The crew in the boarding gate, only after much insisting, said they would make a note so that someone from Qantas would wait for me and help me get my London-Luxembourg flight no problem, but in the next stopovers (Melbourne, Dubai), there was no sign of this. Also, the delay in the end was 2h 20 min - and I lost my flight to Luxembourg."

The announcements couldn't be understood, the speakers crackled so much and the stewardesses spoke in very heavy accents. There was still debris from the previous flight in the seat holders. The entry into the plane smelt unfresh . The TV. Programming was limited and often did not work. Overall it was a flight that lacked international standards. The final flight to cape Town was excellent. I was going to write you a letter. We are capable of much higher standards and I felt ashamed. The international flight to Perth was better but the flight back from Perth was not good. Every flight should be welcoming and helpful. The attitude and involvement of flight crew makes or breaks the journey even if the craft is old and not perfect With regards eva young and trusting that this review canbe of help."

Cons: "My husband and I are seniors, luckily we exercise daily, because we were told to take the stairs down to the airplane and had to walk to the plane in the rain and then walk up the stairs to the plane. When we boarded we actually should have gone through the plane as our seats were closer to the front. The stewardess should have used common sense and directed everyone through the plane, there was absolutely no reason to send people through the rain."
Cons: "Flight cancelled, then booked by Virgin without consultation, onto a flight via Sydney that would take 6 1/2 hrs to get there, had to request another flight but still lost most of the day of my holiday, plus left with many phone calls re change of rental car, arrival , parking bookings, and no compensation and then stress when I got to the airport and was told that despite being "booked " on the much later flight, now I might not actually have a seat. I had to wait while attendant at counter tried to find seats and only watch as they were taken by someone else several times. So unnecessarily stressful and misleading. Lost my original seats, had to sit separate from my companion, and no real concern by Virgin about their impact on customers' plans. Last time I flew, the plane was cancelled, and we had to wait hours for another one in the terminal, so I missed the body corporate meeting that was the ONLY reason I was flying to Brisbane, paying for overnight accommodation and car rental and flight and I MISSED it. Huge cost for NOTHING, as despite driving straight to the meeting, it was just finishing. Whilst at the airport trying to fly home, I heard another Virgin flight cancelled , again due to "unscheduled maintenance". Seems that maintenance and mechanical problems are common and way more common than they should be. So that is a big worry!"

Cons: "Ended up on a Jetstar flight on a codeshare arrangement with our booked airline Qantas. The journey didn’t start well when our bags would not scan through the self serve checkin as we had not booked direct with Jetstar. We then asked for an aisle seat, but this was refused - the “customer service” assistant advised we should have paid extra to pre-reserve a seat (a no cost option on Qantas). Then when we entered the plane we found that both adjacent aisle seats were in fact vacant. Food was an additional cost item - on an 8 hour flight. Those unlucky enough to ask for a meal late found that there was nothing left for them. Entertainment was also an additional cost item - when paid for the selection was extremely limited, the system slow. The entertainment froze up requiring a reboot. Though not the airline’s fault, the person behind was very fidgety, making it very uncomfortable for anyone sitting in front of him. If the seats were slightly further apart we might not have had that experience either. All in all not the best, given that we had booked with a full price airline and ended up on a budget airline instead."

Cons: "I didn't check in my bag, didn't bother to weigh it. They weighed it at boarding and it was too heavy (my bad, I probably should have checked) and had to be checked in. My gripe is that they made me pay $60 even though my ticket included a free piece of luggage. Their argument was that I didn't use that facility at check-in and therefore waived the right to that piece of check baggage."

Cons: "They choose to weigh bags just as we were boarding and as I was 1kg , I had to check in my bag , but apparently it has to go on the next flight. So now I have to wait for 2.5 hers in Sydney for my bag and had to pay $50 for the inconvenience. I would expect this from Tiger not Jetstar"

Cons: "Shame the staff were not more friendly, I took my rubbish to find a bin and the flight attendant expressed her annoyance and me. Asking her where I can put it. They don't smile and when you asked a question they treated me like I was a nuisance"
Cons: "9 hour flight with no meals or beverages or snacks of any kind. Had to pay for entertainment and Still had a service interruption for 30 mins. Power port did not work. Bumpy flight and seatbelt icon was never illuminated. Charged 160 per bag at the airport (unbelievable!). Filthy touch screen and food tray. Jet star claimed to 'help children with every flight' however the company donated nothing, they just went around to collect even more money from passengers. Worst flight ever. Will be calling customer service for a service recovery."

Cons: "Because we didn't guess how many bags we would have when we bought the tickets, or how heavy they would be, we had to pay an excess baggage fee of almost $500 for two bags (20 kg and 22 kg) at the airport. I can see getting a discount for paying for baggage fees ahead of time, but such a high "excess fee" when they are your first bags seem ridiculous. And being charged $4 for a bottle of water on a 9 hour flight?? I have never flown with an airline with such absurd fees and never will again."
