Cons: "I booked through Budget Air and was initially online able to confirm seats and meals for my husband and I online with Qantas easily. Months out my flight was cancelled and I was rebooked onto a later flight that would have made us miss all of our transfers to our honeymoon on Fitzroy Island. Because I had booked through 'a 3rd party' Qantas refused to assist me. I managed to convince budget air to change our flights. We were moved to a jetstar flight from Melbourne to cairns. I had to confirm that this had occurred and go through multiple people online to reallocate seats and food options for my husband and myself again. Only my luggage allowance was carried across to jetstar and neither of our meal allowances were. When it came to online check-in with jetstar I could not check my husband in online only myself. I spoke to multiple people online who all confirmed they didn't know why or there was no problem and we should just present ID and check in in person. When we got to the airport Qantas had not transferred the e-ticket code across for my husband's booking and this is why we could not check him in online. The jetstar staff had to try to get his original booking code from Qantas. As it turned out I had to original booking code through budget Air in my hand and had to assert this information to staff. Flying back we were able to check in online fine with Qantas. Our boarding passes printed different sizes but did not present a problem when we dropped off our luggage. When we sent to check in the staff member couldn't get the smaller pass to read and my husband had to assert that he also had it on his phone. Despite all of my online conversations the aisle seat was allocated to me and not my husband who required it because of a medical condition and the flight was 30min delayed. We won't be traveling with Qantas or jetstar, or booking through budget Air again."

Both times I told them I was still drinking that and they disregarded it and threw it in the trash without hesitation. It's like they were robots on autopilot. Also, the male attendant in my row would always bump me pretty severely with his bum while grabbing things from the cart."

You had three seats, the entire middle aisle, yet you decided to take the open seat next to me so they could lay down together. That was nice, I get it, sure. But if your baby is going to cry for hours (and hours, it was a 10.5 hour flight, that poor kid must have been exhausted), pause the movie for a minute, and maybe try to help. I don't mind being inconvenienced for the little ones, I'm a dad of 4 myself, I've traveled a lot and know how it goes. But jesus christ, she's your wife, that's your child, try taking care of them."

Never come when ask for service and completely ignores my first request of an extra blanket if possible. Never comeback to let me know if they have one or not and I was freezing to sick. I have to walk to the back of the plane to find someone to bring me a blanket. Yet he tries to cast me off by lying that he could not find one. When he realize that I really need one he said I can take one from empty seat if I can find any. But after me finding a blanket of another color on one of the empty seat he take it away rudely saying that it is "not for you". Come on I wouldn't take it if no one cares about me freezing and he finally bring me a blanket. And the crew was very unfriendly to me the entire time. When I tried to lay down a little, somehow it surprised the passenger who is behind me, the crew make such a scene that ask me outloud "be careful when moving your seat" well I did. Basically they make no efford to care about anything about me but are super nice to the people who's is behind me who are white and elder. Such obviously discrimination that I cannot tolerant. I have been having frequent international travel for the past 7 years and this is the first time I have such unpleasant experience. I do not recommend this company to anyone. be warned."

Cons: "I have now flown to Sydney twice from Honolulu for a total of four flights. Each flight had at least one bathroom that was out of service. The website doesn't work very well and didn't always present all of the options to me. For example, I wanted to purchase a meal but the website only allowed me to purchase a generic voucher instead of a meal. Once the website was working, I called customer service and they wouldn't refund me the voucher so I could pre-purchase the meal or apply the voucher towards the meal."
Cons: "The flight was delayed 2 hours without any kind of adjustment on the flight status board, they just told us to keep checking back and listening for announcements. Everything from the food to the entertainment had to be paid for, not even complimentary snacks or coffee on an 11 hour flight. They didn't even offer water or anything at any point, had to hit the beacon to ask for it any time we wanted it and the flight attendants took extremely long and seemed almost annoyed to be bothered. The seats were pretty uncomfortable, more so than the seats on most 1 hour flights I take domestically (which also pretty much universally offer snacks and complimentary coffee, tea and soft drinks in spite of being a tiny fraction of the duration) and, not that this is within their control, but there were 2 infants on board that cried the entire flight through. I will never be flying Jetstar again."

Jetstar is supposed to be a budget airline but they really aren't cheaper after they nickel and dime you and then bring out the long sword on the cost of luggage. The 7kg allowance per person on board with no option to purchase more was really hard for us - 2 adults and a baby - and the diaper bag is counted as part of your 7kg, unlike flying in the US. We had 7-8 hr layovers in cool weather."

Substantially disappointed with the way we were treated for such a long overnight flight."

Cons: "Change in Jetstarflight times messed up our other connections and we had to stay in Melbourne 2 extra days (at our own expense) to avoid the a 12 hour layover in Sydney on the "next available flight" that was offered instead. Seats were very uncomfortable (especially the headrest), too close together, and mine didn't recline. There was a lot of turbulance, unlike any I had ever been in before. The plane seemed to be shifting left and right instead of up and down. The temperature varied from too hot to too cold."

The line for a manual check in at the Sydney airport was very long (over 40 minutes). The food was really gross, unsettling to my stomach, expensive, and served in the tiniest portions. They charged me $160 to check in my carry on (must be 7 kilos). They randomly choose which baggage to weigh. The flight attendants barely spoke English. The desk staff are understaffed and work at the front and the gate, which was unusual."
Pros: "Seats were comfortable for coach (I take sanitary wipes and wipe down my area because it is usually not up to my standard), restrooms were clean and spacious, flight was smooth going both ways. Flight attendants were attentive and would help you out with whatever you needed (use the call button!). We paid the $7 each to choose our seats. Do this, if you can...the exit rows near the restrooms have a lot of leg room."
Cons: "Baggage fees are pricey! We paid about $50 USD (each way) for one suitcase (25kg). Buy a hand held weight or weigh your bag and pay online PRIOR to your flight. Give yourself 5 extra kg of room just in case. Trust me, this will help and work out better than waiting until check in. Also, make sure your carryon is not over the allotted weight. They will weigh it at check in. I wish there were more entertainment options. Paid the $10 both ways...trip was 9+ hours each way. There are only maybe 30 or so movie choices, a few TV options and some games. On the way back my monitor froze a few times and restarted itself. Check in at Sydney was a nightmare. It took 60 minutes to check in one bag, but security was smooth and fairly quick. The food options are few and you have to pay for everything except water. We got a coffee and a soda and it was around $10AUD. A little pricey for a 3/4 cup of coffee, no refill."

You can purchase a set amount of weight, and decide that up into as many bags as you like. Ex: purchase upto 40kg max, and you can take 4 bags, 10kg each, or any combination there of. Also, make sure to purchase baggage online as doing it at the airport counter can run 25usd PER KILO. Enjoy your flight."
Pros: "My son and I had previously taken Jetstar from Bangkok to Melbourne (out of desperation; our Thai visa was expiring), so we already knew about a) no complementary food or beverages (you get one glass of water if you ask, then are pointed to the back of the plane and the tap) b) having to pay to watch movies c) no email confirmation of flight d) uncomfortable seats What we did not know but learned on our next JetStar flight (Melbourne to Honolulu), a week later: -again, no email confirmation, and as we were out of continent, we had no personal cellphone usage so no text to tell us the flight would be leaving 3.5 hours late (other customers were getting conflicting texts) .. -we were charged a criminal $160\each extra for our backpacks at checkout!! They said it was weight, and that our packs were too large for carry-on. (Frankly, upon reading all the other comments here, I am beginning to think this is a scam, and they need to be called on it.) As we paid an extra $320, plus the airline was late, I asked if we might at least get a $10 meal voucher. Answer? No. The airline has to be 4 hours late. -asked for a pillow and blanket for the approximately 10-hr night flight. Answer: "No pillows, and you had to book a blanket in advance." I am outraged."

I take my share of the blame for the screw-up - but still - normally I would get an email especially on an international flight a few days ahead confirming flight, doing web checkin etc. - got nothing from Jetstar, had to pay for the RT almost all over again. Then, shook up about that situation, I didn't pay the checkin luggage at booking. The customer service person was helping me rebook over the phone mentioned NOTHING about it costing $410 AUD to check one shortboard and a rollerbag at the airport. Again, no web checking, nothing to prompt for advance baggage checkin. The mortified counter agent did suggest repacking to maximize carry-on which brought it to $335 AUD - but still - bad overall experience which a little software support - which should cost Jetstar next to nothing once installed - would have rectified almost completely. Although - who can figure out those checked baggage costs anyway? You definitely need a computer program to do it...."
Pros: "I liked nothing other than my very expensive Gold luggage (which seemed like that was what I was paying for) arrive at my destination as expected. I liked nothing about the flight experience."
Cons: "Oh where do I start. I guess check-in at the Sydney airport. Apparently this airline has a very different baggage policy. A policy that is not really readily available for you to see. Customer Service at the counter was horrible including the manager that we talked to. We ended up throwing things in the trash to get our weight down and we were told we changed our baggage weight and lowered our own allowance . How rediculous would that be of us. They even told us we were only allowed 1 carry on which includes our purse and could not be over A certsin weight. For a small carry-on......that is really rediculous. Our luggage cost us $470.00. We had no complimentary food or entertainment for our 8 hour flight. We will NEVER fly this airline again and I hope from reading this review and many others, that you won't either."
