I was looking to get a decent meal on my layover in Honolulu but instead I got a power walk workout in trying to catch my next flight. The food was pretty bad. No Baileys for my coffee? Bad Airline. So based on their decision, we were even further delayed and subsequently missed our connection in sydney. United has offered no compensation either for our change fee in sydney nor for the stress they added to our vacation - on a Christmas flight nonetheless!"

Cons: "The food is mediocre - everything has meat in it and they use tons of plastic. Also, the plane was late getting to the gate. This wouldn’t have been an issue had the pilot not decided to off board and then re onboard cargo (the commercial stuff they get paid to carry). This took about 20 minutes and then after the winds changed, he decided he could load more passengers. So despite having the doors locked and getting ready to leave the gate, they opened the doors up again and boarded more people for the next 40 minutes. So they chose to make a delayed flight even more delayed (on Christmas Eve). So we inevitably missed our connection in sydney and had to pay a change fee since it’s a different airline. Thanks for the Christmas gift United - you always know how to disappoint your passengers."

We were diverted to Newfoundland to refuel (after spending 3 hours sitting on the tarmac while the captain arranged to redirect). THEN... the flight crew had been working too long and they had to send another crew which took 4 extra hours. 17 hours from Lisbon to Newark is unacceptable! It could have all been avoided with a larger plane."

Pros: "There was some initial confusion on what gate we were at and when everyone could start boarding. Once that was cleared up boarding seemed to be pretty smooth. The crew mostly seemed friendly and helpful. It was nice to have the blankets and pillows on everyone’s chairs in case someone was cold. That way they didn’t have to wait for a flight attendant to get a blanket or pillow."

Cons: "That when I explained being hearing impaired the boarding attendant said my carry on needed to be checked. I didn't understand her and proceeded to the loading blank. Then when boarding the attendant informed me. I explained I checked my bag in the airport compartment tester and it was fine. I also asked the attendant at the counter. She confirmed it was fine. Still smiling until the snack pretzels were passed out. When I didn't hear the attendant's question, in spite of telling her I was hearing impaired, she threw her hand up rudely and just continued on to other customers. When boarding I watched orhers board with the same size bag as mine, and wondered if telling someone you can't hear gives them the right to inform you at the gate that your bag needs to be checked?"

We asked the Attendant and she said that row 15 was just ahead of the Escape seats and they don't recline. I felt like my head was being pushed forward the entire flight home... Most uncomfortable and we had the night flight... no sleep... too uncomfortable."
