Consider the premium or luxury cars when you have company to impress. Compact cars are a perfect choice if you wish to drive in the city or for long distances since the cars are easy to drive and small in size; hence easy to control in narrow and congested motorways. There are several people carrier models you can consider if travelling as a group of more than five and the SUVs if travelling as a group of up to five individuals.
  • Once you book Los Angeles Airport Budget car hire, you will have several insurance covers to consider, including Personal Accident and Effect (PAE), Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) and Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI). The PAE covers the vehicle occupant against injury, loss of property and accident, while the LDW reduces your financial liability in the event of an accident or damage to the car. Consider the SLI if you wish for protection against any third-party damage claims or injury during your vacation.

Note that the cost of Budget car hire at Los Angeles Airport may vary depending on the car type, and there is an additional charge for younger drivers. During pick-up, you will have to present a driver's licence valid for at least one year, a credit card with your name, and an amount enough to cover the security deposit. One of the worst rental car experiences I’ve ever had. I reserved a Tesla and completed check-in in advance, expecting a smooth pickup. However, when I arrived, the Tesla was not available. I ended up waiting for about 1 hours and still did not receive the vehicle I reserved. During the process, I was first offered random replacement options that were not comparable to what I booked, including a hybrid Dodge and a Hyundai IONIQ, even though I clearly explained that I was not comfortable driving an unfamiliar EV. I asked for a regular gas or hybrid SUV such as a RAV4 instead. After all the waiting and back-and-forth, I was finally given a very poor-condition Chevrolet SUV, which felt like a major downgrade from my original reservation. On top of that, the rental agreement initially showed an optional Loss Damage Waiver added as “accepted,” even though I did not want it and already had rental car coverage through my credit card. I had to specifically go back and ask them to remove it. The staff also told me the final receipt could only be provided after the rental ended, which made the whole process feel even more confusing and unreliable. The vehicle I finally received was disappointing, and I even had to buy a charging cable myself because the replacement car did not have what I needed for navigation/phone charging. Overall, this was an extremely frustrating experience: the reserved car was unavailable, the pickup was delayed by 1 hours despite advance check-in, the replacement vehicle was poor, and the billing/optional coverage process was unclear. I would not rent from budget againReviewed 30 May 2026

The reservation people were not helpful at all. First Lady told me there was only one car available and it was electric. I told her I was not comfortable with that bc I am lot familiar with electric cars. She found another car that was a way too big for me to feel safe driving. Strange, because in a parking lot with hundreds of cars, she initially said there was only one car available. The. She told me that budget doesn’t work with Allstate and that I needed the insurance. Then she told me I had to get the tolls coverage bc we were driving from LA to San Diego. We did not use any toll roads. When I went to the garage and saw the giant car she gave me, I went back inside and spoke with another person. He said he had no idea why she would say there was only one car available, there were plenty. The second person gave me a Dodge Hornet but failed to tell me it was a plug in hybrid. I did not realize it was plug-in until we got to our hotel an hour away. I spent too much time online trying to learn how the plug-in works, where I could charge it and how long it would take to charge. We took it to a charging station, only to find out that the Dodge uses a different type of plug. I called Budget several times asking for help and no one seemed to be able to give me helpful information. I finally found a charging station that would work in the garage of a public library. Then I had to download an app and set up an account to use it. And pay for four hours of parking ant the library. After 3 hours and 45 minutes to charge fully, we drove to San Diego. Battery all used up in one hour and ten minutes. Budget representatives were the worst! They did not seem to want to help me or rectify the situation. Renting a car is supposed to make your vacation less stressful so you can go where you want to when you want to, not have to rely on the schedules of public transportation or Uber/Lyft. This car rental crests hassle after hassle and wasted a lot of our time on vacation. I will lot use Budget again.Reviewed 19 Apr 2026

First of all, my dates were changed. When I went to the Kayak website to rent a car, the dates were different and I didn’t notice. When my husband picked up the car, he didn’t receive the one he reserved and ended up paying $300 more due to the date error. I will never use Kayak again. It was my first time using it, but having the dates changed, paying significantly more, and receiving a different car was not the experience we expected.Reviewed 2 Apr 2026

They hatched me twice for the rental. Once through Kayak- QEEB then overcharged me for the vehicle at pickup since they couldn’t see that I had already paid for the rental.Reviewed 19 Mar 2026

At the desk, the attendant did not ask if we wanted to purchase the gas option, he just put it on the bill and told us to sign. It was not clear. He also did not tell us how much it would cost, and did not tell us how much the toll additional fee would cost. I said no to the protection but did not understand when he said the others. As far as the car, he did give us a Jeep which I was very excited about.Reviewed 18 Feb 2026
