Great Price Until the Hidden FeesPros:The price was too good to be true: $14.95/day rental. For the day and a half, it was originally rented out for a little over $21 plus taxes. They were out of the class of car we rented so they upgraded for free on the spot.Cons:The hidden fees. There were over $20 in extra fees and taxes which made the car cost over $42 upon checking out. We were running late for our flight, so there was not enough time to dispute it. I am not sure who is to blame for the literal doubling of our quoted price: Kayak for quoting an obviously misleading price; Dollar for having a ton of hidden fees, or; me, for actually believing that a rental car could actually be that cheap. I still think it was a great deal, but having the price double as we sprinted for a plane after a wedding left a sour taste in my mouth.Reviewed 11 Sep. 2016

Sales ruined expriencePros:overall - the car was exactly as expected.Cons:Completely turned off by our pick up experience. The guy questioned every little choice we made in order to up sell and when we rejected offers, the response was either "you're making a mistake" or a flat our lie. Examples were saying that our compact was smaller than a mini cooper, or that we can only get gas within a 10 mile radius of the drop off location and that we were required to show our receipt as proof when we returned it. by the end of the experience, i was ready to walk away and go next door. also, he made it a point to try and ask personal questions around me and my partners relationship. unnecessary, unprofessional and have no interest in returning to that company.Reviewed 22 May 2017

Pros:I liked that I was able to pick a car from the category that I was assigned. I ended up driving a car that I would consider buying for my teenage daughter that will be getting a car soon. I also liked the ease of returning the car, with just pulling up and being handed a receipt.Cons:I don't like agents (at the counter and at the gate to get out of the garage) trying to upsell me insurance. I have insurance of my own, that covers rental cars. When I denied it online, that should have been the end of it. Also, I wanted to add a driver after leaving the airport, and I was told on the phone that that wasn't possible unless I went in to a Dollar location...that shouldn't be the case...I can give the license number over the phone...what if it had been an emergency and I COULDN'T get into a location to add a driver. Pros:The car drove nicely. I liked being able to drop it off at a place other than where I picked it up.Cons:Customer service at SAN was bad. After waiting in a long line to complete the paperwork I had to wait in another to get out of the lot. The gentleman, read sarcastically, was very rude and didn't want to hear about the dents and scratched on the car rented to me. He wanted me to take it as is or wait at the back of the line. Only by refusing to move was I allowed to fill out the paperwork. Please hire more people for SAN office.Reviewed 23 Sep. 2020

Pros:The drop off was inefficient. Dollar returns were being ahndled by Hertz. I didn't have anybody come up to me and the car and try to help me check out upon my arrival. Onstead, 25 minutes after my return, they checked out the car while there were very few cars in the return lot. This resulted in assessment of an unfair extra hour of rental to me, which they asessed to me and was entirely THEIR fault.Cons:Check out up9n return is inefficient with nobody to really work on my return immediately. Delays in return process are not acceptable and result in deceptive charges to customers.Reviewed 23 Oct. 2020
