago, I was on backroads that didn't go more than 55 mph. Once I hit the freeway, the car I was in would not accelerate properly and soon wouldn't go beyond 35 mph. I only had the car for 3 hours (to drive to O'Hare) and it was terrible and expensive experience.

It might have been In the fine print, but I did not remember reading it. Cons: Routes is running a hustle. They demand at the counter that you show them your insurance ID card and if you don't have one to show them, they will charge you an additional 14.95/day. I escaped the hustle but I saw one customer get irate and the guy behind the counter only made it worse. I thought they were going to fist fight. Also, getting there was a problem. A bus picked me up at the airport and took me to the building with ALL of the rental car places. Upon inspection, it became clear that Routes was the only one that didn't have a spot in the building. I was told to go outside and wait for the Routes van. A guy picked me up and I was alone in the van with him for the next 10 minutes, which was unnerving. I waited in a long line and the attendants were very unprofessional. Upon drop-off, there was o clear communication about the process or where to park. Total disaster.
Pros: Once I made it to the rental office, the pick up was super fast. And the drop was easy and quick and we were taken to the airport without delay. Thank you!
Cons: It would be easier to explain to customers your agents are NOT in the airport car rental building so we do not waste time looking, but we can call immediately upon arrival for your van to pickup the customer. Other than that, everything went well.

Also, I was just charged $66 a month and a half after drop off. I have been trying to get in touch with them, with absolutely no luck. I would like to know what the charges were for.
Cons: Routes Car Rental does not rent to you unless you are flying in and out of O'Hare! I did not read this anywhere on the site. It might have been In the fine print, but I did not remember reading it. I was unable to rent a car from them and ending up having to pay much more for a last minute rental and was delayed in starting my trip!
Cons: This company has all sorts of hidden fees that will force you to pay once you are there. Also the people working there are rude, and will treat you with no respect, even insult you. It is not worth the little money you save. It will ruin your trip. All that after having to wait more than one hour to get picked up from the airport with the shuttle.
