If there were a lower rating I would give it.Pros:Nothing staff is rude. The absolute worst.Cons:I picked up my car WITH my car insurance information (which they require in NYC. Totally bogus. No other renter requires that) my insurence had no experation date... with out the date I wasn't allowed to rent. I asked "how do we move forward?" The desk worker literally threw my credit card and lincense at me and said "come back with an experation." I rented from Enterprise. And it was great. I would NEVER rent here. This was my third time; all in different states. Horrible experiences. Shame on me, I guess.Reviewed 16 May 2017

False adverisementPros:Returning the car was a breeze.Cons:Unlimited mileage advertised but it wasn't the case when I went to pick up the car. Unexpected policy about insurance when you are from another borough within the same city (which I had never heard of before). I was told to provide proof of FULL insurance coverage OR a round trip ticket. So I not only needed to provide a letter stating that my personal car was fully insured but I also ended up purchasing their own insurance. This is a car I needed within a few hours in order to start my orientation week with my new job and the rep clearly stated that she couldn't give me the car if I didn't provide the info. Had a relative not been with me, I would've had to return home empty ended after traveling 23 miles with traffic. Never again!Reviewed 9 Apr. 2017

Car clean and reliable, location sketchyPros:The car was great. I didn’t have any issues, it was a good size, reliable, all around good for the money.Cons:I had a significant issue with payment. This location charged my card almost $200 more than they were supposed to. Although the issue was eventually resolved and the money was refunded, this definitely gives me pause about renting with this company again. Also, make sure your tank is full when you retrieve the car. I forgot to do so and realized it was only filled halfway and had to spend almost $50 filling it up before I returned it. Also, the location is pretty dirty. If I didn’t have the issue with my card being overcharged I wouldn’t have any issues with returning here, but that is definitely a concern.Reviewed 26 May 2018

Local Rental InsuranceCons:Was not allowed to rent the car due to them changing their local rental policy. The counter ladies instructed me that I had to have full coverage, on my own(I do not own a car, but carry non owners insurance). The non owners coverage that I have used for 10 years was not acceptable either. This was not in their online documentation, I had that coverage. I walked across the room and rented from anothe carrier and, while in line, watched the counter attendants turn away every group of people who had a reservation. No one understood why the policy had changed and, even though I had purchased collision insurance thru the kayak rental(which was the only full coverage I didn't carry), but apparently that wasn't acceptable either. There was no opportunity to purchase the insurance, and no solution. I have no idea how this company can operate this way, but know that they have lost my business and a lot of others.Reviewed 17 Oct. 2016

Cons:As a resident of NYC area, the "fine print" about 150 miles per day maximum was a surprise. The pay before hand was not useful. The car was rented due to an auto accident, and the initial contract for a few days was prior to learning about the insurer paying for the car. The extension of the rental could not be done through the insurer. The abrupt phone call on Thursday April 13th in the afternoon about the immediate need to return the car was highly inconvenient. When I called he 718 # back, full voicemail. Where was no explanation for this demand. If the car had a safety issue, why did Advantage rent it to me? if the temp plates were due on 19 April, why the return on the 13th? if there is a reason for this demand, why not explain? The car had a "low tire" warning, left rear, but there tire appeared to be fully inflated.Reviewed 16 Apr. 2017

Money StolenPros:Nothing.Cons:I prepaid for this car rental, and when I went to pick it up, I was told that I was not able to take the car because I didn't have my own car insurance. I asked to buy insurance through Advantage, but they told me I could not. I was given the option of opting out of insurance when booking the car, which would lead one to believe that in fact, you can buy through Advantage. I asked as to why I wasn't warned about this during my booking, and the clerk said that she didn't know, and it didn't matter. After spending over an hour figuring out what to do, with no help from Kayak, Carrentals.com, or Advantage, I went and booked a reservation at another car rentals agency. This ended up costing me an additional $100 on top of the money that I have prepaid, and still have not been refunded. This is theft. I have used Kayak before, and want to continue to use the website; however, this experience alone has made me decide to never book through the site again.Reviewed 10 Aug. 2016

Terrible experienceCons:This rental company has a counter-intuitive policy - unless you live 65 or 75 miles outside of the rental office, you will need to give them your own car insurance. Since I don't have a car, of course I do not have my own car insurance. But why would I want to rent a car if I already have a car? The point of renting a car is because I don't have a car!! It is clear that Advantage is targeting travelers who fly to another state and would need a car to drive around, but this is not always the case. They could have spelled this policy out more clearly during the reservation process. Nowhere during the reservation was this policy stated. I was not informed of such policy until the time I arrived at the rental office, Advantage refused to rent me a car of course and I had to cancel my reservation. I found myself standing with other customers who were as confused and frustrated as I was. I would be extra cautious if you decide to make a reservation with Advantage.Reviewed 14 Sep. 2016

Stay Away!Cons:Horrible customer service and experience. I prepaid for this rental and showed up and they said they couldn't rent to me unless I already had car insurance. On top of that they couldn't give me a refund. I had to email someone else and call and fight to get my money back. Absolutely horrible experience overall. Extremely DisappointedPros:The van shuttle service and drivers were very nice and helpful.Cons:Most of our experience with this car rental. When we arrived they were dealing with intermittent internet service but never informed any of us waiting why there was a delay. At one point, one of the clerks just left and didn’t tell her supervisor. In the meantime more people kept arriving to rent cars and again no reason was given for the delay. At the same time they were tearing up the concrete in front of the office. It was very loud. Also the condition of the car was poor. The change oil light was on, it hadn’t been cleaned and there were three large sticker marks on three windows of the car. Will never rent from this company again.Reviewed 2 Jul. 2018

Pros:The price was very affordable. Both drivers that picked me up or dropped me in lga were very nice and friendly.Cons:The ladies at the desk were disasters. They were busy playing with each other instead of assisting customers. I had to reminder them many time that I had to go. The lady that help helped to me said I had to upgrade because my car size was not available even though reserved ahead of time. Which I declined but she charged me aways for the upgrade.
