The rental location was closed during the rental time and directed customers to go to another location where they had no cars. I waited for 2 hours then went to another rental place and got a different reservation for twice the cost.

Terrible. The kayak automated reply sent me to a different pick up point. The service at the original pick up point was terrible. We had to transfer to another site to get a car. Both sites did not have the car needed and we ended up having to rent a smaller car that couldn’t fit everyone.

Great location, quick service at pickup and drop off. BEWARE when picking up your car @ Avis - my car, though new, had a lot of scratches- upon dropping off the Stuart tried to charge me for one which was not ticked off (and was disappointed when he learned I had the full insurance and videotaped the car when picked up)

Cons:

More openness as to fuel charges. When I asked if I needed to bring the car back with a full tank I was told if I drive more than 75 miles I would be charged $19.95. I used 1/4 tank and was charged over $40.00. NO BARGAIN THIS RENTAL.

They tried to charge me for hair in the car that was there when I picked it up, and charged me a fuel fee (since I didn’t provide a receipt for the gas I bought) despite returning the car with more gas in it than when I picked it up and the only thing telling me I might need to do this being very small, vague print on the form I signed at pickup.

Hertz is THE WORST! They didn’t help at all and especially the lady at the NYC register… she was the WORST.. no help at alla and she never mentioned that the plan to leave my car at 11pm at my destination in orser to pay with a debit and not my credit card couldn’t work.. in any question I had, she djdn’t knkw the answer… disaster

Pros:

The pickup process was quick and easy and I was glad I was not pushed to purchase additional coverage and all fees were explained to me clearly. I also appreciated the prompt receipt sent to me the day after I returned the vehicle

Cons:

The address provided for returning the rental car was at least several blocks away from the actual location, which led me to circle around looking for where the actual Hertz location was. I also was not aware that the location was closed over the weekend, hence I didn't know how or where to return the car keys.

Cons:

At pickup, your staff makes a $200 deposit charge against my credit card without letting me know. This was caught as fraud for some reason by my bank, and so the card was 'declined' - even though I PRE-PAID for the car. I immediately marked the charge as 'acceptable' in my banking app, so that it could go through. Your staff re-ran the entire process and the card was declined again - even though I had marked the second charge as acceptable in my banking app AGAIN. I had to call someone else to use their credit card, which meant we had to call to get a refund for MY booking and re-book under a new credit card. This process had to be done on the phone, after a 30min wait time, even though we were sitting directly in the Hertz office. We were extremely late when we finally got a car and the staff was not helpful. I still have to confirm that (1) I was correctly refunded my money, and (2) the two $200 'deposits' were not actually charged to my card. This was a really terrible experience and I won't be booking through Hertz again.

Cons:

Once I arrived at the Enterprise location, I was informed by the parking garage attendant that this location had been closed down for 2 weeks. I received no communication prior to arriving there, and was then unable to rent a car with Enterprise, as they had no cars available in the entire NYC area.
