Cons:I didn’t realize the pick up site was NOT at the airport. Not a huge issue since my son was available to pick me up and take me to the rental site. If it would have been after 6PM, it would have been a issue. At return, I had to leave the car on the 5th floor of the parking garage with no one to visually check the car when I handed over the keys. The elevator was non functional so we had to haul our luggage down 5 flights of stairs. Had we been told that when I called for drop off instructions, I would have dropped off my son and our luggage on ground floor before taking the car to the 5th floor. The office attendant was helpful directing us to the lite rail transit station but we had to wait since he was the only one in the office and was tied up on a phone issue with another client Luckily we had allowed extra timeReviewed 31 Dec. 2019

Won't use hertz againPros:Car was clean and efficientCons:We requested pick up at the airport. Luckily before we went to get the car we saw a different address. The car pick up was a 25 min drive from the airport. We were late picking up and had called about being late. They still gave our reservation away and we had to wait for a car in the rental class- they didn't even offer to upgrade to another car they did have ready right away. They wouldn't entertain the idea of waiving the fee to drop off at the airport for when we left since we thought that was were the pick up and drop off were. There were hidden taxes and fees too. Just in general I felt like they were trying to hide the real cost of things. Won't be using them again- I haven't found that things are so hidden with other rental companies.Reviewed 10 Sep. 2016

Price-gouging branch managerPros:I have no problem with the car I rented.Cons:I didn't like the fact that I completely missed the event I had come from Florida to Oregon to attend because 1. I thought my paid-for rental car was at PDX. (It was at a Hertz #5 downtown branch.) 2. I waited in line for almost an hour at the Hertz office at the airport before I was told to go downtown 3. I then called Hertz #5, told them I would be late and took the train downtown as instructed. 4. 20 stops later I got off the train and walked to the downtown office 5. After I got there I had to wait for 2 1/2 hours to get a car 6. Meanwhile the branch manager was hawking car rentals for $350/day to people coming in off the street. I'm 72 yrs. old and this was very difficult for me.Reviewed 10 Jul. 2017

This place needs new managementPros:The car rode well and gas mileage was good.Cons:The rental office is dirty. The garage where the cars are is filthy. The elevator is old and a mess. The stairways are worse. Old clothes lying around and the smell of urine. The employee looked like he just rolled out of bed when we returned the car. He treated us as though we were interrupting him. He seemed troubled when we asked for a receipt. Was not helpful when I asked about Gold Rewards. Worst of all, we watched him responding rudely to another customer who was not a native English speaker, but was trying to communicate some concerns. The employee was discounting to him. Terrible customer servicePros:Cheap, fuel efficientCons:Rude customer service agent at pick up. Kept asking to upsale me into an SUV when I clearly told him I was looking for fuel economy on this trip. At drop off we arrived 3 minutes after close, but before the employee had left. I realized I was going to have to use the drop box and tried to ask him what I needed to do, but all he would say is that I had to pay an extra day and marched off. I had to call customer service to get the full details on what info they needed from me for the drop box. They weren't very helpful, but it got done. Now I'm stuck paying an extra day for a car I no longer have because I was 3-4 minutes late, despite Hertz website stating there is a 29 minute grace period for drop off.Reviewed 22 Nov. 2016

Cons:The rental was booked for a pickup time when the location was closed! I didn’t get my rental even after calling hertz several times receiving at least 5 options until the last agent told me I was just out money and a car.Reviewed 28 Feb. 2021

Cons:I was pretty specific in my search but I was assigned a downtown sore for pickup/drop off. Right in the middle of the protest areas and the homeless camps. It was the wrong vehicle and it only had a 1/4 tank of fuel. While staff attempted to get me another vehicle where I would be staying time was of the essence. I was visiting a dying relative in Lebanon. Hertz tried but Kayak should never have sent me there 72 dollars in addition fees for taxis and Uber. I doubt I’ll search through Kayak again.Reviewed 29 Sep. 2020
