(Almost) Stranded at JFKPros:After our flight was cancelled and re-scheduled 21 hours later, we decided we didn't want to spend the night in NYC. I quickly navigated to KAYAK and Alamo was at the top with the best price and unlike the others, had a car available. After getting our check bag out of the system and making the trek to the Alamo desk, we were met with quick paperwork, friendly staff and a complimentary bottle of water. I think my wife took a second one as well. The friendly staff in the parking lot even upgraded our car from economy to mid-size with satellite radio. We were home in five hours, and the hour drive to our airport the next morning went without a hitch.Cons:The car was rather new, but my wife noticed a black smudge on the passenger seat. No big deal. My side was very clean.Reviewed 28 May 2017

Pros:Staff was friendly but I overpaid. There were no premium sedan options so I was give lower end model because that’s all they had.Cons:Didn’t receive value for my money. Disappointed.Reviewed 22 Jun. 2020

Pros:All the people I interacted with at the Alamo desk (once I could find it) were particularly kind and helpful. I very much appreciated their help, and a few folks went above and beyond with their service.Cons:The location at JFK airport was tough to find -- it's actually located within another rental car company's pickup area. I couldn't find it at first, and I listened to the directions on Alamo's 800 number, and they told me to wait for a shuttle to pick me up and take me to the location. After waiting 30+ minutes in the rain, I finally realized where Alamo was located -- and that I did not in fact need to take a shuttle to get there after all! Confusing signs and poor communication with headquarters.Reviewed 5 Jan. 2016

Pros:Check in and check out was very easy.Cons:The car was dirty on the outside and the inside smelled like someone had been smoking a pack of cigarettes. Had to have it clean when I arrived at my destinations.Reviewed 29 Nov. 2020

Pros:Fast pickup, no long processing at the counter. Waited on immediately and car was ready, not complicated with a lot of questions. The actual drop off was fast, but the first problem occurred within 1 hour of drop off when I received the email itemizing the charges which was wrong.Cons:I was incorrectly charged for refueling two gallons of gas, even though I topped off the tank less than two miles from the rental car drop off location. When I FUELED the vehicle I clicked the pump 3 to 4 times to make sure the tank was topped off, and the fuel gauge read full with 350 miles of available range shown on the vehicles computer. I had to call to get this refuel charge removed. Now I’m worried about the EZ-Pass charges not being charged correctly.Reviewed 13 Oct. 2020

Pros:The JFK staff member at counter was friendly, competent, quick to serve and outline 'new' license plate EZ-PASS. This kind of agent will be the big difference between Alamo/National and others. Keep this guy!! Give him a raise. . .Reviewed 27 Mar. 2020

Overall goodPros:This was one of the fastest pickup we have experienced. The price was very good, the car was clean and comfortable.Cons:It would be nice to have the navigation system built into the car instead of a separate unit.Reviewed 23 Nov. 2016
