Pros: Superior staff, friendly, helpful, accommodating. Metro buses 10 and 207 bus stops were located a half block away. Both buses eventually pass by a Metro rail station. Inside the first floor eating and lounge areas were places you wouldn’t mind eating or leisurely watching television or playing pool in. Reasonably clean areas. The hosts serve a continental breakfast which included fresh bananas, apples, mixed fruits (grapes, blueberries, etc.) melons (watermelon, honey dew), orange juice, milk, coffee, Fruit Loops, Frosted Flakes (name brand), assorted dried fruits, and nuts, miniature muffins and donuts, assorted breads, bagels, and croissants. And good WIFI. Second floor is where the bedrooms and bathrooms are. Bathrooms: I WAS IMPRESSED. The owners thought about this. There is one full bathroom (bathtub).Two bathrooms with a sink and commode, and two bathrooms with just a commode—sink to wash hands was located on the outside of these two commodes. There were also four private showers (only). It creates a nice flow when no one has to wait for long to use a commode or shower. They also provide toilet covers. While the cleanliness of the bathrooms was sufficient, someone needs to get on some knees and scrub. But it really wasn’t bad. The. actual rooms were clean and airy. Modern. The beds comfortable. Nice sheets and spread. I was in a room with 13 other women. I have been in hostels where they pack you in like cattle. One hostel had 40 person capacity, but only three bathrooms available to 36 guests. Horrible. That wasn’t the case at Melrose Hostel. Plenty of bathrooms, and a well thought out design. They do have a policy of visitors providing proof of travel. That makes sense, otherwise the place would be overrun with street people. If I had to stay in a hostel in the future, I would have no problem staying at Melrose Hostel again. But I prefer the Hilton. Smiling

Cons: I couldn't even sleep with all those squeaking noises from the bedroom next to us! Stop place heavy weight wrestlers in sexual orgies! It sounded horrible, I've had a couple of nightmares since then!

Pros: The included breakfast was delicious. At times, it was a bit crowded and there was usually a wait for some food items. Seating was a bit limited for a group of 4. The pool area was very nice and a good way to enjoy the evening. The central courtyard was fantastic. Nice to sit and relax. The climate control in the room was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and eager to help. We felt very safe with the security measures in place (parking, cameras, etc...)

Cons: We had an exterior room and there was plenty of road noise. There was a fair amount of hallway noise related to doors slamming and door knockers. The lack of towel holders in the bathroom. No place to hang towels after use.

Cons: The upkeep in the hotel room, could have been a little better. In the room there was rust on the towel rack and the bathroom mirror was peeling, However, in all fairness we did see that there was renovations being done to nearby rooms and corridor.

Cons: This hotel is NOT located in East Hollywood, it is located in Little Armenia. It is definitely not in a safe neighborhood, and make sure you can park your car in the lot, because otherwise I'm pretty sure it would get broken into. Lighting in the rooms was bad.

Cons: The cleaning products used to clean the rooms left if smelling like my grandparent's place, it had this signature old people smell. I didn't mind it, but my friends would point it out every time we returned to the room. Maybe try spraying something else to help lower the scent? Not sure. Breakfast was a bit bland, cereal and milk, danishes, and fruit were the only options. I mean yes, I liked those options, but I would've liked something a bit more filling like pancakes/waffles. I'm paying about 45 per night, so I can't expect much for the price, so not a complaint, just an observation. It was an overall positive experience,, keep up the good work. This is the second year I choose a travel lodge location for the Anime expo we attended for 4 days, hopefully it'll be three years next year.

They were not able to provide any guidance on how to get to popular areas of LA. Infact, one time the staff member told me that in LA you need a car to get around and it’s not possible to get to a place without a car. I managed to get there by bus ! * breakfast was poor. It was basically cereal and bread (with toasters and jam/butter given). * location was too far from most popular locations of wall of fame etc. you have to catch 2 metro stops to get there. * overpriced for location and facilities. Stay elsewhere if you can.

Cons: The Inn is run without any staff present and often not even available by phone. I arrived at 5pm and no one answered the door. There was a message that at 3pm a code was sent out that could be used to open the locked doors of a front and another code for the assigned room. I advertising this miserable place, there is NO indication of this unusual arrangement for Check-in time. Could it be that I was the first customer who had no connection to a Los Angeles wifi?
as it turned out, my cell phone was not picking up anything cellular. At one point, someone came out who did not identify himself but he said that he could give me the passes if I gave him the codes. IHe literally pushed me out of the door when I could not get my computer going. SOne arriving guest lent me a cell phone but there was no more answer from an outside phone that there was from the phone on the wall. I am 72 years old and disabled. It was an unseasonably cold night. I was shivering wait outside. Finally, I borrowed an entering client's phone and called the police. this place must be closed down I am considering taking legal measures against the travel services that presented this property to me and will be writing blogs describing this brutal treatment of a property that had no one available in person or by phone to process customers. The police promised to make its own investigation. hl
