Multiple errors by Turkish airlines and Istanbul Airport kept us from making flight. Stuck in Istanbul!
The airplane from IAD to Istanbul was too old. The chairs were to tight and uncomfortable. I continued my travel from Istanbul to Bangkok. This airplane was better and newer than the first one. Even food was better.
they were much nicer on this flight. however, my baggage was delayed by one day, and one of my suitcases arrived broken.
I requested a special meal (kosher) several months ahead of the flight . It was listed on the Turkish air website that I had a kosher meal. In-flight, there was no kosher meal. I was not able to eat during the nearly 8-hour flight. There also was no kosher meal on the second leg of the trip. The flight attendants said there was nothing they could do. They had no idea why the kosher meal was not provided. Very bad meal service.
0ur assigned seats were given to other individuals when we boarded the plane. We were given new boarding passes with new seats all the way at the back of the plane. The reason given to us was that there were issues with the seats. We found out that there were no issues, and someone else's were seated on those.
Turkish had extra security but didn’t feel intrusive, just an extra level of care for us. Checkin was fast, immigration outward went well. They lengthened our flight time from 6 to 7 hours to avoid flying over Sudan. Food as a vegan was fine as requested.
I had connection flight. I barely made it to the next flight. I had to run to get to the next flight which was far away from where my first flight was landed . On top of that they search my stuff before boarding that added to the time. Food was ok but they forgot to serve our row with drink and also when it was our turn, they ran out of second option for food and we didn’t have any options for food.
35 minutes before the flight was about to land on Mumbai, I wanted to use the restroom. The flight attendant rudely shouted that I cannot use. I guess Turkish Airlines doesn't care about the customers, once they get the money.
Overall very comfortable experience. I had requested vegan food but the only option was a sandwich with vegetables and cheese. I removed the cheese and ate the sandwich ( tasted pretty good) but wish it was offered without cheese.
