Pros:The car was great.Cons:The pick-up at Ft. Lauderdale is difficult for people that did not fly into the airport. There is nowhere for a person to drive up and drop you off. Once you find your way into the lot, it is not clear where to go and Hertz no longer has many employees in the lot area for assistance. It's a long walk back into the terminal and a Hertz counter, which is ultimately where you need to go. The car had a number of scratches before I picked it up. Hertz made it my responsibility to document these scratches before taking the car off the lot. You should not do that to people. You know that the scratches exist. You should pre-print them on the rental agreement before handing it to me to sign. It's not fair to try and stick me with scratches that I have nothing to do with. The return in Stuart was also a bit of a problem. There were nine people ahead of me when I got there and only one person working to help people. That one person was taking a great deal of time with each of the people in front of me. I eventually left the keys and walked away hoping that the the staff could check my car in without me and e-mail the receipt, which they eventually did. Cons:When I arrived at the Hertz location at FLL I was unapologetically told there would be at least an hour wait for a car even though I had a reservation. There were also about 40 other people who were waiting in the hot garage. There were cars waiting to be rented sitting right in from of us and I was told those cars were for people who had reservations......I had a reservation!Reviewed 18 Feb. 2021

Pros:I made a reservation and after a flight from SFO and needing a car to drive 2 hrs. to Naples, I got to your counter and you had no cars available so I had to go counter to counter at the FLL airport to find another car rental available. I rented a car from Alamo and was treated extremely nicely with a Nissan Altima for less than Hertz was charging me. It was so unbelievable to me that you make a reservation which was confirmed and you arrive at the counter and you are told there are no cars available of any type. Bad business.Cons:You do not honor a confirmed reservation and turn your customer away and do not try to accommodate them at all. Not good business.Reviewed 8 Mar. 2017

They nickel and dime you for EVERYTHINGPros:The car was clean. They said they were upgrading us but they just gave us the type of car I rented.Cons:It’s so frustrating to rent with Hertz because you think you rented the car for one price. Then you go to pick up the car and you have to pay almost triple for the minimum insurance. Sure you can go without insurance, but the whole time you’ll be uneasy. The thing about insurance is they have the same policy weather or not you take out extra, but they charge you for it separately. Were You thinking of sharing the driving one of the 5 days? Extra fee for everyday. Your next question is Do you want to buy a full tank of gas upfront or $10/gallon later? You think, I’m only using a quarter tank, I’ll remember to fill up. Then there is no gas station near the airport and you might miss your flight to fill up the tank. So I started thinking my car rental was $120 for 5 days, I ended up spending close to $700! With a medium insurance and extra driver for a day. Please hertz- make your insurance policies and extra fees something we can add on upfront for a more reasonable price. I honestly don’t see why insurance isn’t automatically included (besides from a 100% profit standpoint).Reviewed 20 Dec. 2017

Worst check in experience everCons:We prepaid for the rental, spent 45 minutes waiting in line, once we got to the agent another 10minutes for agent to try to upsell us, then went to pick up car, waited another 15 minutes in the heat waiting for a car to show up, process was confusing. Getting directions from someone in a different state on a monitor telling us where to go pick up the car is insane if the process changes due to some out of stock issue at the airport. We were in a hurry and a near two hour check in after a long day was not in the plan. the local branch could have done a lot better by having more people at the counter, or simplified the whole process like it is done in most other airports, or training their folks to smile and be less crabby.Reviewed 3 Jul. 2017

Pros:I enjoyed the car.Cons:I waited in line for nearly 20 minutes to pick up a vehicle I had reserved in advance. Hertz simply did not have enough staff present to handle the influx of people requiring service. In addition, in the convertible I rented, Hertz very dangerously left a seat cushion/booster seat in the rear of the vehicle, **unsecured**. Given that I had rented a convertible, I put the roof down upon leaving the rental center. As soon as I accelerated on the highway, I very nearly lost the seat, which would have been highly dangerous for other motorists.Reviewed 14 Feb. 2017

Pros:There were 12 counters plus two for Premier members.At the general counter there were only two persons. I was behind 14 persons and luggage, possibly seven rentals, I suppose. Finally, I was directed to the Kiosk. Kevin appeared on screen. Very unfriendly. Tried his best to charge me extra for additional twenty seven a day comp insurance, although I had taken car rental insurance with you (please check my reservation). He went on about empty gas return, its advantages and the $10 a gallon charges. Talked about upgrades within the class I rented, he said he'll give a jeeep accent instead of the RAV4. It took over thirty minutes. He charged my Chase Sapphire but then called the card company. Altogether an additional twenty five minutes. When I signed the docs I saw an additional $174 charge for upgrade. I cancelled it. Kevin was unhappy. I just wanted to go with my RAV4. I go to pick up car, theres a banged up Accent. Seats could not be adjusted. Dirty and smelly car. Lots of dents outside (have a copy of dent marking sheet) I am a unhappy camper. Hertz says they are number one, but not in my books. TerriblePros:Being able to rent the car online in advanceCons:When I arrived at the airport rental location I did not like Hertz's video check-in service. More importantly, the representative did not tell me they had no cars.He only tried to "upsell" me on a nicer car (that wasn't actually available). When I got to the lot to pick up the car, there was a long line of people waiting. No one said we had to put our name in to the guy holding a clip board, but I finally figured that out. When I did so he said there would be a wait for a car. I asked how long and he avoided answering directly. Finally, when pressed, he said 1-2 hours. I found another company who had a car immediately and then returned to Hertz where they canceled my reservation. I need to confirm that I got my money back.Reviewed 2 Oct. 2017
