For both of these airlines, you can use the drop-off zone on Level 2 of the forecourt for terminals 1, 2 and 3. Both drop-off zones can be accessed by following the appropriate signs on Departure Drive.

That said the ground crew are there to help, but read the signs and don't get cranky if you hey sent back to do what you're meant to. On board, the cheese and cracker snack pack I got was great, nice to see complimentary snacks and drinks being maintained. Onboatd wifi via the app worked well and was actually able to use inflight entertainment on hand held device online the Sydney to Melbourne leg"

Cons: "My husband and I are seniors, luckily we exercise daily, because we were told to take the stairs down to the airplane and had to walk to the plane in the rain and then walk up the stairs to the plane. When we boarded we actually should have gone through the plane as our seats were closer to the front. The stewardess should have used common sense and directed everyone through the plane, there was absolutely no reason to send people through the rain."
Pros: "Departure lounge isn’t a 5 km hike from the street! Plane seems to have more leg room, onboard snack. Generally an easier package"
Cons: "Can’t think of a single thing!"
Cons: "I didn't like seeing the build up of food and small rubbish in the seat tracks in front of me on both trips, there and back. It was revolting. Clearly the company vacuuming the carpet doesn't bother doing the job properly and doesn't take the time to look from the window seat position. Shocking indeed."

Pros: "Every thing was smooth from check in to boarding. Flight on time. Crew were attentive."
Pros: "Economy X is fantastic, and really enjoy the boarding experience and the crew. left on time and arrived early. Excellent trip in that regard."
Cons: "Almost every time I travel on virgin, which is a lot. They serve a minim muesli bar. Come on Virgin what about changing that a bit. Qantas offer some really good options for not much more of a ticket price. This part of the Virgin Experience needs to change."

Cons: "way too noisy from the engines--was very draining horrible space in economy--jammed packed like cattle-this alone may cause me not to fly you again"

Pros: "everything was great, more movie options would be better"

Especially from Christchurch to Melbourne with chief stewardess Catherine. She was rude and arrogant. The Staff did nothing for the travelers. They laughed loudly in their cabin and disturbed."

Cons: "Flight to go on time"
Pros: "The flight was during very bad weather and the pilots did a great job of keeping us informed and feeling safe."
Cons: "Due to the weather snacks were handed out but no water. Water used to be provided in single serves. As it is now poured into cups it was not provided on the flight. This seems like cost saving that is unacceptable to customers paying the same price with no access to a drink on the flight."
Pros: "The service was good even for such a short flight (20 mins)"
Cons: "Was an old aircraft so the interior could do with updating"
Pros: "The sense of really flying!"

Cons: "Leg room a little tight."
Pros: "25 minute flight, no need for in flight entertainment."

Pros: "Crew were pleasant"
Cons: "Jetstar terminal has a lack of seating"
Pros: "Cheaper flight option"
Cons: "Multiple delays; I moved to a new seat to accommodate an exit row request with with no benefit; no snacks or entertainment"
Pros: "We enjoyed our low cost flight with Jetstar. Check in was quick and easy. Boarding was also. We didn't purchase any food or entertainment which is why I gave each of those categories 1 star (there's no N/A or doesn't apply-type option)."
Cons: "Seats on Jetstar are a bit uncomfortable but for a short flight, it doesn't matter as much. Also, the luggage went to the wrong carousel for many folks on our flight."
Pros: "quick flight, polite staff"
Pros: "Everything went well and was as advertised. This is a low cost carrier so their business model relies on extra charges for everything. Prepaid my luggage for $19 each way and decided not to order any food (much cheaper at the airport anyway). People just have to be aware that low cost carriers like Jetstar can offer such affordable fares by excluding many things. Qantas would have been approximately 2x as expensive per flight and would have included more things, but the appeal of low cost is to be able to choose what you need."
Cons: "We had a tight connection and the flight crew could care less about if we made it off the flight in a quick and efficient manner."
Pros: "Flight was good."
Cons: "Check is cthe confusing. First you cannot check in online. It was a domestic flight but check in was in international terminal. The lines were confusing and we had to change lines because of the confusion. There was no one to answer your querstions. I had to interrupt an check in person who was helping someone else so not to be late for flight."
Pros: "Ease of checkin and baggage drop"
Cons: "Lack of clarity in Cost of ticket, which assessed baggage charge after ticket purchase"
Pros: "Boarding was pretty easy and the crew was fine. Overhead compartment was easy to use and spacious. Enough space under the seat in front of me for my laptop."
Cons: "Seats remarkably uncomfortable and the entertainment was non existent. No free beverages or snacks."
Pros: "Charges for more than 7kg for carryon (all combined carryon)! Geez, the bag weighs 3-4 kg empty and the charge is exorbitant! Where’s the focus on customers first? Prefer Qantas and will stick with them in the future. My first and only Jetstar experience was a 2"
Cons: "See above"
Pros: "Friendliness of the staff."
Cons: "Lateness of flight"
Pros: "Great staff"
Cons: "Delayed departure"
Cons: "Flight got delayed and charged luggage by weight"
Cons: "Too much headache for buying kg for lugguage, snack and food online ahead"
Pros: "I did not use the footer entertainment"
Pros: "because I fly a lot in the US, I actually thought there was more space on the planes than we usually have here. I also don't mind not having food for free since we don't usually either. beverages would be nice, but since we were able to bring our own through security in Australia, it didn't bother me. Compared to most airlines in the US, it was great. Much more efficient as well. Even though we had to pay extra for luggage, there was tiered pricing by weight and it was still cheaper than most carriers in the US."
Pros: "Flight is cheaper than other airlines"
Cons: "Never be on time"
Cons: "Lack of legroom."
Pros: "Smooth flight, easy interstate flight with no hassle."
Cons: "Jetstar boarding pass system is very silly. You can't use the email ones on your phone and have to actually print it out. As a suggestion.. maybe have a unified option instead? Charging sms service is ridiculous.. it is 2017!"
Cons: "Check in and payment for baggage was confusing and not well organized."
Cons: "They choose to weigh bags just as we were boarding and as I was 1kg , I had to check in my bag , but apparently it has to go on the next flight. So now I have to wait for 2.5 hers in Sydney for my bag and had to pay $50 for the inconvenience. I would expect this from Tiger not Jetstar"
Pros: "Speed of flight time and being advised of our delay"
Cons: "Cramped boarding gate and slow boarding via Tarmac. Food and inflight drinks too expensive."
Cons: "Legroom was really tight"
Cons: "Return journey of our flight was moved so disrupted our onward flights. Getting in touch with customer services was impossible. Only way is to 'live chat' then they tell you their hands are tied and to speak to the 'refunds team' who don't have a number and will 'be in touch with you'. They won't be. Then outbound flight was cancelled at the last minute. Waiting for a refund........and waiting. If it's a choice between jet star or swimming to your next destination, swim."
Pros: "quick boarding"
Cons: "there was an hour delay and we were not really told the reason."
Cons: "Boarding on tarmac in the rain, no cover over walkway. Smallest and tightest seating in the airline business."
Pros: "Normally I like you..."
Cons: "However, I was unable to check-in multiple times on my phone and online for unknown reasons. Upon checking in person, they said I was at the wrong gate terminal and in fact I was 4km away from the international terminal where your flight was located (fascinating, why use the INTERNATIONAL terminal?) I was therefore unable to make my flight, according to the assistant, and had to book a new flight. Disappointing."
Pros: "Due to storms a 1 1/2 hour delay which is understandable until I found a friend on Qantas left on time. Delay on all Jetstar to Sydney and that afternoon but unaccountably Qantas mostly in time."
Pros: "This flight was a breeze. Check-in was simple and the crew was helpful and friendly."
Pros: "The smooth takeoff and landing, the staff cortesies"
Cons: "The 5min wait but perfect otherwise"
Cons: "App didn't ask for baggage and then got charged 170 dollars to check bags. Worst airline that I have flown."
Pros: "Flight was very easy, on time, no thrills just get on the plane and go. Easier and cheaper than US domestic flights."
Cons: "not even offer water for customers"
Pros: "Inexpensive flight with many departure times"
Cons: "The flight was just under an hour and a half. It felt like the intercom was running constantly. They were selling raffle tickets for a car, they were selling snacks, they were asking for donations to a charity. The constant intercom communications were very frustrating. There is also a hidden $50 fee per checked bag with a limit of 15Kg. After that there is a charge for every kilogram over 15. We ended up paying $220 in baggage fees. It would have been cheaper to buy two more seats and buckle our luggage in."
Pros: "cancelled our flight"
Cons: "plane was half hour late leaving because JetStar does not allow enough time for turn arounds from plane arriving from elsewhere. That said, the pilot did do his best to catch up for lost time once in the air."
Pros: "Customer service for the return flight"
Cons: "Flight delayed due to mechanical problems. Headrests aren't comfortable No food or entertainment Surprise fees for baggage with ridiculous carryon allowance (7kg)"
Pros: "the seats, even in economy plus, do not go back!"
Pros: "Crew were friendly and cheerful."
Cons: "Crew were not aware I had a starter plus package which included a food voucher. This often happens with Jetstar and is annoying when you have paid for the extras. Also flight was delayed and I had to make a connecting flight. Would have been good if crew ensured people did not straggle when boarding with the appropriate announcements."
Pros: "On time service and friendly flight attendants"
Cons: "No complimentary beverage service"
Pros: "The plane is reasonably comfortable The tickets were cheap"
Cons: "Boarded late and the signs lied to the passengers saying the gate is closing Long walk to the boarding gate and no powerpoints in the gate Food is overpriced and mediocre"
Cons: "flight was canceled"
Pros: "The staff were very good."
Cons: "I booked a seat and did not get the seat l had booked."
Cons: "You wanted to charge me for a bottled water? Seriously, felt that was a bit odd. But overall nice plane, smooth flight! Can't complain!"
Cons: "We were stuck on the tarmac for 3 hours and there was no attempt to make us passengers comfortable during that time. Poor service."
