There was the changing of shifts for ground & cleaning etc. No ticket booths. Put passport in kiosk,it said basically no. Finally a ticket agent showed up. She tried my passport ,and nothing. Checked threw the computer & it said leaving out of domestic. Go down to the end of the hall, can check in there. It's Qantas alright, not open till 7:00. Start to panic a bit. Stopped someone and asked. They told me I was at the wrong terminal! Get to other, check in. Ask if I have to collect luggage and customs at LAX. No goes right threw. Wrong. Waited for cases at LAX. Have to collect & go threw customs. No cases, lost in Melbourne. Then I was ignored."

Meanwhile as we boarded nearly every passenger had an overhead bag that most certainly weighed more than 15lbs. Not sure what was going on there...also the seats are a little tight when reclined. Once the seat in front of me reclined back I had my knees in the back of the chair the entire flight and I am not a particularly tall person- made for a pretty uncomfortable 15hrs."

Cons: "Flight delayed. The made boarded passengers disembark and wait for an unpredictable amount of time with no updates. Then finally we boarded then the service was very poor. For example they did not remove the dishes for about three hours after serving dinner. The last straw was that they diverted to Sydney instead of the final destination Melbourne as the crew was going over 20 hrs. With the diversion they saved about 45 min , but the exhausted passengers lost another 3 hrs in their already miserable flight. Also quantas NOT friendly for people traveling with kids.... BEWARE."

Cons: "They let us know by email little before departure that there would be a delay of 1h 15 min in our arrival to London. This made me uneasy from the very beginning that I would lose my London-Luxembourg flight. The crew in the boarding gate, only after much insisting, said they would make a note so that someone from Qantas would wait for me and help me get my London-Luxembourg flight no problem, but in the next stopovers (Melbourne, Dubai), there was no sign of this. Also, the delay in the end was 2h 20 min - and I lost my flight to Luxembourg."

Cons: "Why do they use QF flight number between Hobart and Sydney/Melbourne when it is operated by JETStar? As a customer I naturally expect I can get the same service from JETStar as Qantas.However I had to check out my heavy luggage at Sydney Airport, get a shuttle bus paying money and check in again at JETStar. The JETStar staff at the airport was not helpful at all! On the contrary she BLUNTLY told me JETStar is a different company from QANTAS. That's all. At Hobart Airport I was BLUNTLY told again I had to get my luggage at Melbourne Airport and check in again because they didn't have facility to forward the luggage to Qantas. I understand Qantas and JETStar are allied airlines and so they should give the same service as any other allied airlines. I need good explanation about these poor service from JETStar and Qantas. Thank you ."

Cons: "seats were abysmal for a 15hr flight. These are similar to the intolerable seats and spacing for domestic (US) flights on legacy carriers (although, American is now radically changing seat dimensions and comfort on the 737-800). For a 6hr flight, it is not tolerable. For a 15hr non-stop flight, it is punishing. The Quantas A380-200 is no longer a new plane. The seat hardware is tired, lumpy, stiff, back-breaking. This could be improved by more space per seat, but it is not. I am 6'3" (189cm) and not at all fat (75kg), but the amount of seating space was tight. Again, this is an inconvenience for a short flight, and absolutely punishing on a long, 15hr, flight. It was not a cheap flight, and surely some updated seats can be put in, with fewer rows. By contrast, I flew back to US on Air New Zealand, and was entirely comfortable on a 12hr leg on very modern and spacious seats in the lowest economy class seat, on a 777 plane for a much cheaper fare."

I tried to upgrade to business class but the qantas website kept giving me an account creation error message and would allow me to create it. When I got to the airport and asked the attendant he said it was too late to do it in person and I should have done it the day before. He was actually very nice, but it was frustrating that I tried to do it as far as a week early but was not able to because the website. I was still comfortable in the seat I was in but would have felt better if I even had a chance at upgrading."

They offered her a hot chocolate.... so kind and helped immensely. We were very impressed and will look to fly internationally with Virgin AU."

Pros: "Virgin Australia’s staff is some of the most friendly and professional staff I’ve flown with. They go above and beyond to be hospitable. Also, this particular flight was an evening flight and they even had complimentary snacks- not just peanuts but actual crackers and cheese. There was a small delay in the beginning due to crew having to come from another late aircraft but they handled it very professionally and despite starting late, still got us to our destination ahead of schedule."

Pros: "We paid for Premium Seating- not quite Business Class, but supposedly like Business on a domestic flight. Boarding was great, right after business. We had problems with my seating, but the crew did everything they could to amend the issues. The crew was wonderful and really took great care of us."
Cons: "Right away we found out my chair was broken, and couldn't recline. Also, we had been placed in the first row of Premium and there are no automatic footrests. The crew has to bring those out. But there weren't any on board the plane at all. And since I'm only 5'2" tall, my feet don't reach the floor, causing blood circulation to be cut off in my legs from the pressure of hanging on the seat. No recline for 12+ hours, and no foot rest = a lot of pain and discomfort. I've been to the doctor twice since arriving home and am still in pain."

But after we booked we realized a third-party website – Webjet- would be handling our tickets which resulted in many problems. We ended up needing to change our itinerary in a simple way that would’ve been easy to do through the airline but webjet would not accommodate without spending $2500 in ticket fees. To avoid that we had to book additional tickets and take an additional flight that ended up being cheaper but quite the hassle that took way longer"

This is the second time in 2 months this flight has been delayed."

Bull. Many other passengers had plenty of larger and heavier baggage of which I pointed out. Matthew (at the gate) mentioned it didn't matter, because I was the one being selected, (in other words, I was the one that looked most like a tourist). I had a very light LV carry on duffle bag. People were carrying rolling luggage.... While the payment didn't bother me, what bothered me was the fact of having to put my luggage understand. Seats in plane were ridiculously uncomfortable. Unlike anything else."

Cons: "God this was an awful experience. They substituted a small plane for the big plane and bumped 100 people to a later flight with a connection thru an intermediate city, leaving 3 hours later. But that flight got delayed 2 hours so we would have missed our connection anyway and not gotten to our destination until 30 hours later. We spent most of the day standing in incredibly slow lines mislabelled Customer Service. It was nothing of the kind. The whole experience felt like being abused."

Pros: "Having flown budget airlines in several different countries it is well accepted that you get what you pay for. Jetstar is definitely a cheap, no frills flight but the seats are comfortable, the carry-on baggage allowance reasonable, and the extras not entirely outrageous. When needing to be budget conscious and able to travel light, this is definitely a good option."

Pros: "The flight was on time and reasonably comfortable, partly because it was a short flight. No real problems. I was afraid that it may have been a mistake booking a cut-rate airline because of horrible experiences with such airlines in the USA (Allegiant, Spirit), but Jetstar is better than those airlines."
Cons: "Luggage policy is awful. Southwest Airlines has great luggage policies, and sets the standard every other airline should try to match."

Cons: "the staff were not very polite and the food was average i just also flew to hobart and the staff again very not polite i think they all need a crash course with customer service. they said feel free to move around the cabin well we were told to sit down which i didnt cause i wanted to move around we then were going to sit down and someones jackets took 3 seats and wernt allowed to sit the re cause of the jacket dont they have a storage where jackets go into."

Got the "policy" bit as well.How about this,"It's our policy to bend you over every way we can and there is nothing you can do about it." Why not a policy of doing good, doing right, treating others the way you would like to be treated. I know your profits won't be as large, but it may be worth it."

Cons: "Kayak needs to do a much better job making it clear that luggage needs to be purchased up front. I realize now that it is in the fine print, but I did not know that no checked bags came with this flight. The cost was not just high, it was obscene ($670 for two bags!). That was just slightly less than the cost of the entire flight for both of us. I will never fly Jetstar again. This was absolutely ridiculous. It is also a very compelling story, which I am sharing with everyone that I know. Please find a way to make this right so that the conclusion of the story can be how Kayak is a good company for fixing this."

Cons: "The web site says that all JQ flight purchased after July 15 2015 include a checked bag with up to 20Kg, however when I checked in they charged me $110 (4,000 Baht) for the bag and did not want to even discuss it."

Pros: "Check-in crew were friendly. I think they try to do the best with the hand they are dealt. I feel sorry for them. Advice to them... Look for another job where the employer gives you the proper tools to fairly treat the customers."
Cons: "VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. JetStar is just like a big leech... just sucking money from their hosts (customers) every which way possible. Our plane was in really poor condition as well (interior); seat worn out, seat pocket torn so could not be used, seat space is sooo small you might as well be in a sardine can. I thought it very appropriate at the Christchurch airport that they pipe the sound of sheep bleating as you plane and deplane; I felt about equal treatment as herding sheep. Never again JetStar. Awfull!"

The boarding agent was nice and let us board earlier.The Inflight staff was pleasant.I had an issue with my son's entertainment. It was not working. The prongs from a previous flight was stuck inside the holes for the ear phones. The inflight staff offered a snack for my son up to $10 which was the equal to the amount I paid for entertainment. I had paid for everything in advance,check in baggage , seat assignments,food, comfort pack,and entertainment round trip. I wanted my boys and myself to be comfortable for the 11 hour flight. Cons: "Howzit, My experience from Melbourne to Honolulu was exhausting.I could not sleep.These are my reasons why: 1) Our flight was delayed from a 5pm to 9:55pm, then finally to a 11:55pm.departure. I had to check in after 2pm. because I had to return my rental car at 2pm. I went thru a 3rd party and I was unable to extend my rental car return to a later time. We were given refreshment vouchers at check in. 2) By the time we boarded we were extremely exhausted,thirsty,and hungry for we have been at the airport for 9 hours with only three $15 refreshment vouchers. 3) Then, after the meal service my son vomited because he said his child meal, a pasta dish, tasted bad like it was old or spoiled. He said it didn't taste fresh. The inflight staff was pleasant and helped me clean up with serviettes. Then, the inflight staff reseated the passengers in a row right in front of us to other seats ,because of the vomit odor was unpleasant, and so my son can lay down to sleep,because he was feeling very ill from the food. My overall experience from Melbourne to Honolulu was exhausting because I could not sleep. My son was ill most of the flight from food poisoning from spoiled food he had eaten. Aloha, Irene"
