Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Love qantas airways! Such a great and safe airline."
Pros: "Short flight, but they fed us great food, great service, even good wine."
Pros: "The crew and the flight was good. The comfort of the seats were not, especially for a 14.5 hr flight"
Cons: "Just a little more space between the seats! You have to lean to the side, on the passenger seating next to you to try to pick something up or gather your belongings."
Pros: "Very friendly crew."
Pros: "The seats were smaller which is fine for a 1.5 hr flight but if I had to compare it to the first leg of the trip, these things stick out."
Cons: "The flight time seemed late. The plane was already there, the airport was empty and the gate was full. It would’ve been nicer if it was a little earlier, although getting through customs again might not be as easy for some people on a 3 hour layover?"
Cons: "Having back up/extra meals for people with dietary requirements as they may not have been able to request them."
Pros: "Easy great flight. Good entertainment comfortable seats."
Pros: "It got me from b to c"
Cons: "Significantly delayed hoarding for non technical reasons. Food was decidedly average. Seat pitch is just tolerable."
Pros: "Great crew, nice clean aircraft with lots to watch via their streaming service Flight left ontime and arrived early"
Cons: "Food was good but not great"
Pros: "Rob Cumming was the supervisor crew for our section. He was very good at trying to compensate for the big problems that Qantas had created for us."
Cons: "ruin my seat arrangement for no reason! We were traveling as a family of 7 (2 grandparents from each side, my husband, my 4 year son and myself). We paid $30 per person per seat so that we could sit together and watch out for each other because some of the grandparents are in their 80's. However, when we checked in, we found out all our seats were re-arranged and in the worst possible way! Our 4 year old child was assigned in middle seat no where near my husband or myself. In addition, the family was divided in half, separated by the service station. I had switched seat so I can sit with my son but my husband had to sit at the other side of the service station to take care of the other half of the family because they do not speak English. I was left to attend to my 4 year old son by myself, which was hard to do. what bothers me the most is that there seem to be no obvious reason for them to re-arranged seats in such a devastating manner - it was not a full flight at all. I saw quite a few empty seats in the back. We spoke to the woman who was the head of the stewardess about the problem upon boarding, she said she would try to see what she could do, but she never got back to us at all. The seats were horrible seats for a few reason. First, there were a lot of traffic and noise from crew and other passengers because they were next to the Service station. Second, we were always the last one to receive food service because of the location. This is a problem when you have 4 year old and 80 years old who were diabetics."
Cons: "Travelling with baby/kids/family....not good with this plane, And when asking APPLE JUICE for my baby, they so really PELIT ,only give one glass, i cannot asking 2 glass , im thristyyy n need sweet , coz we cannot bring our any kind of WATER to plane.... I will not fly with qantas anymore...."
Pros: "Everything! As a first timer in Australia the flight experience was great."
Cons: "Qantas is the source of unlimited frustration for us. We could not check in online, and it wasn't even possible to choose a seat before you got to the airport unless you wanted to pay a premium for it. To make matters worse, there is no transparency in the process; we had no idea what seats they were assigning us, or even whether the three of us would be able to sit together. And when we showed up at the airport, the last leg of my flight had been deleted from my itinerary (but not that of my family members). And guess what? They couldn't do anything about it until I was ready to get on that last flight! The crew were great, but all the behind-the-scenes aspects of Qantas were absolutely horrible. Two days later I'm still reeling from the experience. What a terrible way to treat customers."
Pros: "Qantas is always a great choice. Good food and service."
Cons: "Plane was approx 1 hour late"
Pros: "Everything was great - arrived early. Excellent service."
Pros: "I like the A380 plane, the respect that the crew provide, the quality of the food, and the variety of entertainment"
Cons: "I would loike more music concerts on the entertainment system"
Pros: "The long trip !"
Pros: "Ahh Qantas. What a relief after an internal US flight on a US carrier. Spacious, comfortable, on time, good food. They even comped us for luggage delayed that was not their fault."
Cons: "Nothing - all good. Thanks Qantas for showing us how it can and should be done."
Pros: "There was an excellent selection of movies to choose from. Breakfast was actually pretty tasty, and snacks and water were offered quite frequently. The seat was reasonably comfortable, and reclines back a decent way. For how huge the plane was, the boarding process was super fast and efficient!"
Cons: "Seats were still rather cramped for my poor husband, who is 6'3. It is very hard to get out of your seat if you're in a window and all the seats on front are fully reclined, and I am relatively spry! Can't imagine an elderly or debilitated person trying to do so! The in flight movies were great, but you had to use the headphones they provide, and none of the 3 pairs I tried worked well. All had constant static. Although the seats recline far, they also do it abruptly and are hard to get to come back up. The dinner (we had the beef) was not very good. The quality of the ground beef was what you would expect from a fast food place. The worst part of the flight was that the sat ALL the infants in the same area on the plane, and all right around us. 5 of them, to be exact. 17 hours of on and off screaming babies! My husband had to move to a different seat to get some sleep! Thankfully, I can sleep through anything. Overall, less terrible than I expected a 17 hour flight to be, but could have been better. Some crew were very nice and helpful and others not so much. The first woman my husband asked told him (rather abruptly) that he wouldn't be able to use his CPAP machine. Then a really nice guy helped him get it set up. The turbulence was a bit scary for me, and the way the captain would announce it didn't help! He'd just say "all passengers and crew be seated and fasted your seat belts" in a rather grim tone as the plane shook violently."
Pros: "Friendly customer service crew, nice amenities kit, and quick boarding."
Cons: "Old aircraft (737) let’s down a good company and frequent flyers."
Pros: "Qantas provides a nice welcome when your board domestic flights in Australia like the one we took today between Brisbane and Sydney not just on their international flights. They greet you when you board, don't feel like a number like domestic flights in the USA be it American, Delta, United, or one of the others. They provide free premier movie access, serve a nice warm meal and drink, and make you feel welcomed - Keep up the great work Qantas, you could give the USA airlines lessons on how to treat passengers."
Pros: "Quick & friendly"
Cons: "Not given the right information. Almost missed connecting flight to Vancouver, because of waiting at the carrousel. For luggage that wasn't going to show up. Asked a security person about it. She radioed my #s in. Then told me it's still in Melbourne . A security issue. Now I'm about to miss my conecting flight. Don't worry you can catch the next one. At night, it's 8 am. Then only to find out I'm to go from terminal 1 to 3. Had 10 min. together there and go threw customs. Ran with injured knee."
Pros: "Business class seats are private and allow for lay flat sleeping"
Pros: "One of the representatives was genuinely helpful. She made a better effort than others to help me find another flight replacement."
Cons: "Most representative/consultants were not helpful. I was given inconsistent information by different representatives."
Pros: "Service was good"
Cons: "Delays are too often"
Pros: "Flight was comfortable, in flight entertainment was good, food was good"
Pros: "Crew were lovely, friendly and very helpful."
Pros: "Staff were friendly."
Cons: "The plan was older and the seats were uncomfortable and cramped compared to other long haul flights I've been on. I paid extra to fly with Qantas because it's usually a better experience but this was poor compared to past flights. My tray table was broken and kept falling down. My boyfriend had a lot of technical issues with his TV. Boarding was done poorly as it was a bit of a free for all. And the food was very bad."
Pros: "Crew were affable and courteous, even if not very attentive."
Cons: "The entertainment system was ancient, with small screens, loose sockets for headphones, flaky performance. Only the content was decent (not good). They announce boarding sequence and then fail to honor/enforce it, allowing a free for all."
Cons: "I had pre-requested a seat and got moved when I arrived but I didn't notice so I couldn't ask to be reseated until I got on the plane and realized. I also found the crew to be blunt and not friendly."
Pros: "Service and food was pretty good."
Cons: "Didn't care for the movie selection. Not much of a variety."
Pros: "Easy boarding. Good seats. Good entertainment."
Cons: "Qantas seems to be notorious late. This flight was no exception. The food was terrible. They called it a pulled pork sandwich. Jikes. Very crowded"
Pros: "On schedule departure & arrival times Seamless easy check-in at Learmonth"
Cons: "On board food offering was poor Expensive for distance travelled No onboard entertainment"
Cons: "Flight delayed for 8 hours. Flight was to leave at 6.20am but left at 2.30pm. My whole day wasted. Very trying and begin in the airport at 4.00am for reporting and this happens.."
Pros: "Great selection of movies, i liked that the economy cabin at the back of the top floor of the a380 was more personal than a larger economy cabin. Crew were happy to serve me drinks throughout the flight after the halfway point when i started drinking"
Cons: "I would love love love to see airlines recycling the majority of the waste generated during flight..."
Pros: "Attentive crew Loved that they ranged in ages and races I also loved that the crew were helpful and cheery Crew interacted with my daughter well and always stopped to talk or smile at my daughter as they walked past Qantas are truly the best!"
Pros: "Lacks a bar and for that reason is a touch behind Virgin Australia internationally. Great seats though"
Pros: "Service always great. Smooth lift off and landing. Just feels so safe. I trust Qantas 100%."
Pros: "the flight left on time which is always a boon, and the crew were efficient, altho i got the sense that they had done it all many times before, and they were only going thru the motions. the flight was incredibly full, so little room to move around, and leg room is a definite challenge! the bathrooms were good, they didn't smell like most airlines do! Food was generous in portion size, and there were yummy snacks also."
Cons: "the aisles in the plane were very narrow, so getting up to go to the bathroon with everyone else became a challenge! apart from the narrow aisles and the lack of leg room it was a good flight."
Cons: "Not told that pretty much the only in flight entertainment required downloading the qantas app"
Pros: "Very friendly crew, and just felt very welcomed from the moment I stepped in. Overall super super awesome"
Pros: "I lucked out and was able to get a emergency row seat which helped tremendously because of having long legs."
Cons: "What I don't like is what is true of all airlines now and that is that if you are born with long legs you are penalized and expected to pay more money than people with short legs - that is prejudice and not fair to people that cannot do anything about it. I understand charging obese people extra because they have a chance to change it. Also, seats are too narrow now!!!"
Cons: "Hot food disgusting."
Pros: "Crew were really good"
Cons: "Using an old plane for a cross country flight was ridiculous"
Pros: "I liked that they accommodated my dietary restrictions and that they supplied us with food for different parts of the flight."
Cons: "I didn't like that I was delayed in the beginning of the flight"
Cons: "It's a long flight, so I get that the crew aren't necessarily in the cheeriest mood at all times. But it's a long flight for the passengers as well. Approaching one's duties with something more than stone-faced grimness would go a long way."
Cons: "Food and cramped seats"
Pros: "Every person that works for this airline (that I came in contact with) was very helpful, extremely nice, and very supprtive."
