Pros:Picking up the car was easy the staff at Payless was very nice the car was super clean ran very smooth I didn’t even want to give up the car that’s how nice it was. The drop off was easy. Definitely recommend Payless to anyone thinking of using them I know this will not be my last time using there services.Cons:There could have been more staff working at the front desk when I went it was a long line outside with two people working the front desk there should be a line for people that is renting a car and for those that already rented and paid online instead of having to wait even though I paid online already other then that everything went smoothReviewed 19 Aug. 2020

Cons:Line was down at the time. Waited for more than an hour for pick up and still has to line up for drop off. Rest room not clean. More staff to assist widen line is down and more frequent checking of cleanliness of the restroom.Reviewed 14 Jul. 2020

AvoidPros:The entire experience was fairly badCons:The exterior of the car wasn’t washed well, more like it was just sprayed off - there were still big pieces of some red fruit attached to the outside. The interior of the car wasn’t cleaned at all - the previous drivers trash was all over the place - including a concert tickets, a cup with brown stained napkin in it (didn’t smell it, assuming what it was) Car smelled like weed, and dust, dirt everywhere. Tried to run the wipers to get rid of some of the exterior spots on the windshield, and wouldn’t you know it, no wiper fluid! So whatever was on the window just smeared across. Overall the car was in pretty bad shape - scratches all over and dents. Not sure what the situation was at this place but it seems like whoever is getting paid to be managing this place is clearly not.Reviewed 14 Aug. 2018

You get what you pay for....Pros:The cost of the car was affordable and in my allocated price range for a rental needed for less than 24 hours.Cons:The pick up location was difficult to find. When I arrived, the attendant was distracted and less knowledgeable about the rental contract features than I would have liked. The car smelled like stale smoke. That began to make me nauseous over time. Once I got on the highway I noticed the car did not drive as smoothly as I would like and the breaks were a little off. This was troubling due to the rain and misty weather. The drop off location was remote and the budget staff were a bit disorganized.Reviewed 2 Jun. 2018

Disorganized Rental Experience - most frustratingPros:Reasonable pricing. At least the car ran without issues.Cons:The rental experience was horrible. There were no clear sign on the Shuttle bus. Took more than an hour waiting curbside for the shuttle ride. BTW, LaGuardia airport has horrible traffic because of construction. At the Rental Counter, it was another horrible experience. With one attendee behind the counter, other customers had to return, with dead batteries, wrong keys, car not there, etc... The car that I got had no gas and flat tire. The windshield was not so dirty that it was hard to see out. Especially for night driving. 2.5 hour later, I decided to find the closest gas station to fill the tank, clean the windshield, and tire. 3.5 hour later from the curbside finally on my way. There were nobody to help you to check out the car. Wo scratches, flat tire, etc.. can only be noted if you returned back to the counter. Pros:There was a 2-hour line for the car pick-up (some people waited 3+) despite everyone in line having ordered online already. The line literally wrapped around the building. If you only have 2 people manning the counter, rent out fewer cars.Reviewed 6 Aug. 2020

Pros:Pick-up and drop-off was a fairly simple process.Cons:When we received our car, the tire pressure light was on. We connected with an employee who filled the tires with air. When finished, the light was still on, but the employee said that "it's because the tires need some time to warm up" (it had snowed two days in a row previously). We had a car for a total of three days and two nights. The tire pressure light never turned off. I wish the employee had taken more care to look into the issue and/or escalate the matter so that we could receive a new car.Reviewed 22 Feb. 2021

Someone was capable and nice.Pros:The young woman working at the counter -- (which is essentially a small room hidden behind the large Budget Car Rental return building at LGA, kind of like where you would expect to be directed if searching for a restroom at a trucker highway stop)-- was polite and accommodating as well as able to quickly and efficiently problem solve. She wasn't baffled by issues with search terms in finding the reservation, and actually acted like perhaps these were small things that were "par for the course"in the ol' Payless Rental world. I wish I could rate her higher, but that would unfortunately positively affect the overall ratings algorithm for her employer. If she sees this -- "Girl, you are clearly overqualified. Take those skills and get thee to a place that appreciates your common sense and customer service!"Reviewed 18 Jul. 2016
