Pros: "They charged me so much for extra luggage even I prepaid online for extra luggage prior to getting to airport. Yet the ticket counter lady made me pay an additional fee and all together I ended paying more for extra bags fee than the ticket itself! both Virgin and JetStar are VERY stingy on extra luggage fees. I came from the US to Australia and traveled domestically while there with all the luggage that I brought from the US. So I had to pay so much in fees when my trip was already so expensive! It makes me reconsider wanting to travel again anywhere anytime soon, so discouraging! Also they make me take stuff out of my big suitcase and transfer to my carry on, in front of everyone at the ticket counter I had to open my suitcase and transfer some stuff so the weight is under a certain weight. We had problems with my seating, but the crew did everything they could to amend the issues. The crew was wonderful and really took great care of us."
Cons: "Right away we found out my chair was broken, and couldn't recline. Also, we had been placed in the first row of Premium and there are no automatic footrests. The crew has to bring those out. But there weren't any on board the plane at all. And since I'm only 5'2" tall, my feet don't reach the floor, causing blood circulation to be cut off in my legs from the pressure of hanging on the seat. No recline for 12+ hours, and no foot rest = a lot of pain and discomfort. I've been to the doctor twice since arriving home and am still in pain."

It just made for an annoying experience feeling like because we were at the back, we had to just take what we were given. They could make more of an effort to make sure ALL passengers are treated well."

Cons: "My flight was delayed and upon landing I was told by 2 virgin staff that I was booked on the 2:10pm flight to MIA. When checking in a Delta they advised I wasn't booked on the flight and that I had to head to the VA terminal to get my flight reissued. I walked 10 minutes with a lot of luggage to the VA terminal only to find it not staffed. I then had to walk back to the DL counter and due to the issues wasn't able to be put on a flight with a connection at 10:30pm."

There was an absurd amount of families on this flight with really young screaming, ill-behaved children and their indifferent parents. The flight attendants were equally indifferent and unhelpful. You get absolutely nothing for free - everything cost - food, blankets, pillows, etc. on this 10 hour flight. AND when water was requested, it was a small, mouthwash size cup with a note, that "we charge for water." $4. Wow. Probably one of the worst experiences in the air ever. I won't be back. The price was stellar, but after paying for seats, luggage and enduring the people on the flight, I'd prefer to pay more and get A LOT MORE from an airline like Virgin Australia. If you're cutting corners and trying to save money, save yourself and your sanity and spend a little more on quality airline."

This is 4 times the price on their website; that price is no longer available once you're at check-in. The service was slow and inefficient. Even after checking in online we still had to wait in line to check in at the counter. This took ages since at least 5 or 6 other people were having issues with Jetstar, like us. The flight itself was cramped (I'm a shorter woman and had almost no leg room) and there were no complimentary drinks or snacks for our 4 hour flight. We opted for Jetstar because it's the cheapest option, but ended up having to pay more than we would have for a much nicer flight with another airline."

We discovered that Jet Star charges for every kilo of checked luggage unlike any other time I have made this flight with different airlines. I would advise anyone to think twice about using this airlines for any flights longer than 4 hours because your going to be pretty hungry and thirsty unless you want to pay $4 for 6 ounces of water. Make sure you have all the baggage costs figured into your ticket charge when you purchase a ticket from these cheapskates and make sure you carry on what you need to drink and eat. The food looked terrible."

I was advised they could, and because I was concerned I asked this be noted on our booking so we wouldn't have any issues at the gate. I was reassured the children could travel and they made a note as requested. Turn up for our flight today and at the gate after saying goodbye to my children, they're stopped from entering the plane and I'm told they can't travel, despite the advice I received from the call centre and the note on our booking showing we were given this advice. We did everything right to make sure we could travel, just to be refused at the gate. Disgusting."

Cons: "Long line to check in, old dirty plane. Charge for everything. Cheap fares not worth service. They overcharged $125 AUD baggage fee for a 20kg bag which is within limits. Since I booked the flight with Kayak, I had trouble paying in advance for bags online and selecting seats via kayak and on Jetstar website after booking in USA. It is not clear on any site that there is a 15kg bag limit and and excess charge beyond that. I even tried adding a bag and seats 24kg prior while in Australia but it wouldn't let me or give me that option. I was told at the Jetstar service desk that I need to contact Kayak/ Jetstar directly via email to file a complaint for this ridiculous bag charge. Its unfortunate that as USA person we are not aware of this poor service airline. My bag was not over limit and there is no justification for this high bag charge. USA airlines only charge high if you are overlimit but Jetstar is ripping people off. if there is anything you can do for me, its greatly appreciated."

Then, when boarding I was mugged for my back pack. 50$ because it was over their utterly disingenuous 7kg "safety limit". It's not a safety rule - the CAA sets that. It's a revenue rule."
