I had to wait while attendant at counter tried to find seats and only watch as they were taken by someone else several times. So unnecessarily stressful and misleading. Lost my original seats, had to sit separate from my companion, and no real concern by Virgin about their impact on customers' plans. Last time I flew, the plane was cancelled, and we had to wait hours for another one in the terminal, so I missed the body corporate meeting that was the ONLY reason I was flying to Brisbane, paying for overnight accommodation and car rental and flight and I MISSED it. Huge cost for NOTHING, as despite driving straight to the meeting, it was just finishing. Whilst at the airport trying to fly home, I heard another Virgin flight cancelled , again due to "unscheduled maintenance". Seems that maintenance and mechanical problems are common and way more common than they should be. So that is a big worry!"

I should have booked Qantas instead of Virgin."

New flight delayed 3 times and I ended up being in Newark for 9 hours and got a total of $30 in vouchers, had anyone that gives these vouchers out bought anything in an airport before? Cons: "The outbound plane from Newark to Frankfurt was late by 1.5 hr because United could not figure out how to bring the plane (that was sitting in the middle of the airfield to the gate and then they realized that they need get catering supplies to feed the passengers and we were waiting for that too. The inbound flight from Frankfurt to Newark was late by 1.45 hours since they were fixing a computer problem on board. The flight was totally over air-conditioned and when I asked to bring an extra blanket for me the flight attendant started lecturing me that I was wearing shorts and a polo shirt (in the 86F heat at FRA and EWR it was ok!) and that she had no blankets. The second flight attendant who for some reason came 2 miins after the first one apologized for the attitude of his female colleague and immediately brought me an extra blanket."

The staff in LAX were not as friendly but then I am just glad that everything was handled for her at such a young age being taken through such a big place. My daughter said she slept very little overnight due to a rude passenger who was talking very loudly and using a phone. But over all she was happy with the in-flight entertainment and I was pleased with the amount of baggage allowed at no extra fee."

Cons: "The plane was terrible. The seats are so close together that you cannot move. The aisle is so narrow that one person can barely down it. Forget it if you have to pass by someone. The bathroom too is so small that you cannot move in it. It’s so uncomfortable. The new boarding process is just dumb. And to make matters worse they don’t even bother to check the boarding groups when you board. I had a person in a later boarding group in front of me and they let her on anyway — so what’s the point of having boarding groups. They should just go back to boarding from the rear of the plane first - that is the most efficient and quick way to do it. The so called entertainment is a joke. There is a very small choice of movies/TV shows to watch and that’s it. The free wi-fi gets you nowhere."

The man proceeded to put a large tray on the conveyor belt, swing our bags in the air then smash them down into the tray. This was done to both bags as if we weren't there. Had there been something expensive in there it would have been totally destroyed. He really couldn't have cared less about our bags and their contents. We were talking to a woman on the plane who was telling us that a woman a few rows behind who had a new born baby as was told she would be given a seat with extra legroom had this taken away from her to United could sell the seat to someone paying for it. The chicken and orzo dinner was absolutely revolting. The orzo was so over cooked that it just turned to mush and the chicken really didn't taste like it had ever seen a chicken. All this combined with the issues we had on our flight out show that United are scum and just see you as ££. Sorry I cant be more complementary than that, its just the truth."

They told us to go to the website to request a refund and wouldn't offer us any flight upgrades. We got on the flight and people were told not to sit in the unoccupied enconomy plus seats unless they paid for them. Pretty poor that considering there were at least 2 rows of seats available they are so tight they can't even be bothered to compensate us in a way that won't effect their bottom line. We completed the return request only to be told that refunds are not offered on schedule changes. Again pretty shoddy customer service and shows that all they are about is your money. The breakfast we had was disgusting. The melted cheese looked like someone had vomited onto my tray. On waiting for our connecting flight there was an old lady who was dumped at a gate on a wheel chair. They person then left without telling them what was happening. We could see she was anxious about not knowing what was happening. My wife went to the United help desk to ask for information for the lady's flight and was told she should just check the information board and dismissed. Not sure how an old lady who can't walk is meant to do this (this was explained to them). If United had bothered to make some kind of effort to be at least helpful in any stage with refunding / upgrading us and being helpful to an old lady maybe this review would be different. Ultimately all they care about is your money and will deliver a shockingly bad customer service wherever they can get away with it. I WONT be flying United again. I will pay more for another airline."

The list of movies on the United entertainment app is great (via internet) but connectivity on this type of flight is spotty so the traveler is forced back to the antique screen plane system. Dinner. Butter chicken or vegetable options. Food was bland and very small portions for the length of flight. The snack was delivered immediately after dinner was picked up. I did not open it. Looked like a hard roll with something on it. Style of service is abrupt, bordering on rude. Uses terminology that non-US travelers from different cultures would not understand, for instance do you want "white" coffee. Asked me if I had someone at home to pick up after me as she felt she was cleaning too much off the floor. Her comments appeared to be directed at me but it was not my trash (and even if it was, a better approach would be recommended). The flight attendant realized she had gone too far and apologized. Then complained about this "route" being difficult, with no one listening. She concluded by wishing me a good flight and saying that she hoped that she had not offended me. I assured her that she had. Breakfast was mediocre. Egg with soggy potatoes and an inedible sausage. Did not see what they were offering in the veggie dish. Staff seems tired and not culturally sensitive. There needs to be some retraining and consideration given to long haul menus and entertainment. I take this flight at least once a year. It continues to deteriorate."

There's suppose to be an option with mobile devices but when you make the ticket purchase it only says that entertainment is included in longflights and it is not. I paid for the entertrainment system but you have only some options and the movies start according to their own schedule so you can't really pick what you want to watch. And the directv remotes are not set in a good place, the are in the arm rest, so everytime the person next to you moves the wrong way they change your channel or turn the volume down or something else. For such an expensive and long flight the tiny space between chairs and entertainment lack is unacceptable."

Cons: "The seats are lay flat beds. However they are very narrow especially where the feet are resting. If you are over 5ft10 it's too short a bed. You feel that your feet are pressed together when you sleep. Also no seat level storage space. Seats are narrow and are almost impossible to sleep in resting on your side. Would suggest united try out the Emirates airline business class seats on the A380. The British Airways business class seats and New Zealand business class lay flat seats are also much nicer."
Pros: "Nothing to like. 6:00pm flight delayed and kept rescheduling takeoff. Boarded plane about midnight and after ninety plus minutes we were made to deplane because current crew was over their allotted airtime. Kept on plane awaiting a new crew but they couldn't get them so flight cancelled. Attendants told us we would be compensated for cancellation. A big airline like united should have a better grasp on scheduling flight crews and stand bys available instead of putting us through this hell. No hotels available so we all had to stay overnight in uncomfortable chairs with many sleeping on floors. I felt bad for myself as a 69 ur old woman with some health issues but felt even worse for the parents flying with little toddlers who just wanted to go home. The day of my flight Denver had 8" of snow that stopped by 9am yet I couldn't get a flight out till the following evening. Psp to Denver to Newark should have taken six hours but took me over 38 hrs of travel time. Denver should be used to snow and 8" shouldn't cause such extreme disruption at that airport. And united needs to better coordinate its flight schedules and working crews. I will be contacting customer service regarding compensation as cancelled flight was due to company musmagent. Finally it would have been nice if united opened its club to the travelers who couldn't get hotels. Sitting in a comfortable place would have been so much better especially to the elderly and small children traveling. Thank you"
Cons: "I don't think it's fair that you don't any money back of you cancel your plane ticket. It shouldn't matter what type of ticket it was. You should at least be allowed a voucher for the amount of the ticket at a later date. Even if it's a percentage off, you should be allowed something. How is it that you can buy a car worth thousands, and be allowed to return it under the Lemon Law. When a company called can make billions of dollars doing this, it's just taking advantage of the little people."

Cons: "First when seated there was no room for even my purse in the overhead storage. I had to hold everything in my lap. My ticket seats were separated when I was sure I booked the seats together. The blanket given to my seat was in package but was used and very vile smelling. The flight attendant was very rude, had an attitude when I asked for a drink after I wasn't offered one. When landing and I was asleep, flight attendant hit my head to wake me up to adjust my seat to the correct position rather then in a polite way. Also luggage was not with the rest of the planes luggage and on a differnt carousel. I travel often and are use to glitches, but when cleanliness and attitude come into the picture those are things that can be controlled. I wish to no longer travel with United again."

Further, we were then not allowed to disembark the aircraft until they were filled out despite being at the gate. Worst of all, nearly half the suitcases didn't make it to our destination. Half the passengers then had to fill out forms to make a claim. Even worse, this process alone took an unreasonably long amount of time. General logistical nightmare. Very poorly executed operation."

The carpet on the floor was totally run down and soiled as well. Grow up Air India. It's about time."

I've been in this situation before with other airlines and I was ALWAYS taken care of. I am a young girl and I don't have much money after spending it ALL on MULTIPLE flights home. I travel often and I can take care of myself, but this was a stressful and frightening experience. If it weren't for family I wouldn't be home. Will be fighting for every penny owed to me and everyone who helped me get home."

Took 6 hours to find out they had some sort of cart in the back that you could visit for drinks. No diet soda at all, and the soda I did get came in a dirty can. It looked like it was covered in dirt or clay, or something that resembled rust. Will not fly again unless absolutely necessary. The only positive aspect was the star alliance affiliation so I could get my miles to my account."

My seat was broken and the leg rest would not retract which really restricted my comfort. The food was shocking, we did not receive any hot food for around 6-8 hours into the flight. Only got offered and Indian pastry and peanuts within the first 6-8 hours. For a 17 hour flight the food was not acceptable plus the choices were very limited. We did not get offered any alcoholic beverages & the staff were not very helpful I felt & the toilets were not kept clean or tidy at all throughout the flight. Overall not good!!! Would not fly agin with them. Lastly... I am Star Alliance Gold member and was misadvised at check in regarding upgrading."
