Pros:Pick-up / drop-off very easy and fast. The 4WD vehicle we rented was not in stock so they upgraded us to a Jeep for a nominal fee.Cons:The built in extra charges always leave a sour feeling but that's true with any rental company. Bait and switch moveCons:Dollar sold me a car for our trip to the Big Island in advance in the SUV category, claiming we'd get a Jeep Compass or similar. When we arrived, there were several 4X4 Compasses on the lot, however the agent tried to put us in a two wheel drive vehicle. I asked if we could have one of the Compasses with 4X4 and he said none were available. Meanwhile the agent in the next stall over was trying to upsell another customer into a Compass. We ended up being strong armed into a pricey "upgrade" to a Nissan Pathfinder in order to get 4X4 that we wanted to visit some of the places we desired to see on our vacation. All in all it felt sleazy and like we were getting ripped off. I wouldn't rent from here again.Reviewed 17 Aug. 2017

I requested an economy car, got a mini van..for onPros:the driver seat was comfortable.Cons:When I signed up for the car in May, I requested an economy car. When I arrived, the Dollar rental assoicate informed me I had actually rented a "special-generic vehicle or similiar"? This was not very obvious when booking on your website online. I felt my online rental arrangement was very misleading. They said they could only give me the minivan, since this was the type of vehicle they had the most of on the lot, that this was the only car they could offer me at my rate and also no more economy cars were available. I would have never booked a minivan for one person? When I requested a smaller car than the mini van, they told me I could rent a compact car, but could not honor my rate and said I had to pay more. Alex, my associate, was not very nice, spoke with an attitude, like "lady, take the minivan". Crystal, the location manager, only repeated what Alex said, and offered no solution or accomodation. I felt stuck with a huge car on Hawaii and didn't think I receive the best customer service at Dollar. I will not be using Kayak again.Reviewed 23 Oct. 2016

Pros:Friendly staff.Cons:Long line to get car- only 3 counter people. Due to Covid dollar was renting through Hertz. So it was really 3 companies altogether renting at same facility, so expect a wait until things get back to normal.Reviewed 10 Apr. 2021
