Pros:Literally nothingCons:They simply did not have a car. It is a car rental without cars available. Dozens of passengers like us where trapped there doing paperwork but not getting the car they booked at the end. Never seen a business so disorganized in my life. DO NOT PLACE A RESERVATION WITH THEM, YOU WILL ONLY LOSE YOUR TIME!!Reviewed 16 Feb. 2021

Pros:Poor experience enough that I will never consider using Europcar again and reconsider Kayak as well.Cons:The staff lied to me immediately upon entering-which took a half hour. They told me that they had no contract with our insurance companies, American Express and State Farm , and as I result the company policy was that I had to buy full insurance. They also stated that the price quoted on the internet did not bind them as Kayak was only an agent. I have lived in Mexico for years and know that he was in fact lying to me. Ultimately we 'negotiated' a price that was twice what we were promised. I ended up with 3 insurances covering the vehicle and almost wished something happened to it. The gas tank was only a quarter full- I've never seen that.Reviewed 22 Feb. 2021

Cons:When presented my credit card with collision coverage, Europcar staff told me that to make it valid I needed to have a letter of proof of insurance signed/stamped by some kind of Mexican authority.... really?? How they expect foreigners to get that?? At the end I payed double of my quote for all this tricks and hidden feesReviewed 11 Jul. 2018

All sorts of hidden costsPros:Very little.Cons:The first really bad part of my experience was the fact that I was forced to pay an extra 100$ for insurance even though my credit card (Visa) covers it. In order to get out of paying collision insurance I would have had to get a letter from Visa and the Mexican government stating that my credit card insurance coverage was OK. Then I would have to leave a 7000 $ deposit. This I obviously had no way of doing THAT DAY.Reviewed 11 Jan. 2017

Did not have vehicle type I reserved but wanted to charge me for it!Pros:Everything in the vehicle worked and it operated fine.Cons:I reserved a passenger van (12 seats) four and a half months prior to my trip. When I arrived at Europcar they tried to give me a minivan. I showed them my reservation for the passenger van, and after checking with the manager, the agent told me they did not have one. In addition, Europcar wanted to charge me the passenger van price ($375) for the minivan. Having done a considerable amount of online price comparisons (including up to 4 days before our trip), I knew the best price for a minivan ranged from approximately $150 to $225 (w/o insurance) at several of the car rental companies at the Cancun Airport. When, I showed these online quotes to Europcar, the agent said I could walk to another rental agency. This was not an option with multiple large bags, a young child, and the need to meet the rest of our group in downtown Cancun. With no other option, I had to settle for the minivan. Ultimately another member of our group was forced to rent a passenger van (at full price) from another agency. Although I was able to negotiate a moderate discount for the minivan (after approximately 45 minutes with the agent), Europcar's failure to provide the vehicle I reserved ended up costing me several hundred more dollars for the vehicles I needed. When I got in the minivan I discovered it had 1/8 tank of gas. I did not appreciate worrying about running out of gas on the way to the hotel, at night, and after a long day of travel. The cup holders throughout the van were disgusting, and there was some strange brown substances smeared around a few of the air vents.Reviewed 4 Dec. 2018

Cons:It is bogus that you say the rental car is one price and then you get there it is another. It is completely meaningless to say that I’m getting a rental for $3/day and then when you get there be told there is a mandatory insurance of $55/day. Do what you think is going to be $20-50 rental is suddenlReviewed 8 Mar. 2019

Pros:Literally nothing. Worst rental experience of my life. I travel a lot and have never encountered such blatant disregard for peoples time and money. It was the most unprofessional business I have ever encountered.Cons:Everything. It took many hours out of my vacation. To start, the car pickup was supposed to be at the airport but they shuttled us to a location 10 minutes away. Showed up to the pickup spot and it looked like a scene from a war movie, like people(half dead bodies) lying(in rubble) on benches(in Fallujah), groggy(wounded) people just swaying back and forth because they are(stunned from the devastation) so bored from waiting. There was no direction, no one greeted me, and no one let me know what the hell was going on. There were a bunch of unmanned kiosks with broken iPads and all the employees were busy arguing with customers. Finally got someone to help me, by help I mean he placed me on the waiting list to be helped. Once I was finally helped it was clearly a game of “how much money can I scam out of this customer”. Nothing beyond this point got better, it got worse , but I’m tired of pointing out what is obviously an open scam.Reviewed 31 Dec. 2020
