There was difficulty with my connecting flight due to inconsistent COVID regulations. I was almost not allowed on, despite fulfilling all my requirements for my destination country. I was over-billed by Alaska Airlines for my luggage as well.

A to Z on this flight was just great!

Rating low to the crew mainly because of the ground staff as they were not very communicative to begin with about the explanation for our delay. Only when the passengers got a bit more vocal about wanting explanations, they started giving us a bit more information. All estimated times given for boarding the flight were incorrect by a big margin! Seemed more like they were giving shorter wait time for boarding just to please the passengers, where as they were well aware of how long the wait would be."

We were told to keep our seats upright during meal times and to keeo our window shutters down during other times. This made sense. But there were passengers right in front of us who had their seats reclined during meal time and the crew did not tell them anything."

Seat width better than A380 and also less tomb like when reclined to nearly flat bed."

Cons: "Qantas left our luggage in Sydney. Once we were in Koh Samui it was up to Bangkok Airways to sort it out. The file reference we were given wasn't recognised by the Qantas website, the three phone numbers in Bangkok just gave a 'number disconnected' message and one was no answer. We had to cancel a planned event on day two and shop for clothes for a specific activity on day three. The only way to make contact with Qantas was via Instagram, Luggage did appear but so far no contact or apology from Qantas. We will not fly with Qantas again. Virgin Australia is our carrier of choice who outperform Qantas in every respect. This flight was gifted so we had no choice."

Cons: "American Airlines cancelled a flight because of ‘weather’ from Msy to dfw, all other flights from Msy to Dallas operated on time but were sold out. We were re booked flying through San Francisco, missing out on flying on qantas, which is what I had paid for since they are a premium airline. We were booked on virgin America and then United for the international flight. United charged us each for 2 bags totalling $150 each, despite we booked a ticket with qantas which allows 2 bags each. Virgin America honoured our 2 bags, but united refused to. United also has service and aircraft which do not match the levels of qantas which I has specifically sought out. I could not eat some of the food because of the poor quality, and this is something I’ve never done before on an international flight. Additionally their were a lack of amenities on both flights, and no food vouchers despite our travel delay of over 5 hours. This whole ordeal has cost me money, worktime, and created a lot of stress to where I have had to cancel meeting on my arrival in Sydney."

JetStar either needs to replace those staff are double if not triple the help at the service desk."

On our return trip, at which time we merely had a layover in VietNam on our way to Singapore, they required us to buy another entrance visa. Because we only had less than 3 hours before our next flight left, they "provided" the service for us - to the tune of $180 for each person!!! Meanwhile, a likewise-stranded passenger from Australia apparently did not have to purchase another single-entry visa. We felt totally ripped off."
Cons: "The customer service during our check in was terrible. We were shuffled around through different lines for Check in and baggage drop. We asked one lady at rhe counter if we needed to tag our carry ons and she said no. As we got to security, a rude lady walked us back to the counter to weigh each and every item we had, including our purses. Since we were over the limit, we were told to pay $60 for an additional check in and we couldnt pay the online price. We told the manager we checked in way before the 2 hours about the lady we asked regarding our bags. She even confirmed but insisted we still couldnt pay the online price. Each person we approached had a terrible attitude and wasnt willing to help. If we knew about the carry on bags, we wouldve purchased it online before the 2 hour cut off time."
Cons: "Their 7kg TOTAL allowance for bags is RIDICULOUS. Only airline I have traveled with that enforces this so unfairly on a flight that wasn't even as low cost as they advertised. Not even the cheapest european airlines like Ryanair or the asian ones like Airasia become so pushy on this. I was forced to pay $40 for a carry on bag because of an annoying security officer who didn't even worked for Jetstar while I was going through security. What's the security risk there? On top of that to my surprise I saw people on my flight carrying 2 or more bags with evident overweight according to this unfair policy. So the rule is random and note applied evenly. Be careful if flying with them. Besides, the aircraft was cheap, uncomfortable and unpleasant."

Cons: "Flight cancelled because internet went down on site. However, Virgin Australia and Qantas airlines were able to paper book their passengers and fly to destination. Jet star couldn’t do the same. Even though the internet came back up Jetstar couldn’t complete the passenger flight check in. The Airport staff stated the internet was a risk and instead put 200 people on buses and drove us 5 hours across a 42C desert. Somehow driving across the desert was safer. The icing on the cake was the Internet stayed up for the next hour prior to our bus ride and within the flight crews crew day. So, we could all have flown home with the Jetstar flight crew who actually flew back to Sydney. Yes missed the fireworks and expensive hotel stay on New Years Eve. Finally, Jetstar rebooked is on a flight to Adelaide then to Sydney so we wouldn’t arrive until 945pm. I certainly didn’t appreciate my direct 3 hour flight being turned into a 5 hour bus ride then a 7 hour flight. Oh, please tell them thanks for the piece of cheese and two crackers, apple and apple juice for dinner. What could be done better.....eliminate Jetstar from your list of service providers. Secondly when I made the booking I not able to include luggage for some reason and when I went back to add luggage I was charged a crazy fee of $61 for 15kg which no other airline charges that way. Though jetstar is categorised as budget airline yet the price wasn't that different from normal airline and yet passengers loose all benefits. Even small requests like a change of seat was not entertained. When we purchase a certain luggage if at all we go excess by even 1kg we get overages but when we travel with less than the purchased luggage do we ask for any refund. I guess the true value of customer satisfaction has being lost and no one really cares. It not always due to price factors people choose budget airline but at times it because we fail to get seats on other flights."

Will be calling customer service for a service recovery."

I can see getting a discount for paying for baggage fees ahead of time, but such a high "excess fee" when they are your first bags seem ridiculous. And being charged $4 for a bottle of water on a 9 hour flight?? I have never flown with an airline with such absurd fees and never will again."

The allowance was also much less than on other airlines- traveling for 2 months made this a real surprise and made us shuffle things around at the counter. I liked that the Jetstar staff in Sydney helped me to get a room for the night, the hotel people were helpful and friendly, the shuttle bus drivers were helpful and friendly. I liked that Qantas helped me transfer my Jetstar cancelled flight to QF148, so I was able to fly Auck to SYD. I did like that Jetstar provided free in-flight entertainment to all passengers after the flight form SYD - DPS was dallied 3 hours on departure."

I didn't like that I lost a whole day of my holiday due to the flight cancellation, I missed my pick up transfer from DPS airport to my hotel in Ubud late at night, and I was not refunded my night's booked accomodation at my Ubud hotel. I didn't like that I had to go through immigration, pick up my baggage in SYD before I could get to the Jetstar counter to connect with my flight to DPS. because of this delay I missed my connecting flight. I did not like that My one day delayed connecting flight from SYD to DPS was delayed a further 3 hours departing from Sydney."
