Not much, the manager in San Marcos, CA Las Posas branch is a disgrace. She has the customer service skills of a Bad Lawyer. After spending vlose to $1,000 in last 30 days she decided she didn’t like me because I reminded her of her ex husband who left her for another man.Cons:

Having my rental car ready and not over booking. I had a reservation for my rental and we had to wait over an hour along with 15 people ahead of me for them to bring other rentals from another location. Delayed my trip and I had a sick child with me. Horrible experience. I will never rent from that location again. Didn’t even try to compensate for the inconvenience they caused all the customers!!Budget

Cons:
Upon completion of my reservation with kayak, it gave me a complete price w/ taxes and fees included. Upon arrival to puck up rental they charged me an additional $7 sighting only the base price is guaranteed and that additional fees could be charged that kayak was unaware of and i would need to take it up with kayak.com. If this is true, i could not find any disclaimer on kayak website to the fact. If its says s total with taxes and fees then that should be the price with no suprise charges upon arrival.8.4 Very Good

Was 5 min late for the drop off and the location closed I had to drive 15 miles out of my way to drop off at the airport and was charged for another day, I was never told that the location closed at 1:00 or that if I was late I had the option of dropping off at another location. I understand I was late and paying the fee was not what upsets me when I call about where to drop off the car (twice) the operators could not have cared less, rude and unhelpful. I will take my business elsewhere even if that means paying a little extra.5.2 Fair

Not a thing. This was literally the worst car rental experience I've ever hadCons:
Here's the story - I booked ahead of time, pre paid to ensure we had a car. Decided to treat the family and surprise the kids with a convertible (they've never ridden in one, and hey why not? it's sunny southern California!). Got all confirmations aligned, had a pick up time and car agreed upon, was charged my full rate, figured I was good to go. WRONG! Because of the awful customer service from Kayak and this absolutely Terrible company Hertz I was stranded without a car and grossly overspent on Ubers to get me around for the week. Will NEVER use either Kayak or Hertz again... Two hours before the defined time (4pm) I get a call from the rental place. "Please call us back when you can" ... oh boy... I called was greeted by a VERY rude agent who was completely unapologetic - "we don't have a car for you." I got some lame excuse about other people not returning their cars, even though they had set up a rental with me. So, I waited while she ran through why I should care about what the company is going through. Finally had a chance to speak, "okay so where does that leave me?" - answered with the same "We don't have a car for you"... frustrating to say the least. So here I am, on vacation with my children, the excitement I wanted to see in their eyes fading. "Okay, so what other options are out there," I asked, knowing I had already paid for one of the most expensive cars they had, I figured they'd offer a discounted rate for an alternative car. Apparently htis company has never heard of customer service, instead they said the have no cars at all and offered me a cargo van...for me and my children. Not exactly a convertable...nor acceptable. In sort it ended with me not having a car, them saying that it's not their fault / problem and that I should not have booked through Kayak, because there is a technical gap that allows us to book cars that are actually not available. Because of Kayak and this absolutely Terrible company Hertz I was stranded without a car and grossly overspent on Ubers to get me around for the week. The reservation process was easily and I thought the price was reasonable. I cancelled the reservation 20 hours prior to my pick-up time because a friend offered me the use of a vehicle for free while my car was at the mechanic's. HERTZ charged me a $83.00 dollar cancellation fee for my $105.00 rental. Will not use or recommend HERTZ to anyone and will warn of the steep cancellation fee.Cons:
Do not rent from them, if you have to cancel you will pay big time!!!!Avis

I was upsold on primary insurance that was offered at the counter. I initially declined, citing that my Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card covers it. Then the rep very assertively said credit cards do not cover primary, they only cover secondary. So I went with his claim, assuming he's more knowledgeable. Turns out my Chase card does include *primary* insurance so I regret getting redundant insurance. I'm not happy about that.6.8 Okay

We assumed Avis rental car was at San Diego airport. We arrived at 2pm. We were informed at the Avis airport location that we rented from another location Balboa which was 30 minutes away and closed at 3pm. Avis personnel would not wait for us at Balboa. We rented from airport location at an additional cost ($60) that we did not expect. We felt Avis should mAke it clearer at booking that it is not at airport.8.4 Very Good
