Hour and a Half WaitPros:There were no major issues with the vehicle.Cons:When we arrived we were informed that it doesn't matter what time you tell them you will be there, you aren't garunteed a car at that time. They quoted us a 30 minute wait because of weather and "they literally had no cars." Despite looking out onto a full lot of cars waiting to be cleaned. Of course there were SUVs available, "but we can't let those go for free so you have to pay the additional $25/day." We then waited an hour and half, all the while if a Gold member came in they got a car right away. No intentions of renting with Hertz again.Reviewed 10 Aug. 2017

Hertz did not honor their reservation with me andPros:The ease of the reservation was good.Cons:I can't wait to have my attorney look over this incident! After making and getting a confirmed reservation, changing my travel plans based on this reservation, HERTZ stranded me on Christmas eve morning at 0230 am... They refused to rent me a vehicle and stated that they do not do 1 way rentals on christmas. After showing the counter person my reservation, they again refused to rent me a car. I then went to their website and tried to make another reservation and they were still showing cars available. I was told, regardless of what the website said, they would not rent me a car. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I work in customer service and I would never do that to someone on Christmas... If their cars were truly not available, they should have blocked them out like all of the other rental companies. Had they done that, I never would have changed my reservation and flown to a city that I didn't really need to be in. I will be looking for reimbursement for all of my travel expenses (even though they were minor) so as to not allow any one to set a precedence for this type of service, operation, treatment and overall business practice. This is false advertising, and is tantamount to a breech of contract. Not only do I deserve answers, but I deserve an apology. Pros:Well, first off, I paid $26 total for a rental (the Hertz version of dealers choice, where they pick the car for you). I ended up with a Mustang, and it was awesome.Cons:I had to wait an hour for the car. An hour. I felt like I was in a Jerry Seinfeld bit, asking if Hertz knew how reservations worked. If you’re not in a rush, it’s brilliant. If you have somewhere important to be... might not be great.Reviewed 13 Feb. 2021

Cons:Snow storm in Chicago and Hertz had one person working the counter. Several people were turned away with reservations for a car because they ran out of cars. I called Hertz and asked if they had any available cars and they told me no they were out. However I was able to go on Kayak and book and got reservation for a car. Can you guess who had that car. Yup Hertz! Then we got to hub for the car and stood in line for 3 HOURS!!!!! One person working. 11 people in front of us. So many people missed there connecting flights. It's not like Chicago didn't know this storm was coming and people would be missing flights. That's to Kayak we made it home.Reviewed 17 Feb. 2021

Cons:Well Ultimately it was my fault but when I put in my search I put for same pick up and drop off location. She. The search came up I saw a deal for a reduced price so I picked it but failed to see it was for a transfer in Chicago so I was to pick up at the airport and drop off at a different location. The agent at Hertz when I rented to car didn’t pout this out to me either so when I brought back the car to the airport I was charge another like $80 for the rental. Was not expecting that because I brought it to the wrong location. I was not happy and will probably not be using kayak to search for a car again... will just book through the dealer so I k ow what I’m gettingReviewed 15 Jul. 2020

Pros:Easy to pick up drop offCons:The interior of the car was clearly not cleaned well since there was a face mask from someone else in the back seat. The agent that checked me in failed to mention the toll road/toll fees. I did not know that there was an option for the tolls to be paid through Hertz or that there was a device installed and how to use that. I logged onto the Illinois Tollway website to enter the information after driving through tolls. Get what you pay forPros:The woman who checked us in was very nice.Cons:There were additional costs which canceled out the discount such as adding my husband as an additional driver. I didn't have enough to cover it on my credit card. I had to use my debit card, so there was a $200 hold which is frustrating when traveling with limited funds. I will stick with what I know in the future. I appreciate that Kayak tries to find good deals for people to save money, but it didn't quite work out that way for this trip. Also, the car was fine, it got us around, but it seemed outdated in that there was only one USB port to charge your phone and no Bluetooth for the radio.Reviewed 15 Oct. 2017

Pros:Provide out of state car to customer with smoking smelling. Even they said enhance cleaning, but it’s not clean and bad smelling, engine light is on all of time. Never advise customer to use EZ pass for toll chargers on highway.....Cons:Please check the car before giving to customers.
