It's Israel!Pros:The price was competitive and the car was what I reserved, and it was clean and performed to my expectations.Cons:Like a lot of Israeli customer service, Sixt left a lot to be desired. The agents who handled my business when picking up the car and returning it were both lacking in some basic customer service abilities (E.g., treat the customer with respect and not as if they're a fool). But, given that this was on Israel, none of this surprised me. The car rental return at the airport in Tel Aviv (Ben Gurion) could stand some basic signage improvement. If you're not previously familiar with the layout of the airport and car return, you will either miss it completely, or you'll have to circle around multiple times before you find it.Reviewed 1 Jul. 2017

Sneaky practices with poor value for many and extra chargesPros:At least they picked the phone at customer service after "only" 5 minutes..Cons:- More than 40 minute wait at the airport to pick up car as there was only one receptionist. - Old car, with clunky shift gear (detail that was not properly highlighted when made booking online). Wanted another $3 for automatic. - Car has been hit all around. Poor condition and look. - As usual, they do not show the required insurance amount in advance, spiking price significantly at the counter. - When called to extend, they require to get physically to one of their offices to hear about special deals. Why this cannot be online? - Looks like everything they can make difficult they will certainly do.Reviewed 10 Jun. 2017

Lots of hidden feesPros:The car was new and cleanCons:I've had good experiences when renting from Sixt in two other countries before and thought I knew what to expect. The daily rental rate was roughly US$11/day with roughly US$32/day added for "taxes and fees". That's where it went south: - When I arrived I was told the car I reserved (BMW 2-Series) had to be cleaned and it would take an extra hour or I could take an upgrade (Opel SUV...not an upgrade in my book) for an additional US$10/day. I chose to wait, then they decided to give me the "upgrade" for free. - I was informed of the mandatory insurance (US$22/day for the minimum coverage). I was offered the upgraded insurance for US$55/day, but declined. Then I was informed that they would be putting a US$1400 reserve on my card because I didn't take the insurance upgrade. - I was only allotted 200km/day and when I returned it after driving it an extra 178km, I was charged and an extra US$47 (roughly US$0.26/km) It all added up to about US$112 for a one day rental with a starting price of US$11 and an overwhelming sense that I had been scammed by a company doing business in more than 100 countries worldwide. Very unhappy customer.Reviewed 23 Sep. 2017

Poor and confusingCons:My reservation didn't show up in the system in Israel so they made me wait close to 1hr and it still didn't show up. I suggested canceling my kayak booking which I did, and they try to book me on site. They then said there was an additional $25/day insurance charge in top of my agreed rental fee even w cc coverage. They said only World cc provides insurance coverage. So when I pulled out my World cc they then backtracked and said that I would still have to pay for insurance but would give $3/day discount. So not only did I waste time coming off a long intl trip but they didn't have their story straight. I got so fed up I took a taxi!Reviewed 1 May 2017

Car was in terrible shape, service at the desk was incompetentPros:The second agent who helped me, the one who actually wrote the contract.Cons:The first agent who helped me tried to make me pay for insurance that was already covered by my credit card saying that " i didn't click it when I made the reservation ". After almost making me go to a difference company or making a new reservation, the other agent (who made my contract) was able to, very easily, fix it. Then, the car that we were given was the most damaged rental that I have ever had. Other than the external damage, the side mirror could not be adjusted. Lastly, the price was much higher than I have ever paid for a rental in Israel, and I have rented from all other companies. This was my first time using Shlomo Sixt and I know that If I have a choice next time, I will not use your service.Reviewed 31 Jul. 2017

Extra Charge!Cons:It was terrible experince. - First off all, sixt israel office told me that, this is american web page and only amerikan can use it for booking. - Than they charge me 100 $ extra for insurance. They says this is mandatory ! ı told them, car rent even cheaper than this but they says , because there is no insurance. - They informed me that, if i return empty tank of gasoline, they will fill it cheaper than out side. But it was opposite ! they charge me 15 $ for 5 litre gasoline ! I will never use Kayak and sixt from now on!Reviewed 9 Oct. 2017

Pros:Our car wasCons:1) It took us an hour just to get to the front of the line at the rental agency to begin our rental process (this after 20 hours of travel), and that was with just 3 persons in front of us! There needs to be an expedited process, or more agents, esp. at peak times. I cannot do this in the future. (on the other hand, drop-off was no problem at all) 2) It is very frustrating to arrive at the rental agency only to learn that the true costs of rental are almost double those stated on KAYAK because of mandatory car insurance that are not included on the posted price, or are not explicit. This is really a KAYAK issue. 3) We rented an SUV because we needed extra luggage space but the trunk on our Opal SUV was quite small and it was not even possible to add a roof rack to this SUV.Reviewed 23 Apr. 2017

Poorly maintained carPros:The service was good and the price was competitive.Cons:The car was poorly maintained. The transmission obviously needed tuning since the entire car shuddered when switching gears and one of the tires was low. The interior upholstery had tears and the exterior had more scratches and dents then we expect from a rental car.Reviewed 29 Oct. 2016

Felt like a bait and switchPros:They gave us an upgraded car - that said, we didn't really want it since it was smaller (BMW kind of sports car) and new (we were terrified the whole time of scratching it). Drop off was straightforward and the guy who received our car told us where to go to get gas to not have to pay their refill rates.Cons:Pickup was terrible. We waited in line for over an hour, with only a few people ahead of us. Each pickup took over 20 minutes. We have the Chase Saphire credit card that covers car insurance in Israel. They didn't let us reject the coverage and charged us $18 per day. That made our seemingly good deal rate of ~$22/day nearly double in cost. The agent who rented us the car didn't care that we had a letter from the credit card asserting that we were covered.Reviewed 24 Apr. 2017

Cuidado con la información de KayakPros:The service was very good.Cons:The información we got though the Kayak web was not appropiate. They did not included the assurance that made moré than doble the price of the renting. We got a very bad surprise with that.Reviewed 26 Aug. 2016

3 times more expensive than suggestedPros:Easy pickup and drop offCons:Although Sixt know that basic car insurance is mandatory in Israel, it is in no way indicated in the rental conditions. The insurance ended up being twice the price of the original offer I got on Kayak. The Sixt salesmen are well familiar with the issue and told me I'm not the first one to complain. Yet on the Kayak website their prices misleadingly appear as cheap and the rental conditions say that insurance charges "MAY" apply, depending on the country. Nowhere it was indicated that the insurance in Israel is mandatory and that I MUST buy it.Reviewed 10 Nov. 2016
