Cons: "Over all it's ok good"
Pros: "Everything went smoothly as scheduled."
Cons: "The waiting"
Pros: "Easy check in"
Cons: "Crew didn't come around enough with water"
Pros: "Quick check-in"
Cons: "The whole terminal is budget. Hardly any seating once you go through to the gates and its a 7-minute walk back to the food court. Nowhere to charge phones. Nothing complimentary on the flight so if Virgin or Qantas are around $20-30 more, do it!"
Pros: "We were surprised when we boarded the plane that we were flying with the new dremliner. The boarding was extremely efficient. They provided us with free movie too on board."
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "Everything....no food, no entertainment"
Pros: "The lady at the check-in counter was very helpful!"
Cons: "The seat were pretty uncomfortable for a almost 4 hour flight. It felt like we were squeezed into a tuna can. Also was surprised there was not a movie playing or wifi available to pass the time on a long flight."
Cons: "Kayak and Jetstar should tell customers on line ahead of booking what the additional fees will be and offer the option to add those fees to the ticket price at the time of online reservation. It is a pain in the ... to be in a foreign country trying to use your iPhone to deal with these last minute charges so it is not at the airport counter last minute which they double the fees by the way (if you wait until you're in the airport)! Leaves a bad impression of Kayak and Jetstar. Lesson learned the hard way. Won't happen to me again. Buyers beware!"
Cons: "1 hour delay on take off"
Cons: "The floor next to my seat looked like someone had emptied their chip packet on it. The plane was late arriving but surely there’s time to vacuum up the mess!"
Pros: "Head rests on bigger flight Nice flight attendants"
Cons: "Having to pay 100 dollars to pay for baggage I didn't even know I had to pre buy. Just ridiculous! This is not common and should be able to be purchased when you check in like everywhere else. "Read the fine print" is not a right cause to screw people over. Having to pay to watch movies. Free section a complete joke!"
Pros: "Considerate crew on the plane."
Cons: "Took us 3 attempts to send our 23kg luggage through automated stations due to multiple issues. We did not receive a gate number on the departure boards until 5 mins AFTER we were suppose to start boarding according to our boarding pass, so we had to rush through the airport to make the plane on time. Once we reached the gate with only minutes to spare Jetstar brought out a scale and decided it was time to weight the carry on luggage, anything over 7kg then had to be checked, no opportunity to move items into the bags already check that we had already paid for. Any refreshments on the plane had to be purchased seperately, cheap as!! This experience just felt like they were trying to take your money at every turn. Treat the service like a taxi, point A to point B only and KNOW THIER RULES before you show up otherwise the will screw you over."
Pros: "Friendliness of the staff."
Cons: "Lateness of flight"
Pros: "Great staff"
Cons: "Delayed departure"
Cons: "I had to pay extra for my luggage, food, and alcohol."
Pros: "because I fly a lot in the US, I actually thought there was more space on the planes than we usually have here. I also don't mind not having food for free since we don't usually either. beverages would be nice, but since we were able to bring our own through security in Australia, it didn't bother me. Compared to most airlines in the US, it was great. Much more efficient as well. Even though we had to pay extra for luggage, there was tiered pricing by weight and it was still cheaper than most carriers in the US."
Pros: "Boarded quickly and no delays. Didn't order any food and no entertainment on planes from Nelson to Auckland"
Cons: "Baggage took a while to come out. Likely due to Jetstar only having one carousel."
Cons: "Was so cold on the flight and couldn't sleep."
Pros: "Nothing."
Cons: "Awful service, took a booking from Melbourne to Aukland and cancelled 5 hours later. Offered no alternative or option but to leave our trip. Completely destroyed our travels which we saved years to accomplish. Avoid these (JETSTAR) like the plague, unless you want an incompetent airline to wreck your traveling. Words really cannot describe our feelings towards our treatment and lack of any empathy from the airline, who took a booking and then cancelled it in record and and said there is no other flights! Thanks for that - never again."
Pros: "Safe."
Cons: "Ended up on a Jetstar flight on a codeshare arrangement with our booked airline Qantas. The journey didn’t start well when our bags would not scan through the self serve checkin as we had not booked direct with Jetstar. We then asked for an aisle seat, but this was refused - the “customer service” assistant advised we should have paid extra to pre-reserve a seat (a no cost option on Qantas). Then when we entered the plane we found that both adjacent aisle seats were in fact vacant. Food was an additional cost item - on an 8 hour flight. Those unlucky enough to ask for a meal late found that there was nothing left for them. Entertainment was also an additional cost item - when paid for the selection was extremely limited, the system slow. The entertainment froze up requiring a reboot. Though not the airline’s fault, the person behind was very fidgety, making it very uncomfortable for anyone sitting in front of him. If the seats were slightly further apart we might not have had that experience either. All in all not the best, given that we had booked with a full price airline and ended up on a budget airline instead."
Pros: "On time departure/arrival"
Pros: "Boarding was quick"
Cons: "Shame the staff were not more friendly, I took my rubbish to find a bin and the flight attendant expressed her annoyance and me. Asking her where I can put it. They don't smile and when you asked a question they treated me like I was a nuisance"
Pros: "Efficient on time departure and arrival. Good inflight entertainment"
Cons: "Credit card only for purchases without advance notice is a bit ordinary"
Cons: "We were charged over $300 (NZ) for the check in luggage!!! I told the agent this is ridiculous, our seats were only $159 (NZ). She said that I should have read the "terms & conditions." Like other reviewers, I booked this flight over 3 months ago and didn't take note of any extra charges for checked-in luggage. After reading the comments of others in the same situation, I realize that I'm not alone. I wish I had checked out these reviews of Jetstar BEFORE I booked. You would be doing your clients a big favor to include mention of this strange practice of not including luggage fees by Jetstar..and warn them that these fees could bring the total cost of their airfare to over $500 for a 100 minute domestic flight for 2 travelers. My husband said next time we're going through a travel agent. Sorry"
Pros: "it got us there"
Cons: "2.5 hrs late an no idea when we were leaving"
Cons: "Hassled at luggage check in. Had to throw out clothes and shoes to meet weight requirements as they charge $25 a kilogram for extra weight which was not disclosed when we received our confirmation. We were the only ones hassled over being a few kilos over each. Many people hand large luggage carry ons which wouldn't even fit in the luggage testers yet no one said anything to them. 90 percent of the people were easily over the 7KG weight allowance for carry on luggage and were not hassled at all. It was pure discrimination and perhaps it was because I was italian or my wife had blond hair. Who knows. I have been on hundreds of flights in my life and have never been so humiliated in my life. The blonde luggage counter and boarding ticket taker, was insulting and even insisted on seeing our australian visitors permit which is not required according to Australian customs once you have paid for it and are registered. She even tried to force my wife to check her bag even though it fit in their luggage sizing testers. Another tall lady with glasses at the luggage check in area, was also very insulting and discriminated against us. Horrible experience. Both of those people would be fired if I was running the airline. Its a service business and while I understand rules, you have to have some discretion and if your going to enforce them, they must apply to all passengers, not just 2 people out of 150!"
Pros: "The fare was cheap and my body physically was moved from the origin to the destination..."
Cons: "The website and customer service are annoyingly difficult to use, potentially designed to force you to pay more for extras like bags. For instance, if you pay for your bag ahead of time, it is meant to be cheaper. I tried to pay for my bag ahead of time and it took me to a check-in page. I tried multiple times but only ever got to the same check-in page. Figuring that perhaps I needed to check in first, I did this step only to find that if you pay for your bag after check in, it costs more money!! On the return trip, I felt wiser so I refused to fill in the check-in page before paying for baggage. I exhausted every possible link on their website and ultimately had to call customer service. This took an annoyingly long time. I was told when I tried to pay for a 15kg bag that they had run out of space on the plane and I couldn't pay for this; however, I COULD pay for a 20kg bag at a higher price. WHAT? As I was told this was my only option, I took it, but the logic defies reason and makes me conclude that their systems are simply designed to force you to pay for extras. If I had it to do over, I would just book Air New Zealand for an extra $50-- it would save me plenty of time and hassle."
Cons: "Change in Jetstarflight times messed up our other connections and we had to stay in Melbourne 2 extra days (at our own expense) to avoid the a 12 hour layover in Sydney on the "next available flight" that was offered instead. Seats were very uncomfortable (especially the headrest), too close together, and mine didn't recline. There was a lot of turbulance, unlike any I had ever been in before. The plane seemed to be shifting left and right instead of up and down. The temperature varied from too hot to too cold."
Pros: "Please notify kayak customers at time of purchase the need to prepurchase the food. The flight ran out of non prepurchased food. Also, allow the kayak customer to purchase in flight entertainment at time of checkout if cheaper as it was for jetstar"
Pros: "We selected this flight with no knowledge of this airline, as we were coming from the states. Being international traveling for three weeks obviously we had some luggage with us. This domestic flight does not allow any free check in, and you are only allowed 7 kg as a carry-on. You also have to pre-pay for your check in baggage before you get to the airport otherwise you are charged three times the price. If you don't know all of this before you go, you will be in big trouble. I do not recommend this airline for international travelers."
Pros: "I wasn't happy about the boarding part of it. On our tickets we were boarding through gat 18B and was changed to gate three but there was a serious communication breakdown so much that we had to rush to gate 3 the last minute thing after we looked or made enquiries for ourselves"
Cons: "It was $25 per kilo if I didn't pre add it on my ticket. Meals were for sale only, not complementary, same for entertainment. The plane was comfortable enough and the crew were kind. But the company pinched pennies and over charged at every turn. Don't fly with them!"
Cons: "Flight was delayed - Then the Jetstar staff were ;late so a flight that was already late was delayed even further. I know you are a discount airline, but the seats are truly awful. I will never fly with you again and will tell friends and family never to either - The small saving made from flying with you is not worth the constat delays and how uncomfortable the whole journey is"
Cons: "Left late and ripped the handle off my case."
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "Ground staff attitude, very inconsiderate, we thought that being an international flight , we were entitled to checked baggage so did not include that when we did booking. Found out at the airport that we did not have any checked baggage allowance. Although we explained that this was an error as we were under the impression that checked baggage was always included for international flights they were very in considerate and made us pay $ 320.00. Will inform everyone to avoid Jet Star airlines when they travel."
Cons: "it delay too late at night. Others services were very good"
Pros: "Initially I liked the price and time of the flight, but the amount you have to pay for luggage negated the first thing, so all I was left with was convenient timing. The plane crew was nice, though as there was no beverage or food service unless you paid for it (they will give you tap water for free), there wasn't much for them to do."
Cons: "They weigh your carry-on bag and have a ridiculous 7kg (combined personal and carry-on) limit. Then they blast you with a $25 per kg overage, so if you have the misfortune of being 5kg over (as I was) you get the pleasure of a $125 fee (which I just saw my card was charged $250 - I need to contest that). The seats are so thin you feel the tray of the seat behind you pressing into your back the whole flight, and they recline maybe a whole 2 inches. There is no entertainment, no beverage or snack service and the plane sounds and feels like a cheap car with terribly loud noise and no shocks. As I said in the title, I'd recommend quantas or new Zealand air and spend slightly more (or maybe less after the baggage overage fees) for a better all around experience."
Pros: "Extra leg room seats"
Cons: "Lack of movie choices"
Pros: "Friendly cabin crew, no frills but nice and relaxed."
Cons: "Long walk to the boarding gate in Melbourne, poor design by Melbourne airport having check-in so far from the departure gates without travellators. Could be an issue for people that are less mobile."
Cons: "Seats have no lumbar support. Uncomfortable"
Pros: "Great people , completely happy with my trip ' ! Thanks jets star"
Pros: "Crew were friendly and cheerful."
Cons: "Crew were not aware I had a starter plus package which included a food voucher. This often happens with Jetstar and is annoying when you have paid for the extras. Also flight was delayed and I had to make a connecting flight. Would have been good if crew ensured people did not straggle when boarding with the appropriate announcements."
Pros: "It was shortish"
Cons: "Used Qantas frequent flyers for this flight, the booking reference wouldn't work to manage the booking via Jetstar or Qantas so unable to select seats etc. We were allocated the 2 worst seats on the plane basically in the galley next to the toilets and no window. Unable to sleep or relax due to the seat constantly being knocked by passengers going to bathroom or sitting on the arm rest and when that wasn't happening the fight attendants chatting away behind us sounded like they were inside your head you were that far in to the galley. Wouldn't pay for this flight."
Cons: "at check in we were told that there is normally a charge per kilo for all checked in baggage but that it would be waved. that was not stated at the time I bought the tickets online, otherwise I may have opted to use another airline. Using Jetstar was supposed to be an economical choice but given the baggage fees it ups the total and takes them out of consideration for me. I will not use them in the future, you inform people in advance, not hide fees until check in. I don't trust them now."
Pros: "See above."
Cons: "See above."
Pros: "Upon check in, I was unable to proceed with checking my luggage because apparently when I booked the flight through Kayak, it did not prompt me to indicate how many bags I would be checking on this flight. On the day of the flight, it costs $160 AUD to check a bag that is 15kg! $160AUD!!! That is an insanely high amount of money to check 1 piece of luggage. For every 1kg over 15, it is an additional $25AUD. Can you believe that? The airline refused to waive the fee and blamed the 3rd party booking company (Kayak) for the oversight. They did, however, let me sit in a exit row, free of charge. This is so backwards. I would have much rather just sat in a normal seat and checked my bag for free."
Cons: "Once I boarded the flight, I was seated in an exit row, and something was leaking from the area above me. It looked like the color of coca-cola and/or urine. I called the flight attendant over to my seat once the seat-belt sign was off, and he immediately assumed that my bag in the overhead was causing the leak rather than running to bring something to clean it up and stop the leak. He kept checking the overhead luggage area when the leak was clearly coming from the air conditioning unit. The leak splattered onto my arm, book and passport. It was disgusting. I had to ask the flight attendant if I could move seats. I was not given any type of voucher for a free drink, free seat upgrade or free luggage check. Yuck. Thankfully the leak eventually stopped."
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "The flight was scheduled to leave just after 6 in the morning. However the time kept on being pushed back because they couldn't fix the problem. I understand things happen but the plane was sitting there overnight. They could have checked it earlier to determine if it was ready to go which might have allowed them to fix the problem instead of canceling the flight."
Pros: "New Melbourne T4 is a great improvement re comfort and facilities"
Cons: "See above"
Cons: "Be prepared to walk huge distances through depressing corridors to get to your Jetstar flight. Allow lots of time, there are no travellators. If you want to use the Qantas Lounge, carry a cut lunch and allow an extra 45 minutes. It is way up the opposite end of the terminals and it's in and out of security. No Jetstar flight announcements are made any more. If you want to fly out of Melbourne, it's time to switch to Virgin."
