Pros:I rented a VW Jetta and the car was in perfect conditions and sanitized for the Covid 19.Cons:I don´t appreciate being pushed for insurance. When booking in Kayak, every time I would like information about insurance options. I don´t like going to the car rental counter and having to argue under pressure with the rental company representative.Reviewed 19 Nov. 2020

Terrible experiencePros:Checkout process was smoothCons:The car we rented was not available when we arrived, they sent us to the Tulum location (in a tiny SUV where the family hardly fit) and said a mini van would be waiting. We arrived in Tulum and noone there knew anything about our rental and no mini-van was available. Later the same evening a van showed up with 60k kilometers on it, beat up and sounded like the axle was about to fall off. When i returned the car i asked for a discount and they would only take off the price of the 3rd party insurance. Would never rent from them again.Reviewed 23 Feb. 2017

Pros:The car itself was fine.Cons:Totally ripped me off. The Kayak shown price was $21 for the weekend, INCLUDING taxes. That’s why I chose this reservation—even though it was a dinky little car, that was a fantastic sale price. When I arrived, there was mandatory insurance, a different rate, new taxes, and mandatory prepaid tank of gas, all resulting in a price of $175 for the weekend—almost 9 times more than I had planned to pay. By the time I was there it was too late to change to another company... no need to spend more hours of an already short weekend getaway shopping for rental cars. But this was totally deceptive and I’m very unhappy. Kayak should not be listing Alamo’s deceptive prices in the future.Reviewed 17 Dec. 2019

Pros:Good: the staff was very helpful. The vehicle ran well. Drop off process was easy & quick. The shuttle drivers were helpful and courteous. The lady at the airport when we first arrived was very nice and very helpfulCons:NOT GOOD: They had the wrong vehicle for us. We specifically asked for a Jeep during the initial phone call rental arrangements, and were told that they would have one of three models available with no problem. The initial vehicle had obviously low air pressure in the front tires, and they have no ability to add air, or even check the air pressure, at the facility. The worst was the unexpected pricing. I will be filing a dispute claim with Alamo today because of the excessive charges that built up throughout the rental process, resulting in over $525.00 for a 4 day rental of a small Jeep. Unacceptable.Reviewed 2 Sep. 2017

Not clear expectationsPros:Car didn't break down. Shuttle was convenient.Cons:Alamo and probably other rental companies in Cancun are not upfront about rental costs. The quoted costs don't include insurance which is REQUIRED. If it is required, then it should be in the quote. Moreover, it is more expensive than all other components of the rental. The car was not in great shape which I guess is fine as long as they don't try and charge you for those damages when you return (scratches, missing hubcaps, etc.). Kind of made you wonder if they would though. The remote clicker did not function great either. I had an instance where the horn wouldn't work until the car was parked and restarted. Any guess how I found out it didn't work -- when I almost got hit by a van cutting across a roundabout and needed to use it. Not fun. Also annoying is that the Alamo location in Cancun partners with a timeshare company so they have their representative in the office pushing you to go to a timeshare when you just want your car after a tiring day of travel to get there. At first, you think they are providing nice information and directions until they try to get you into a timeshare appointment. I don't think this is good practice for Alamo to put these people in their car rental offices.Reviewed 27 Feb. 2017

Rip off!!!Pros:Nothing.Cons:1. Small print is not sufficient to warn customers of the required 3rd party insurance requirement. YOU SHOULD MAKE IT MORE CLEAR THAT THE CUSTOMER WILL BE CHARGED AN EXTRA $200.00 or so for a weeks Rental. 2. Any moron can see through the “retun on empty” policy. 100% of the time you pay for unused gas. THis the THEFT! you should require companies you promote to be fair with their customers. There is nothing you can do about it as a customer, your trapped! It’s literally impossible to return a car on empty. TOTALLY UNETHICAL! shame.Reviewed 12 Jan. 2019

Poor serviceCons:When I rented the car in the app it was supposed to be 60 some dollars which I thought it was a good deal. When I got to the Alamo car rental they bump the price to 600 plus dollars. They couldn't say why it was so much so I ended up cancelling the rental.Reviewed 28 May 2017

Pros:Nothing, worst experience i ever had with a car rental agency. The car was dirty and not even maintained.Cons:Everything!! Broken and dirty car MXN liability insurance of $750,000 pesos that was "included" in my booking was, according to the representative, under the minimum required by law (minimum was 3 millions pesos) so he only gave me the option to buy the full coverage which cost me over USD 800.00!!Reviewed 29 Jul. 2019

Awesome upgradePros:We really needed a minivan but they seemed to be expensive when I checked online. Once we got to the counter, though, they were able to upgrade us to a minivan for a very reasonable cost. The car was fairly new and very clean, with a back-up camera. The staff at the counter and those that unloaded bags and checked over the car were all very courteous and helpful. Both getting the car and returning it were quick and easy. I've rented from a couple of other places in Cancun and service was slow and the cars weren't clean. I travel to Cancun at least once every year and decided on this trip that I will never use another rental place.Reviewed 18 Jan. 2017

Cancun alamo made everything VERY easyPros:The Cancun terminal is very frenetic, but the representative walked us thru the chaos calmly, over to the outdoor desk to pick up our car. The walk was about 1,000 feet total. The car we reserved was indeed the car we got, no waiting, no negotiating. Each person there was efficient, detailed and exceedingly friendly!Reviewed 2 Apr. 2017

Pros:The staff was super friendly and the chauffeur were on timeCons:Didn’t have inventory for the specific car I selected and was forced to take a full coverage insurance. They didn’t give me any other option.Reviewed 31 Jul. 2019
