Top tips for hiring a car from Hertz in Reykjavik

  • Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland, and it’s also the largest city in the country. This is something that should be on your radar when you’re planning a trip to Iceland and looking to book Hertz car rentals in Reykjavik. If you know you’re going to spend your time in Reykjavik driving from one place to another throughout the city, you might want to try to rent a compact car that will be great on gas rather than a large SUV that will cost a fortune to fill at the fuel pump.
  • Iceland as a whole doesn’t get as much snow as you might think it would throughout the year. It does, however, accumulate about 100 centimeters, or 40 inches, of snow on an annual basis. If you’re planning to visit Reykjavik during the snowy winter months, that might be reason enough to skip the compact car we just mentioned and go with something that will keep you safe in the snow. Hertz will allow you to request an SUV with 4-wheel drive that will prevent you from encountering any issues as you make your way around Reykjavik.
  • If you visit Reykjavik at the right time, you may be able to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights right from the city. You might also be able to drive about 10 minutes from the city to see the Northern Lights from the nearby Grótta Lighthouse. But light pollution in Reykjavik might make it impossible for you to see the Northern Lights unless you’re willing to drive further north. If you’re going to do this, try to plan your trip out in advance. You might want to think about renting something like a minivan when you book Hertz car rentals in Reykjavik so that you can go with a group in a single vehicle.
  • Visiting Reykjavik for the first time can be a magical experience, but it can also be a confusing one once you start driving around and trying to get a lay of the land. Avoid getting too confused by talking to a Hertz representative about adding a GPS system to your reservation. Hertz has industry-leading GPS options like Hertz Navigation and Hertz NeverLost that can really come in handy for those not familiar with Reykjavik.
  • 25% of our users found car hire from Hertz in Reykjavik for $140 or less.
  • Book your car hire from Hertz in Reykjavik at least 1 day before your trip in order to get a below-average price.
  • Medium car hire from Hertz in Reykjavik are around 39% cheaper than other car types, on average.
