HKG has a lot of great (albeit expensive) restaurants, but by 10pm, your options become just McDonald's and the noodle place next to McDonald's.

There is no section by section boarding, except for people needing extra time, or first class. So I advise you to line up right away. It's a bit confusing at first, but just line up when they start boarding, no matter what your seat is, or you'll be last in line!
Verified travelerFlew with Cathay PacificHKG-SFOSept 2024
Get there earlier if you are a transit passenger, there are stores and restaurants but we flew in almost midnight and most stores were closed. Be your own advocate and look around what other passengers are doing!
Verified travelerFlew with United AirlinesHKG-SFOSept 2024
Double check your boarding information in airport in time, like boarding gate, or boarding time, etc. because they might be updated.
Verified travelerFlew with Cathay PacificHKG-ICNSept 2024
Check the gate number carefully because there are multiple flights to the same destination.

Hong Kong was a good connecting flight airport (though you need to dump all liquids between connecting flights as you need to go through a security checkpoint, which is a pain). Boarding was a bit painful due to disorganization (everyone rushing to board at once), not many power outlets near our gate worked, and airplane bathrooms were a mess by halfway through the flight.
BarryFlew with British AirwaysHKG-LHRJuly 2024
Check if there are seats at the rear configured as 2-4-2. The extra space on the aisle is very good to have.
JeffFlew with Cathay PacificHKG-MNLJune 2024
signage could be better in locating transfer departure gate when you are coming off of a transiting flight. Airport has lots of amenities
WilsonFlew with Greater Bay AirlinesHKG-ICNJuly 2024
No carry on’s! All must be checked if its over 7kg in weight. Do not use if you are strictly a carryon type of person. Also they are going to charge you for it!
GordonFlew with VistaraHKG-DELMar 2024
The Hong Kong airport facility is exceptionally good. Transfer to connecting flight with automaton for passport checking was quick and painless. Airport facility was state of the art, clean lots of electronics plugs for recharging stations every where.

Check in process at the kiosk, crew in flight and overall comfort was good. Food selection could have been better. Flight from Hong Kong to Los Angeles did not have any vegetarian main course option, it was either sea food or chicken. Being a vegetarian I could only eat yogurt and fruit. Most international flights have one vegetarian main course dish which I found missing in Cathay Pacific menu.

Great. Efficient boarding process with the face recognition. Plenty of cabin space for luggage.

As before, my only problem was not being able to download my boarding passes prior to arrival at the airport. Everything else was perfect.

Better. I took an aisle seat this time. Although the overheard compartment above the seat ahead of me kept opening up during flight.

If I had blood clots, that window seat would've killed me for certain.

They ran out of food and were offering random food to passengers.

The food and service was great. You have to pay a lot for in flight Internet though which is lame.

Special request meals are really below average. Vegetarian options are very limited if you didn't prebook.

I have a Peanut Allergy and the Steward staff were very accommodating in ensuring my safety as my allergy is life threatening. Very professional and so vested in their profession.

The flight was delayed for 30 mins. The overall experience was good.

Poor! This flight was delayed 14 hours. There was no assistance in helping customers find other routes to their destination, nor any other kind of support. It was a chaotic experience. I'm not likely to fly with AA going forward.

Airline running better than post Covid, proper boarding process now implemented, some aircraft feeling a bit old and tired, crew fine, online experience better.

I tried to check in online but was unable to do so. I stood in line for nearly two hours to check in. American Airlines was understaffed. When I finally got to the kiosk to check in, I was still unable to check in. No AA staff was available to help. Finally one of the airport security agents who was helping passengers became of lack of AA Staff told me: “I think the reason you can’t check in is that you are starting your name with an upper case letter when you write it. Just write it with all lower case letters.” That did allow me to check in. HOW COULD ANYONE POSSIBLY KNOW THAT IF THEY USE AN INITIAL UPPER CASE LETTER TO SPELL THEIR OWN NAME, AA WOULD NOT ALLOW THEM TO CHECK IN?????? Then I had to wait in line over half an hour again to drop off my baggage. Although I arrived at the airport 3 hours early, by the time I got to the gate, they had already started boarding.

One of the oldest most uncomfortable "lay down" seats I've ever experienced. Old plane and old seats that don't lay flat. The seat back does not even recline - at all. Instead the legrest awkwardly extends to fill the gap between a small cubby into which you must insert your feet/legs. I am 5' 11" and could not lay straight but had to tuck my knees. Ticket was also very expensive. Would not recommend flying business/first on Finair from Melbourne to Bangkok and will not do so again myself.

Traditional economy class. Not a full flight so spare seats. Food and drinks were good

Loved the staff. The economy seats could have been bigger.

Airport and crew experience was excellent. We had to queue for the runway - no one’s fault, but it did mean we were 30 minutes late leaving

Overall good experience with flight and airport wheelchair staff. Also got Indian food in the flights

Friendly staff, surprisingly good premium economy seats allowing good sleep/ snooze opportunity and very good menu.

I liked the service, the menu, and the comfort of the seats! Even tho we were seated by the bathrooms, the reclining seats and movie selection was very good, my husband and I didn’t mind at all

Captain smooth landing, Crew efficient and helpful. We saw Mt Fuji from the plane. Thanks.

On time and smooth flight from San Juan direct to Sint Maarten.

Just to be expected on a budget airline. Since all the flights were either late on the evening it would help to offer some food for purchase Since you tourists cannot buy decent food withoit local vaccination record in hong Kong this would really to help Using phone to submit electronic data is great but for the elderly this is a hassle

Flight cancelled without notidication, had to book an emergency replacement flight at the counter

could not book seats or checkin thru the app when tickets were bought thru orbitz

On-time takeoff and arrival Cabin crew very helpful, especially the crew manager (I think) (young gentleman with glass)

I cannot check in online , and not able to select my seat

Watch for "bait and switch" - cheap prices, but not obvious at all at point of purchase that there will be an undisclosed charge for baggage - and less obvious that you will have to purchase baggage at an eye-watering level. Better still, if you go this airline, leave your gear behind and buy a complete wardrobe when you arrive in country and still be ahead. The staff were very pleasant, both at counter staff level - they were clearly unnerved by having to charge - and on board.

No entertainment service which equates them with budget airlines. But their fare are regular airline fares. Aircraft are old and seats are worn.

The crews at check in counter are not professional, they are talking and playing around. Also no entertainment on the plane

2 failed landing attemps before going to Nagoya airport for refueling. After 3 hours of taxiing, we still needed 3 attemps before a succeeded landing (after the 5th attempt finally!). In total, 11 hours inside the plane instead of 4h30, and with only a crappy piece of bread to feed us. A shame.
