Not informing us of feesPros:Quick and easy return, well done.Cons:The person at the counter added my wife as a driver ran the credit card and then notified us that it would be an additional daily fee. When we asked to reverse it she said that we lose our reservation and have to rebook it at whatever the current rate was. We said to do it and we were going to call to see if that was in fact the case. She then said they could reverse the charge but it would take a long time. After reversing the charge we looked at the bill and it was still about $30 over what we were quoted in the reservation. There was an "optional" tire warranty fee that we had taken off and then it was the amount we had been quoted. It's unacceptable to me to add additional fees without even acknowledging it to the customer. We ended up getting a great vehicle at the price quoted so it all worked out, but the sales approach for upgrades was really unnerving to my wife and me, and we are likely going to add Payless rentals to our no go list.Reviewed 11 Nov. 2016

Pushy salesmanPros:Easy drop offCons:Geoffry~I believe was our sales rep and he was AWFUL!! He tried to sell us 1. insurance 2. gas He claimed that Washington state was DIFFERENT than every state in the US and if we had any body damage, we would be charged for all days the car was out of service. I declined, as USAA covers me. He also tried to convince me to pay ahead for gas, then bring my gas reciepts to the lower level after my rental to recieve a reimbursement on my gas! ? what? He also told me that Payless offered a competitive gas price of $3.69, when gas was $2.85 in the area. He became very hostile and aggressive, my son was uncomfortable with the whole transition. I had a Kayak reservation and told him to honor it, and he was angry about that!! AWFUL! it was a terribly uncomfortable exchange for what I thought would be a simple car pick up. I am 53 years old, and have never witnessed this open dishonesty at a car rental. Shame on Payless.Reviewed 8 Dec. 2015

Pros:Not a thing.Cons:A rental car location at an international airport that is only open between 10am and 6pm... Just let that sink in and then extrapolate to all of the other areas this company could fail, because they do indeed fail in all of the other areas. It is actually impossible to reach anyone at the counter of this location, even if you do call during their limited business hours. Try calling that location and entering the option for lost and found and you'll be taken to some scam line while entering other valid options will actually hang up on you. The list goes on and on. Check the final price on your statementCons:The representative did not have our car size in and gave us a larger car. Then he tried to charge us a much higher price than the price I was suppose to be originally charged. Good thing I checked the statement before we left the counter! Make sure to check your statement!!! Also, another problem we had was that the guy told us we would get a certain car, but when we went to get our car, he had given us another car which we had told him we didn't want. Great Payless SwindleCons:To put it simply, Payless's business model is fraud. They bring you through the door by quoting one price and then charge you much, much more for services and products you never selected or wanted. I should have known better after reading other reviews but, honestly, I didn't think that KAYAK would include such scams in their offers. I won't rent again from Payless (obviously), but what I really hope is that people at KAYAK ask themselves if it's worth risking their own reputation by doing business with companies like Payless.Reviewed 14 Jun. 2017

The longest line for pickupPros:The car was clean and we paid less than all of the other rental car services available at SeaTac.Cons:It took the two customer service people and hour to get cars for the 4 people ahead of us in line. At no point did they try to bring in other service professionals to help all of us waiting in line which was 20 people long and went out the door. The guys were nice but it was disappointing to see other companies bringing in extra staff and managers to get everyone trough their lines and we all just stood there. At one point, people further back in line started pulling up prices for other rental car companies and walking over to their desks to rent from them for a higher price.Reviewed 19 Jul. 2016

SCAMMERS, BUYER BEWAREPros:Absolutely nothingCons:was quoted originally for $57.48, then called customer service and informed them I was a young renter (24 years old, been driving for 8 years). a $25/day charge was added for 2 days so my new total was $122.43. When I arrived at the airport to pick up my rental, the lady at the counter didn't even acknowledge me. She went on to tell me that it was going to be $122.43 PLUS a $25/day young renter charge. When I tried to inform her that I had already been quoted that price, she refused to let me continue talking and kept interrupting me. She should be fired from her job because she clearly doesn't know a thing about being a decent human being, let alone customer service.
