Pros:Drop off personnel was helpful.Cons:Rented one type of car and when I got there had to wait the original car was not available no incentive was offered for the mix up ended up paying more then originally planned for a smaller car. And car was dirty and empty on gas when received when I went to the counter to inform they answered that is all that was available.Reviewed 16 Sep. 2020

May try someone else for better customer servicePros:The versa were rented was comfortable and very clean. The tank was full so there was no stopping when we were already late leaving. I had a minor credit card issue but they patiently waited while I fixed it with my credit card company. The one woman we dealt with was very professional even while we were stressed with what was going on, unlike her co-workers.Cons:At first they were out of cars and told me we were going to wait "hours" for a car because Thrify overbooked car rentals that weekend. I was upset because I had a 8am reservations and around 9:15 we were still waiting for a car. I received an awful attitude from one of the clerks for being upset for not understand why the company overbooked, and can't fulfill a reservation that it confirmed via email. I also witnessed a woman being screamed at for respect by the "manager" because she was upset that the company wouldn't talk to her because her husband was the one the reservation was in. He didn't speak a word of English, I think he was Russian. So how could the manager communicate??? He was screaming at her in front of everyone there. It was highly unprofessional. I'm in the restaurant business and understand how customers can be hard but I witnessed the whole thing and he handled himself with no professionalism. On top of all it they gave me grief for not buying their insurance over the more affordable third party one.Reviewed 11 Apr. 2017

Pros:Customer service was good. Overall pick up/ drop off was quick and easy. Car was clean and drove well.Cons:The toll pass was not worth it. A total rip off. The only reason I purchased was because I didn't have an EZ pass and was unsure if I would be able to pay cash.Reviewed 11 Dec. 2020

Asking when I would get a car wasn’t helpful: they told me they don’t know. I wasn’t given any options what I should do, when I can get a car or anything... Scam or just incompetence?Pros:The price I reserved was incredible. It seemed worth taking a $40 cab to the location to pick it up. Little did I know...Cons:...once I got to the Thrifty counter, there were 35 other people there, waiting in an unmoving line. Apparently they were out of economy cars, so rather than upgrading folks to whatever they had in stock--which is what every other rental car company I've used would do--they were either charging 5 times the quoted price or else making people wait for economies to be returned. I never even got to talk to a counter person because they were so backed up. It looked like a refugee camp. One person told me she'd been waiting for 2 hours. Another person find me she'd checked out, signed all the paperwork, run her credit card and everything, and THEN found out there were 7 people ahead of her waiting for cars to be returned before she'd get hers. I had somewhere I *needed* to be, so I left Thrifty and got a car through Alamo. Alamo's rate was more than twice what Thrifty had promised, but they were friendly, swift, and there was no bait and switch. Oh, and even though I paid for a compact, they upgraded me for free. Thrifty is either crooked or incompetent. Either way, I WILL NEVER USE THRIFTY AGAIN.Reviewed 1 Nov. 2016

Pros:I was told when I arrived that the rental location had a shortage on vehicles and was advised to cancel my reservation if I did not want to wait around 2 hours for a return to come through. I went to all other rental car companies in the airport and no one was able to accommodate a last minute booking so was forced to wait and indeed ended up waiting 2 hours although I had made the reservation close to a week in advance. This was very inconvenient and I was not able to get to my destination in time.Cons:It would have been nice if I was contacted ahead of time to be notified of the shortage to have enough time to make alternate arrangements. Further, I checked Thrify's website and was still shown that vehicles were available. When I asked the customer service rep, she said their website was "broken". There were at least five other parties in my same situation at this location, each of which was frustrated and had somewhere to be.Reviewed 12 Oct. 2020

Pros:Every aspect of this experience was awful. When I returned the car, the gentleman was quite nice though.Cons:I have never had a worse customer experience in my life. This is the first written compliant I’ve ever made, just to be clear on the degree of my sentiments. The desk staff was so rude and condescending, so utterly unhelpful that if any one of their multiple statements, tones, looks, chuckles, were made by an employee of mine, I would have fired them on the spot. I fly into jfk 6-8 times per year and usually rent a car. I will never again use your services in jfk or any other location. Having had over 15 years of retail sales management and training experience, I can assure you this was the single worst example of customer service I have not only experienced personally, but also witnessed. Also, having nearly 20 years of customer facing retail experience myself and understanding their daily struggles, I tend to treat employees such as desk staff so well I regularly get upgrades, free services, comps, etc. I can honestly say that it was not my demeanor or actions that justified anything remotely close to how I was treated.Reviewed 10 Dec. 2019
