They had passengers distanced from each other the whole time, handed out sanitizing wipes as we walked on the plane, made sure folks kept their masks on, gave us individual little baggies with snacks and water bottles that also had individual hand sanitizer packets. I felt so much more safe flying Delta on my way home to Hawaii in July than I did when I flew American Airlines on my way to the mainland in June."

Flight was 9 1/2 hours late!"

Cons: "The rear of the plane was filled with screaming babies, loud uncontrolled children kicking the seats in front of them (mine). Equally loud mothers baby-talked continuously to their offending offspring with no effect. Cabin staff made no attempt to control the noise levels. I recognize some of these small children could have been suffering ear pain from the cabin pressure changes but trained cabin staff could have offered remedies for this. It does not explain the continuous screaming at cruising altitude. I recognize that JETSTAR is an intentionally cheap and nasty airline. I reluctantly took this flight because there was no quality service (like QANTAS) at the time I required. I accept the lack of amenities offered by REAL airlines like complimentary food, drink, entertainment and healthy legroom are the cost of cheap travel but I would have happily paid a higher price for QANTAS had there been a flight. I will not fly JETSTAR again and if no alternative exists with QANTAS, I will choose another airline in spite of my long allegiance to QANTAS CC: QANTAS"

Pros: "The price. It is a budget airline and you pay for everything...EVERYTHING. The food is great, but you have to pay for it. The entertainment options were very good and it was a cheap $9 for my flights between Sydney and Honolulu."
Cons: "I have now flown to Sydney twice from Honolulu for a total of four flights. Each flight had at least one bathroom that was out of service. The website doesn't work very well and didn't always present all of the options to me. For example, I wanted to purchase a meal but the website only allowed me to purchase a generic voucher instead of a meal. Once the website was working, I called customer service and they wouldn't refund me the voucher so I could pre-purchase the meal or apply the voucher towards the meal."

Cons: "The flight was delayed 2 hours without any kind of adjustment on the flight status board, they just told us to keep checking back and listening for announcements. Everything from the food to the entertainment had to be paid for, not even complimentary snacks or coffee on an 11 hour flight. They didn't even offer water or anything at any point, had to hit the beacon to ask for it any time we wanted it and the flight attendants took extremely long and seemed almost annoyed to be bothered. The seats were pretty uncomfortable, more so than the seats on most 1 hour flights I take domestically (which also pretty much universally offer snacks and complimentary coffee, tea and soft drinks in spite of being a tiny fraction of the duration) and, not that this is within their control, but there were 2 infants on board that cried the entire flight through. I will never be flying Jetstar again."

Cons: "The carry-on baggage policy is ridiculously unfair and they don't tell you about the 7kg carry-on restriction at the desk but charge you 50 dollars at the gate when you don't have any other options but pay before you miss the flight"

Flight cancelled by carrier no viable options offered by phone representative held on the telephone for over an hour whilst travelling to airport in an attempt to get a flight home. Holiday cut short, had to return rental car 1/2 day earlier than what had been paid for, lunch reservations had to be cancelled and no responsibility accepted by Jetstar representative. Well they have definitely lost me as a customer, none of the companies I own would treat a customer in such a manner we believe that we NEED customers to stay in business. Then to top it all off had a hour and a half travel time from Bne as opposed to half an hour from Coolangatta."

Cons: "We were so dehydrated after such a long flight. The little cups with only a few sips with your meal is not enough. More water! Comedy options for movies were just bad. Our seats would not stay reclined. Painful sitting/sleeping on such a long flight. Jetstar is supposed to be a budget airline but they really aren't cheaper after they nickel and dime you and then bring out the long sword on the cost of luggage. The 7kg allowance per person on board with no option to purchase more was really hard for us - 2 adults and a baby - and the diaper bag is counted as part of your 7kg, unlike flying in the US. We had 7-8 hr layovers in cool weather."

Cons: "Flight was cancelled at the last minute. Jetstar doesn't have a customer service line you can call so it was very difficult to re-book. The chat was clunky and not compatable with mobile phone. Then they couldn't refund the extra fees I had paid for assigned seats - that is a "different chat site" though I was reassigned a Quantas ticket and given tickets that had us split up on that flight. They couldn't give me a booking number or anything like that for the Quantas flight either. I will just save the hassle and fly with Quantas next time. Unimpressed with JetStar and their customer service was terrible. Still out the refund money and frankly it is worth it not to have to deal with them again."

Cons: "I was extremely disappointed not to have a blanket provided without charge, or a small meal or even a tea beverage without a costly purchase! I paid for a flight from Australia to Honolulu, a minimum of almost 10 hours, and no meal, no beverages, no blanket for an overnight flight without a costly additional purchase. I have tellethto health issues as it is, nevermind no half warm sleep or supplementary beverages or meal. I felt very used and taken advantage of. Substantially disappointed with the way we were treated for such a long overnight flight."

Cons: "I paid for seat selection >6mo in advance and they gave away my seat with no explanation. The selection of movies on the paid entertainment system is quite poor."

Cons: "Change in Jetstarflight times messed up our other connections and we had to stay in Melbourne 2 extra days (at our own expense) to avoid the a 12 hour layover in Sydney on the "next available flight" that was offered instead. Seats were very uncomfortable (especially the headrest), too close together, and mine didn't recline. There was a lot of turbulance, unlike any I had ever been in before. The plane seemed to be shifting left and right instead of up and down. The temperature varied from too hot to too cold."

Pros: "I like the fact that when you book a flight you then have to pay for a seat .... What do you expect us to stand ! then you have to pay for baggage and all the other hidden costs .... after you have payed !"
Cons: "Dont have a credit card and they say we will be only taking credit card for beverages . On the flight over they said the reason was because we came from Bali and had no change but why the flight from Adelaide so again couldn't buy anything... Great service !"

Pros: "I liked how they were on time to Sydney. The plane was larger and more comfortable. It was pretty clean throughout. The pilots were experienced and we had a good landing at both ends. There were nice screens for each seat and USB charge inputs."
Cons: "I didn't like the fact that I couldn't do a web check-in for flying to and from the US. They didn't have any kiosk to do a check in as well. The line for a manual check in at the Sydney airport was very long (over 40 minutes). The food was really gross, unsettling to my stomach, expensive, and served in the tiniest portions. They charged me $160 to check in my carry on (must be 7 kilos). They randomly choose which baggage to weigh. The flight attendants barely spoke English. The desk staff are understaffed and work at the front and the gate, which was unusual."

Cons: "We booked through Kayak and weren't told that when you book a flight with Jetstar, you get NO BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE. ZERO, ZIP, NIL. We didn't know this and assumed like other Australian and New Zealand carriers, we would each get one free bag, so I went online and paid $25 for a third bag. When we checked in for a domestic flight, we were told that we would have to pay $400 to send our luggage with us. THAT WAS MORE THAN WE PAID FOR OUR SEATS! We were also told that had we paid for our luggage ahead of time, it would have only been $60. Be very careful if you fly this airline. Make sure you know what is and what is not included with your ticket, especially if you use a third party to purchase your tickets. PS - All drinks (including coffee, tea, soda, etc.)are extra. Frankly, I'm surprised they don't charge for using the toilet in flight"

Pros: "Seats were comfortable for coach (I take sanitary wipes and wipe down my area because it is usually not up to my standard), restrooms were clean and spacious, flight was smooth going both ways. Flight attendants were attentive and would help you out with whatever you needed (use the call button!). We paid the $7 each to choose our seats. Do this, if you can...the exit rows near the restrooms have a lot of leg room."
Cons: "Baggage fees are pricey! We paid about $50 USD (each way) for one suitcase (25kg). Buy a hand held weight or weigh your bag and pay online PRIOR to your flight. Give yourself 5 extra kg of room just in case. Trust me, this will help and work out better than waiting until check in. Also, make sure your carryon is not over the allotted weight. They will weigh it at check in. I wish there were more entertainment options. Paid the $10 both ways...trip was 9+ hours each way. There are only maybe 30 or so movie choices, a few TV options and some games. On the way back my monitor froze a few times and restarted itself. Check in at Sydney was a nightmare. It took 60 minutes to check in one bag, but security was smooth and fairly quick. The food options are few and you have to pay for everything except water. We got a coffee and a soda and it was around $10AUD. A little pricey for a 3/4 cup of coffee, no refill."

It costs extra to select a seat, the airline seems to specialize in putting families with small children in the 'premium' seats which mean those of us who want a quiet trip instead get a screaming child behind, next to, and in front of us. Cons: "The luggage policy is opaque. We boarded in Honolulu, going to Sydney, and checked our bags at no cost in order to limit our carry-on to 7 kilos per their rules. The return flight was to follow the same plan but they told us it would be $160 AUD per piece at check-in! Granted, $160 AUD is only $115 USD but that's OUTRAGEOUS. They looked at the luggage and said we could carry it on! Who makes these rules?! The Aussies have it figured out but if you're an American with no prior experience BEWARE. The Aussies I spoke to refer to Jetstar with a much more derogatory term ending with star. Wonder why. If your goal is a comfortable flight to/around Australia, take another line. If you want cut-rate, cattle-class with a high risk of a screaming child in your ears (I was wearing noise-cancelling headphones), then choose Jetstar. For my purposes, Jetstar is no-star. I won't fly them again."

Pros: "USB chargers, flight ran to time and left on time. Very smooth landing."
Cons: "Cost of checked baggage is too high. I also paid for five meals and only received three, and got the fourth only after asking. Could not be bothered fighting over the fifth as there were only four of us travelling and had only accidentally paid for five. After all the costs for add-ons, it's better to pay slightly more for a better carrier."

Pros: "Fantastic value flight, new dreamliner planes are a plus"
Cons: "As with any value, there are some caveats. You must purchase baggage, food, seating and entertainment separately. Fee for all these services can amount to a full fare ticket on another airline that bundles it all in the price of your ticket, so shop around. Website is somewhat confusing on baggage allowance. You can purchase a set amount of weight, and decide that up into as many bags as you like. Ex: purchase upto 40kg max, and you can take 4 bags, 10kg each, or any combination there of. Also, make sure to purchase baggage online as doing it at the airport counter can run 25usd PER KILO. Enjoy your flight."

Pros: "My son and I had previously taken Jetstar from Bangkok to Melbourne (out of desperation; our Thai visa was expiring), so we already knew about a) no complementary food or beverages (you get one glass of water if you ask, then are pointed to the back of the plane and the tap) b) having to pay to watch movies c) no email confirmation of flight d) uncomfortable seats What we did not know but learned on our next JetStar flight (Melbourne to Honolulu), a week later: -again, no email confirmation, and as we were out of continent, we had no personal cellphone usage so no text to tell us the flight would be leaving 3.5 hours late (other customers were getting conflicting texts) .. -we were charged a criminal $160\each extra for our backpacks at checkout!! They said it was weight, and that our packs were too large for carry-on. (Frankly, upon reading all the other comments here, I am beginning to think this is a scam, and they need to be called on it.) As we paid an extra $320, plus the airline was late, I asked if we might at least get a $10 meal voucher. Answer? No. The airline has to be 4 hours late. -asked for a pillow and blanket for the approximately 10-hr night flight. Answer: "No pillows, and you had to book a blanket in advance." I am outraged."

Pros: "The price would have been very attractive if my cost hadn't doubled due to missing the outbound flight then getting stuck with outrageous luggage costs on the return"
Cons: "I actually missed my flight from Honolulu due to confusion over crossing the international dateline - I had several days in Oahu to break up the brutal flight from US mainland-OZ. I take my share of the blame for the screw-up - but still - normally I would get an email especially on an international flight a few days ahead confirming flight, doing web checkin etc. - got nothing from Jetstar, had to pay for the RT almost all over again. Then, shook up about that situation, I didn't pay the checkin luggage at booking. The customer service person was helping me rebook over the phone mentioned NOTHING about it costing $410 AUD to check one shortboard and a rollerbag at the airport. Again, no web checking, nothing to prompt for advance baggage checkin. The mortified counter agent did suggest repacking to maximize carry-on which brought it to $335 AUD - but still - bad overall experience which a little software support - which should cost Jetstar next to nothing once installed - would have rectified almost completely. Although - who can figure out those checked baggage costs anyway? You definitely need a computer program to do it...."

Pros: "I liked nothing other than my very expensive Gold luggage (which seemed like that was what I was paying for) arrive at my destination as expected. I liked nothing about the flight experience."
Cons: "Oh where do I start. I guess check-in at the Sydney airport. Apparently this airline has a very different baggage policy. A policy that is not really readily available for you to see. Customer Service at the counter was horrible including the manager that we talked to. We ended up throwing things in the trash to get our weight down and we were told we changed our baggage weight and lowered our own allowance . How rediculous would that be of us. They even told us we were only allowed 1 carry on which includes our purse and could not be over A certsin weight. For a small carry-on......that is really rediculous. Our luggage cost us $470.00. We had no complimentary food or entertainment for our 8 hour flight. We will NEVER fly this airline again and I hope from reading this review and many others, that you won't either."
