Find cheap flights from Cairns to Melbourne

Pros: Early morning flight meant no delays. Walked straight on the flight and we were off. No fuss...

Cons: The flight announcements were loud and abrasive which woke everyone sleeping on the early morning flight. No doubt is was that particular cabin manager and not the norm.

Cons: Excessive and tricky baggage fees. Not even free water. Plane was filthy. Crew had bad attitude. And it was 1 hour late.

Cons: very confusing and stupid luggage policy. I paid extra for weight but did not appear to need to so as no one's bags were weighed (maybe because we left out of the international terminal?). Get rid of the weight requirements and just do a bag size and number limit. (We can all count, but few folks have a scale to accurately weigh their luggage - especially tourists).

Cons: Food/drinks

Pros: The flight was routine and got us to where we wanted to go

Cons: The flight was 20 minutes late leaving

Cons: Having to put my own luggage tags on only to be told by a fit man “ they’re upside down!’l he should’ve put them On !!

Pros: Everything went smoothly as on earlier experiences. Friendly and helpful staff at airport.

Cons: The departure gate was not displayed on the electronic board at the airport until an announcement that boarding was 'commencing' which caused some unnecessary anxiety.

Pros: Price was good. Flight was delayed due to delay in incoming flight, and explanation was clear.

Cons: My poor spine does not like budget airline seats at all.

Cons: Cheap airline with "gotcha" approach. We were not able to check in on line (their site was not able to find our Kayak reservations). When we showed up in the airport, they refused us to have luggage as carry on and charged us $50 per each piece. They told "you should have checked in baggage on line". REALLY????. No surprise, the flight was late.

Cons: Worst airline I have ever used. The crew of the actual flight was fine but the people working for the airline in the terminal were very rude. Unfortunately this cheap airline doesn't include any baggage with their ticket prices (which I have never heard of before) and I was extremely surprised when we had to pay $150 for our regular checked luggage that we have flown with for free all over Australia from the US on 5 flights so far. That I can deal with but then the real fun became when we were on line to board the plane and the in terminal crew came out with scales and pulled a nice little scam of charging to check in any carry on luggage (which the woman at the check in counter said was ok to bring on board) for $50 a bag which even included a small suitcase that fit easily in the overhead compartment. If I had only spent the extra $20 or so to use a real airline from the beginning I would have saved $250 on the baggage costs that Jetstar scammed from me. Never ever again will I use this airline and I will be writing them this same email. Make sure you all read the fine print when booking this scam of an airline.

Cons: Charged $150 for two bags and charged for everything else on the plane, even coffee! Boarding was terrible, just a free for all with endless lines and no regard for families or those with special needs.

Cons: I had to claim my bag between Jetstar flights and then go through security again to my second leg....I flew from Hobart to Auckland today. So at Melbourne I spent several hours in the process Of going to claim my bag, going through security again and rechecking it. Horror...terrible experience. I will never fly Jetstar again....they do not transfer bags between the flights on their own airlines which I booked under the same ticket.

Cons: Our flight was delayed because of poor rostering due to one of the crew being out of hours and another crew member had to be brought from Brisbane to Sydney to join the flight. Not very professional in my eyes.

Pros: It is a short trip and it is easy to get on and off the flight without too much hassle. Except when it is raining as you have to walk from the terminal to the plane. No Food or Entertainment is provided as it is such a short flight

Cons: Jetstar changed our flight and made it earlier by 3 hours, causing us to have to schedule the next day instead and lose half a day at our destination, they didn't even offer a free checked bag to compensate for our losing half a day in touring! Seat recline is almost nil, spacing, my 5'7" frame knees were in the seat in front....boarding chaotic, would never fly them again! Charge bags at odd weight increments.....

Pros: Efficient and friendly ground staff and crew. An overall great experience! This was a Qantas flight operated on Jetstar equipment, which may be the reason checked baggage fees did not apply as the Qantas fee was slightly higher than purchasing straight from Jetstar.

Cons: We had a 4 hour layover in Melbourne and had to pick up our bags and recheck them but we couldn't check them in until 2 hours before our flight and there was a 145aud charge for excess weight they only a!low 15 kg virgin allows 23 and tiger air allows 20. I will not book on them again! They did not even offer water to me the attendants were too busy making sure everyone who had preorder got their order.

Cons: I bought extra leg seats and stayed probably on the worst seats of the plane. Row 10. I asked the flight attendant if that was an extra leg and she ignored me. Terrible service and feeling that I was robbed

Cons: Considering the media coverage of an airborne virus killing people seemingly quickly - I would have expected an airline (travelling from the genesis of the disease) to supply face masks.... the crew and other passengers expressed similar concerns, perhaps a decent consideration.

Cons: Those flying from abroad with luggage should NOT fly with JetStar. The fees are ridiculous!!! There are many other airlines in Australia that are fairly priced.

Cons: Their online baggage fees could not be purchased with either my Mastercard or Visa. Had to resort to Paypal for baggage payment. Flight was also over an hour late departing from Cairns. Crew said that was due to an ;onboard medical emergency' on the inbound flight.

Cons: Very uncomfortable. In addition, At time of boarding, I was carrying a very light carry on. 9lbs. Only airline I've heard charging $50AUS, if it's over 7lb. Unheard of. (For safety reasons). Bull. Many other passengers had plenty of larger and heavier baggage of which I pointed out. Matthew (at the gate) mentioned it didn't matter, because I was the one being selected, (in other words, I was the one that looked most like a tourist). I had a very light LV carry on duffle bag. People were carrying rolling luggage.... While the payment didn't bother me, what bothered me was the fact of having to put my luggage understand. Seats in plane were ridiculously uncomfortable. Unlike anything else.
