Quick car pick up and returnPros:Upgraded to an eight passenger Nissan Armada for my family of 6. The SUV was impeccably clean and very comfortable. It made Our long drives along the south Kohala and kona coast very enjoyable. Quick pick up and return, no complaints there.Cons:Little bit pricey but the positives overshadow the cost.Reviewed 19 Oct. 2015

Great car rental experience. Book early, and add your Blue Chip numberPros:Although I hadn't added my Blue Chip loyalty number ahead of time, I was dropped off at the member-only counter. No waits! The regular line had huge waits! Got a great rate by booking early.Cons:If I hadn't added my Blue Chip number (and sites like Kayak or Travelocity don't insist you add this at time of booking) I would have had to wait a long time to pick up my car.Reviewed 1 Aug. 2017

It was not a new carPros:Lots of space whit a van !Cons:The car was very dirty, the car was a lot of bump, graffiti and many miles (over 40 000)Reviewed 29 Apr. 2018

Cons:They lead me to believe that my personal insurance would not cover the car and upsold me insurance that I did not need. They lied directly to my face which resulted in over $400 more in charges.Reviewed 19 May 2019

Jeep RentalCons:thrifty is the worst. I will never use them again. We rented a jeep wrangler for a vacation in hawaii and when we arrived, they upped the price $25/day. Upon return, we were dropping off the car and they told us the price was going to be $850 for 4 days, when it should have been $450. They said because we were 20 minutes late for our drop off time. And they NEVER gave us a drop off time. After stress at the counter arguing with person there, they honored our original rate. I didn't need this added stress right before a flight. Also they barely offered to show me how to take the top of the car off when i rented it because it was a convertible. Bad experience.Reviewed 14 Dec. 2015

We felt like the pricing was a bit dishonestPros:Ease of booking, return was fast.Cons:When we made our reservation, the total was $293 for the entire week. We did upgrade the car on arrival for an extra $30/day but we ended up spending $676. That means there was over $175 in mysterious fees that were never mentioned to us. Also, we were told the upgraded car was $30/day when the agent actually meant $30/day IN ADDITION to what we were already paying for the lower priced car. We got that cleared up before we left but he was VERY unclear about it.Reviewed 24 Nov. 2016

Misleading pick up location led to major hassle.Cons:Booked via and although my confirmation email said it was a hotel, the pick up location address mapped to the aiport location so didn't worry too much. When I arrived on Friday night, I was told the rate would be $1000 more for the week since I was picking up at the airport not the hotel -- or I could wait until the next morning and pick up at the hotel. I chose to wait, but by morning the hotel had no available car for me. After a long phone call to Thrify customer service and escalating to a supervisor they finally agreed to honor my reservation rate and get me a car, I just had to traipse back to the airport. A major hassle and extra expenses in Uber fares to get the car I reserved. Thrify personnel said this frequently happens as will just switch the location to get a better rate. Beware of this trick!Reviewed 5 Feb. 2018

Pros:I thought the staff at the Kailua Kona airport on the Big Isand (HI) were the most friendly and efficient that I have dealt with in Hawaii. I could not believe how quickly they checked me in and out.Reviewed 5 Feb. 2017

Pros:Nothing.Cons:Your agent would not honor the rental reservation because our flight arrived late. While there were cars available on your website, the agent said she had no cars available. We had to rent a car from Avis. I will never rent from Thrifty again and I will tell everyone I know about the horrible experience I had with your company and your representative.Reviewed 4 Jan. 2021
