Pros:The drop off was easyCons:The lady at counter kept harassing me to get an upgrade. I had already paid for what I wanted and I needed to get to my event on time. She ended up charging an extra $13 for Sirus radio which I didn’t approve. It stated on the receipt that customer requested it which I didn’t.Reviewed 10 Oct. 2020

Pros:Drop off was easyCons:The lady at counter kept harassing me to upgrade. I was in an a hurry for a birthday party so I said from beginning just let me have what I already paid for. She still charged me an extra $13 for Sirus radio and the receipt stated that customer requested it which I didn’t.Reviewed 10 Oct. 2020

Pros:Nothing. By the way Kayak, the review you requested was for a Dollar rental in Atlanta not College Park.Cons:Booked a pickup truck but they had none available. Was offered a mid-size SUV which I accepted, only to find someone else sitting in vehicle after dragging luggage to car. Had to pay top dollar at car rental company next to Dollar for same day booking. Never again Kayak/Dollar.Reviewed 17 Feb. 2021

Great service other than pick upPros:It was a very good experience after having to put up with a one and a half hour waiting line. Other than having to stand for longer than it took my to fly in, the experience was great. There must be a way to make pick up of a reserved car more efficient.Cons:The one and a half hour waiting line to reach the counter and begin the rental process. Extremely ineficient pick up system.Reviewed 21 Dec. 2015

Pros:Everone I delt with was pleasant and nice. Car was clean and smelled fresh.Cons:The customer service rep upon pick up was very pleasant and friendly. Except for the fact that she did speak fast. Because of this I did not realize I had agreed to insurance coverage. She did not tell me the cost per day for it and did not point it out on the contract. I did not know I was being charged $28.49 a day until I dropped off the car and saw the full amount charged to my credit card. Upon returning home I called the company and in the end was refunded half of that amount. While that helped, I felt taken advantage of. I feel they are taking advantage of customers who are traveling and are generally in a hurry so they go through everything so fast that you don't even know what you are being charged for. It is common practice for companies to put a hold on your card for more than the amount you will be charged in the end so I didn't think any thing of the larger amount shown on the receipt at check in. Lesson learned: LOOK AT EVERY CHARGE BEFORE YOU WALK AWAY FROM THE COUNTER!!Reviewed 29 Aug. 2017

Hideous Customer ServicePros:I did like the car I was able to get for the price.Cons:The counter agent was SO RUDE! I don't carry a credit card, only my debit card. I have plenty of money in the account, but they insisted on seeing and writing down my flight ariival and departure schedule, seeing a THIRD form of ID, and then he said they were running s credit check!! Are, you kidding me? For a one day car rental? It was a total of $54, which could be drafted immediately from my account! And, they wanted to run a credit check? And, then on top of all of that when I didn't want their insurance he was SO insulting. I almost felt like they were going to have some thugs in the garage to crash into my car just so he could prove his point that I needed to buy his insurance. I have never been treated worse, to the point I wanted to say to the guy 'You are a Dollar ticket counter guy and that's your career!' It was horrible AND it took 45 minutes just to get the car to leave. I won't be back, Dollar!Reviewed 14 Feb. 2017

Extremely disappointedPros:Drop off was easyCons:Reserved the "special" for a little more money, expecting a better vehicle since I was paying more. Showed up and was told I would be in a Fiat. I'm a big guy, so that just wasn't going to work. I asked if there was anything else for the same price... Nope. So they were making me pay extra for the same compact vehicle I could have reserved for cheaper up front if I had not selected the "special." Since I don't fit in a Fiat very well, I asked for the next cheapest option. Apparently that was an economy car that was $14 per day more expensive. So my $96 car rental turned into about a $170 car rental, and had I chosen in the beginning the car I ended up being given (instead of selecting the mystery car special), I would have saved about $50. The car I ended up getting smelled like cigarette smoke. So much so that my clothes and luggage had a smoke smell to them until I was able to wash them. Extremely disappointing experience overall.Reviewed 2 Oct. 2016

Tried to overcharge me 3 timesPros:The friendly man Kenny who helped me find my car.Cons:I will try to avoid using Dollar/Thrifty again. I had a reservation confirmed for $72, but the first attendant rang me up for $260 because “the rate had changed.” I then showed her my confirmation and she begrudgingly honored my rate. Then I tried to buy insurance and they quoted me at $64/day. When I said no, they offered me a rate of $14/day. Lastly, I needed to add an extra half day to my rental and they said it would be $250 additional. Again, I had a printed rate of $23.13/extra day on my receipt. The man I spoke with told me the rate had changed. I read to him verbatim what the receipt said and he finally agreed to honor it. The car I had planned to rent for $72.12 ended up costing me $169 total. Lesson learned: always save your receipts.Reviewed 15 Oct. 2018

Good car, but New charges at checkout and no gracePros:The car was almost new and the size of the car was just about right for me. Drove about 400 miles in a day with no issues. No complaints about the vehicle it self.Cons:At the checkout I was tagged with a "Customer facility charge", making the final price 150% of what I was expecting to pay. When asked, I was told "Thats a standard charge by all companies here in ATL airport. We're sorry that your booking site didn't show this. That charge can't be taken off." Not sure who's mistake it is, the rental company (Dollar in my case) or the website I booked from (kayak in my case). Regardless of who, I paid for their mistake(s). So in short my experience with the "process" was mediocre. And there is no grace period, returned few minutes late and got tagged with additional hour.Reviewed 30 Jan. 2017

LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE...waited 1 hour 23 minutePros:I liked the car, I rented a sonic, really cute and easy on gasCons:I waited 1 hour and 23 minutes at the airport to get the car in Atlanta. My reservation was was 4 pm. I signed for the car at 5:23. Selected the car and departed airport at 6p. Due to the delay I had to extend my trip and rent the car 1 extra day...upon returning at 5pm 1 additional day later, I was charged 38$ per day and my Kayak reservation was not honored. The reason was I returned car after reservation time..again I didn't leave the airport with the car verifiably until 6pm ...nonetheless, car quote was $42.00 for 2 days and $22 for add'l days....I was charged a total of $169.00 at a rate of $38per day...due to Dollar'S lack of Customer service AND FAILURE TO CHANGE PICK UP TIME..I will not use them again unless they are 1000000% the only choice.. I was penalized financially for their lack of consideration and lack of expedited lines....2/13- 2/16 were rental dates..Reviewed 18 Feb. 2016

Don't do it! Do not book with Dollar!!!Cons:Let me start by saying I have never written a negative review, but out experience was so horrible I couldn't refrain from earning other. We rent cars at least three times a year and renting with Dollar has been the worst traveling experience to date. When we went to pick up our car the line was huge. All the other rental agencies weren't. We waited for over 45 minutes in line. When we went to the counter the employee, James, was a JERK! He was arrogant, rude and it was the worst customer service we have ever received ANYWHERE! We had booked a deal on Kayak that said that it would fit 5 people in a car and a huge suitcase and they gave us a Ford Fiesta. How was this supposed to fit my family of 5? When we explained this to him he said he could get us a bigger car but it would be and additional $20 a day- making our total bill now more handouble what we were paying. We tried to explain the situation and he kept being rude back. He kept yelling "next in line", while we were up there taking to him trying to work it out. I told it was rude he wasn't helping us and trying to push us out. He said we were taking to long and to go back in the back of the 45 minute line. I told him we couldn't afford $20 a day for just moving up one size of vehicle and he said that was too bad because they were sold out and he obviously didn't care or didn't want to help people out. Did I mention that we had 3 kids with us under the age of 5 and had just come off a 4 hour flight? We finally agreed to his ridiculous terms so we could get a car for our kids who had now waited with us at Dollar for well over an hour. James was so rude and apathetic. It would have been nice to get the rental we had originally signed up for and to have had someone with great customer service. Dollar may be cheaper but they stick it to you in the end. So disappointed.Reviewed 17 Jan. 2017
