Our worst experience with a rental car companyCons:The first problem was there was no staff at the inside counter. There was a sign telling customers to go outside to the kiosk (in freezing weather). At the kiosk, customers had to wait outside. There were 4 customers waiting in line while there were 3 employees inside the kiosk with only 1 helping customers. When we finally were waited on, we were told there was a limit of 150 miles, which was not a problem for us, but was contrary to the unlimited mileage stated in our email. We then were told that we could not rent without proof of insurance. Our proof of insurance was in our car, not with us. It was nearly midnight and we had no way of getting proof of insurance, so they would not rent to us. Nothing in our confirmation email said anything about needing proof of insurance to rent.Reviewed 13 Dec. 2016

Excellent Customer Service; Smoky carPros:Our rental agent was amazing in Seattle! She was quick, efficient, did not try to hard sell additional insurance. In addition, she was kind, professional and had excellent customer service skills.Cons:We picked up the car around 9:00 pm, and the car was parked in a dark area of the garage. I did a walk around inspection and the car looked great, with a few minor scratches. I did not think to check the interior. The interior was clean, but the front seats were really stained and there was a burn mark from a cigarette on the driver's seat. We were also missing a floor mat on the passenger side. But, the worst part was the awful cigarette smoke smell. It was so bad that we often drove with the windows open. My rating reflects the smell; and I will always check the interior before driving away!Reviewed 17 Oct. 2015

Cons:The first car they gave me clearly had mechanical problems. Also, the attendant did not check the physical condition of the exterior of the car with me. When I came in to return the poorly functioning car for another, I asked for my discount rate (via Kayak) and the woman at the counter said the computer automatically changes it to the full rate when exchanging a vehicle. I insisted on my original rate since the car was performing badly, and I waited around for another 20 minutes while they tried to override the function in the system. I did get a decent car eventually, but it smelled like cigarette smoke. I probably won't risk using them again.Reviewed 19 Oct. 2015

upcharge cityPros:the hyundai santa fe worked. a good car.Cons:they didn't put the ski racks on as i requested and BILLED me anyway. i had to point it out and was promised a refund of the charges. the form they asked me to fill out online to speed my pickup asked me the date of issuance of my driver's license. THAT IS NOT CLEARLY STATED ON MY CA LICENSE and so the form was incomplete and no speed occured. they asked if i wanted a toll prepay which NO ONE has asked me before and because i was in a hurry i said yes 30 BUCKS. probably paid 20 more than i needed. she didn't care obviouslyReviewed 19 Jan. 2016

Pros:The drop off experience was great she was very friendly and helpful.Cons:The pick up experience was horrible. After a long flight The last thing I wanted Was for somebody to give me attitude about a car rental, she seemed like she did not want to help me or like she was having a really bad day and I got to pay for it, literally since she even added a manual charge of $91 to my rental. I will never ever rent from this company ever again. It was not a friendly and easy interaction and I would definitely not recommend EZ or kayak in the future to any of my Friends and family members literally since she even put a man he'll charge of $91 to my rentalReviewed 8 Feb. 2016

UnhappyCons:Their customer service was aweful. The car did not have a full tank of gas, had chocolate or something spilled on the back seat and what felt like soda which had exploded on the steering wheel. There was also garbage in the back seat. We did not notice the garbage and stuff in the back seat until we made it to our destination. We did clean the interior of the car and filled the gas tank prior to returning the vehicle.Reviewed 27 Nov. 2018

Pros:The van was very niceCons:They don't appear to have enough employees for the volume of business they have. The line to pick up the car was long and the process time consuming. Rude Counter AgentPros:NothingCons:The reservation expired because the time it took to get from the airport to the counter was unavoidably extended. The counter agent told us the reservation expired and then told us we should have arrived to the counter on time and then tried to up-sell us a larger and more expensive car. We moved on to the Alamo counter and were very happy with the service and price we received. I would not use Kayak or E-Z Rent-A-Car again.Reviewed 16 Oct. 2015
