Ran to get through customs, then airline rep said we might not make flight connection but to run...so we ran through two terminals, dropped baggage, ran through security to our gate...made it while flight still open...but...gate agent said Virgin had re-booked us already on flight 5 hours later and we no longer had seats on that flight. So two very serious questions that I have not yet gotten a satisfactory answer... 1) why were they allowed to re-book me without my consent? Every other situation, including changes to this itinerary in the past, I was told no changes could be made without my approval? 2) if they had already give away our confirmed seats, why in heavens did they tell us to run? At the airport I got a variety of answers that seemed to be pointing fingers since Sydney flight was Virgin Australia and LAX was Delta....despite codeshare seems these two companies do not work so seamlesslessly and one has no real idea what the other is doing....to the travelers detriment."

Customer service sucks

Instead of the flight attendants talking to each other they should have been monitoring the passengers. The person beside me took a phone call literally 30 seconds before the plane landed. As we were going down the runway ( from landing ) a person in the row in front of me and behind me made phone calls; CRAZY

We waited in line to check the bag, found out that since we hadn't paid for it ahead of time, we could get the bag checked but would need to go stand in a new line to pay for it and could not have the bag tag until this was done. Then the new line only had one agent working all of the people who needed to pay for their bags. When we got to the front, we were asked to pay the bag fee with a credit card and the processing fee in cash. Since we were only connecting in Singapore, of course we did not have cash. She could not process the charge, walked us over to a new desk and a new line where they processed the bag charge without the cash fee (how this wasn't done initially, I have no idea) and finally, we were finished with the check in process an hour later."

I understand keeping folks in check so they don’t bring big bulky items, and I get pushing the weight angle to drive sales, but taking the bag (after folks have paid for the “extra weight”) and putting it in the belly is excessive. As a male, I had no purse and all of my items were taken from me and I had to hope they made it to the other side (which they did, but it isn’t always the case). However, my wife was allowed to have two items (purse and carryon) as long as each were under the 7kilos and combined weren’t over 15 kilos. My bag was 14.4 kilos. Same weight being brought on and it’s just semantics and really kinda sexist against men if you think about it. Just sayin..."

Cons: "Ok so. With ticket purchase you only get a carry on bag in economy. To pay for a checked 15kg bag is $68, but only if you pay ahead of time. If you pay at the counter it will cost you $100. The woman at our gate was completely alone, and clearly frustrated by the situation and kept radio-ing for information about where the rest of her crew was. They are flying 787 Dreamliner now and just squeezing as many people as they can on them. I am a 5’10” female and my knees were hitting the seat in front of me. Want to recline your seat? Go ahead, but the bottom of the seat now slides forward as well to compensate for the lack of space. So if you’re tall like myself, you can’t recline your seat because it forces your knees further into the seat in front of you. Lastly, they have this ‘amazing entertainment service’. It’s $8 to watch a movie or play a game of solitaire. Such a scam. Water is the only drink included and the power outlet in my seat didn’t work. They are exactly what they have always been, but dressed up nicer, cheap and crappy airline looking to make as much money as possible. Won’t be flying with them again. For the money I paid to check a bag plus ticket cost, I could have flown a much nicer airline. will do next time!"

Kayak should tell you about these hidden fees upon booking as the fees were in the fine print AFTER booking and we simply did not read the fine print. Very disappointed in the lack of communication from Kayak. Entertainment cost an additional $10 and their choices were limited, food and drinks also cost $ on the plane."

When I booked my flight 5 months in advance, I didn't see the option of buying luggage (and also didn't think it mattered at the time because normal airlines like Delta, United, etc. charge the same rate no matter when you decide). Thank goodness I knew to buy luggage before getting to the airport but was still charge $60 AUD (when it would have only been $35 if I did it when I originally booked). And it would have been over $150 if I waited for the airport. WHO THE F CARES WHEN I DECIDE TO CHECK A BAG??? YOU STILL HAVE TO GO TO THE COUNTER NO MATTER WHAT. Jetstar is such a low class airline. Then they wanted to weigh my carry-on which was 9kilo (2k over the limit)... full of all camera gear. The guy literally started yelling at me, made me feel so uncomfortable, and my eyes began to water. He was screaming to another woman in front of everyone that I was WAY over the weight limit and was to be charged $210. He was extremely aggressive. (This was a moment I wish I would have whipped out my phone and took a video... would have gone viral). The woman wasn't any better either. At first she was really aggressive and I hadn't said a word. I just watched them react as if I brought a weapon. She raised her voice at me yelling about the stupid luggage being too heavy.... and at that point I told her that she needed to lower her voice and talk to me like a human (let alone a customer). At that point she did realize that she was being ridiculous and lowered her voice (I might even give her the benefit of the doubt and say the guy may have rattled her). I explained to her that I was carrying expensive camera gear and batteries (which you cannot put in checked luggage) and that I'd be happy to put it in the checked bag (especially since I had extra kilos that I hadn't used). She said I would need to sign a waiver exempting them from being responsible if anything was stolen from my bag. I politely said absolutely not. If you cannot get my luggage to my destination safely then I would happily not get on the plane and walk over to the Air New Zealand desk and buy a ticket. At that point she looked me up and saw how much I flew with them and then decided to let me on the plane. Which mind you, the plane was 75% EMPTY. After all that. Geez. Never again Jetstar. Never again."
Pros: "Few crew members who went out of their way to ease our frustration"
Cons: "Surprise expenses Most people who buy directly through the Jetstar website add baggage allowance. You don't get this option when buying on Kayak. Poor connection and wait time The long layover was annoying, and proved costly, too. You need to buy a Visa in Australia if your layover is longer than 8 hours. Kayak doesn't warn you about this, and so you have to collect your baggage, go through customs, and buy a Visa. In sum, Kayak shouldn't allow you to purchasing strings-attached tickets from this airline."
Cons: "There are no complimentary snacks. Also, we had to pay for the movies. I wish the entertainment was free like on all other airlines."
Pros: "The tickets were cheap, but that's about all that was enticing about this trip, which doesn't say much since we had to pay for everything else."
Cons: "This was the worst budget airline I have ever flown with. We had to pay if we wanted to chose our seats, and then they didn't even give us the seats we paid for! We had to pay for all baggage. We had to pay for food and drinks on a 6+ hour flight. We had to pay for entertainment. And they were terrible about getting our bags out in a timely fashion."
Pros: "I like the Punctuality and the way the plane was loaded- very efficient Plane was very tidy and clean"
Cons: "The menu is mediocre as far as the snacks are concerned. More imagination needed"
Cons: "The woman at the check-in desk was rude and seemed to delight in the fact that she could charge me a LOT of money for my checked bag. (I thought I had reserved a baggage allowance online but apparently hadn't. Instead of at least trying to seem like she was sorry to have to charge me such an exorbitant fee, she was smirking the whole time, as though she was getting some sort of commission on it.) Everything else was more or less standard for a budget airline. My experience with the woman at the check-in desk, and the ridiculous size of the fee--more than I paid for my ticket--have ensured that I will never fly Jetstar again."

Cons: "Our flight was delayed by approximately 1 hour, and there were few announcements about this until fairly late, and the departure billboards were slow to update too. Also, no armrest on my seat's right arm which was a little less comfortsble that it could have been (window seat, emergency exit row)"

Cons: "Everything - they texted me telling me that the flight was delayed, and then I arrived at the gate and told me it left an hour earlier. I have text messages to prove that it was scheduled at 1:30pm, the plane left at 12:35pm and I had already checked in, checking in my suitacase, and the flight left without me and took my suitcase - absolutely ridiculous."

Cons: "Seat was uncomfortable but was more because person behind was large and kept digging their knees into my back. I was also not able to recline my seat because of their large size. I would have happily paid a little extra to be upgraded away from this passenger to ensure a more comfortable flight."

Pros: "USB chargers, flight ran to time and left on time. Very smooth landing."
Cons: "Cost of checked baggage is too high. I also paid for five meals and only received three, and got the fourth only after asking. Could not be bothered fighting over the fifth as there were only four of us travelling and had only accidentally paid for five. After all the costs for add-ons, it's better to pay slightly more for a better carrier."
Pros: "We were on our way from syd to bali and just before we reached ocean we turned around and headed back toward Melbourne. As upset as we were about that situation they were extremely accommodating. They said the Landon strip in Bali had broke so we couldn't land. They Bieber, gave us free coffee, tea and juices and gave us all free onboard entertainment. When we got to Melbourne they had set up free shuttle server and out us all up in a very very nice suite and gave us a voucher for breakfast which was more than enough! Then on our way back to bali they again gave us all free onboard entertainment. Very nice! Loved it!"

Cons: "I felt like I had to pay for so many things as upgrades. To have an aisle seat, I had to pay extra. To take one bag that was less than 20 k, I had to pay extra. I paid extra for in-flight entertainment. My flight from Denpasar to Sydney did not have working entertainment; however, I did not get a refund for my entertainment purchase. The flight from Sydney to Denpasar had complimentary entertainment; again, no refund for the entertainment purchase."

Pros: "I liked nothing other than my very expensive Gold luggage (which seemed like that was what I was paying for) arrive at my destination as expected. I liked nothing about the flight experience."
Cons: "Oh where do I start. I guess check-in at the Sydney airport. Apparently this airline has a very different baggage policy. A policy that is not really readily available for you to see. Customer Service at the counter was horrible including the manager that we talked to. We ended up throwing things in the trash to get our weight down and we were told we changed our baggage weight and lowered our own allowance . How rediculous would that be of us. They even told us we were only allowed 1 carry on which includes our purse and could not be over A certsin weight. For a small carry-on......that is really rediculous. Our luggage cost us $470.00. We had no complimentary food or entertainment for our 8 hour flight. We will NEVER fly this airline again and I hope from reading this review and many others, that you won't either."

Cons: "There appeared to be a patch of somebody's sick, from an earlier flight, ground into the carpet on the aisle directly adjacent to my seat. I did not get down to smell it so I cannot confirm exactly what it was. Regardless, this should not have been left by the cleaning crew and should not have been ignored by the cabin staff. Disgusting! Having paid for an upgraded coach-class seat, I would have expected complimentary water to be offered during a 9-hour flight. Jetstar has taken 'no frills' flying too far."
