Cons: Check-in staff at airport seemed overwhelmed, and unable to prioritize. We had to stand in multiple lines - first the kiosk line to check-in, where we got our boarding passes. BUT since we had not pre-checked luggage online, we had to stand in the VERY long regular check-in line to check-in (again) with baggage. Although I asked at the beginning if we could move ahead in line as our flight was boarding within the hour, they refused. So we got about halfway through the line before they called people on our flight to come to the front. Once we got our bags checked we had to go to the customer service line to actually pay the check-bag fee. another long line. Again I asked if we could go to the front because now our flight was boarding in 30 minutes. After initially suggesting that we would be fine, the attendant did help us get to the front of the line. But combining one line for people who have missed flights/need refunds, etc., with a line for people who just need to pay a fee and move on (so they don't also miss their flight) is just poor management. We did make our flight, and it all worked out fine, but overall really unimpressed by the experience.

Cons: We showed up to the gate for the flight from Sydney to Tasmania, and found out that because our backpacks were over 7 kilograms, we'd have to pay $50 AUD on the spot to check them. We weren't the only ones who had no idea that was coming, and several people were dismayed to find out that had we checked them in online prior to arriving at the airport, it would've been about half that price. My backpack was barely 12 kilograms, and has never required checking on ANY flight prior to that, including small jumper flights. The person working at the gate was really short with everyone who was confused about the charge. On the return flight, in anticipation of having to check my bag again, I checked it in online ahead of time and paid the $27 AUD, only to arrive at the airport and find that they weren't weighing anyone's bags, so it was probably unnecessary. Not happy. They don't offer any complimentary drinks, even water, on the flights. It's like the Australian version of Spirit Airlines: a rip off.

Cons: Jetstar's luggage policy is a scame. Their carry on allowance is very small and I was charged 60 dollars to check a bag I never have to check at the fair. When I landed they couldn't remove the bags because of a storm, so I had to wait extra time for bags I shouldn't have needed to check. They also charge exorbitantly for anything on the flights. The Airport staff stated the internet was a risk and instead put 200 people on buses and drove us 5 hours across a 42C desert. Somehow driving across the desert was safer. The icing on the cake was the Internet stayed up for the next hour prior to our bus ride and within the flight crews crew day. So, we could all have flown home with the Jetstar flight crew who actually flew back to Sydney. Yes missed the fireworks and expensive hotel stay on New Years Eve. Finally, Jetstar rebooked is on a flight to Adelaide then to Sydney so we wouldn’t arrive until 945pm. Pros: Easy, inexpensive flight to Hobart from Sydney.

Cons: Didn't understand baggage policy on-line. At Sydney Domestic airport they did not charge the three of us for the 4 pieces of checked luggage. However, they weighed the carry on luggage at the gate. You were only allowed 7 kilos of carry on or they would charge you. The staff encouraged passengers to carry items on their body so the "carry ons" were within the limits. This worked for us going to Hobart. On the return flight, different story. They charged for the checked baggage and didn't weigh the carry ons. I informed them that how the staff did it in Sydney, but they didn't care & I was charged for the checked baggage. I don't understand how they can have totally different rules for different flights/airports & I was not happy with the fees.

Cons: Boarding was chaotic. They started boarding from the back, which is fine, but never indicated that the forward seats could board and never checked to make sure people were boarding in the proper groups. Terrible process.

Pros: The crew were not particularly friendly. They were somewhat abrupt.

Cons: The crew’s attitude to passengers and manner of communication. The flight was delayed by about 20 to 25 minutes but there were no announcements about it or apologies for the inconvenience.

Pros: I thought that the Captain dealt with the potential issue with the toilet in a very diplomatic manner and deserves an award for not breaking out in laughter. The crew were professional but also very friendly and cheerful.

Cons: Nothing. Credit where credit is due.

Pros: Boarding from back and front of plane. Crew was nice.

Cons: Booked from the US and didn't realize it was a no frills airline that charges for seat selection in advance then once at the airport they weigh your carryon. If it's over 7.9kgs then you pay extra. Once on b p ard you pay for ANY refreshments.

Pros: California

Cons: Do not checkin well in advance of the flight. They assign seats from the back of the cabin. The later the checkin the further forward your seats will be.

Pros: Good value flight.

Cons: Flight was delayed and then put into stack in Sydney - but given the Sydney weather over the weekend maybe that was to be expected. Flight crew could be more aware of annoying teenagers and others being disruptive in the cabin and painful for other passengers.

Prices are per person, are for e–tickets and include all taxes & fees in AUD.

We attempt to get accurate prices, however, prices are not guaranteed.

Here's why:

We’re not the seller.
At KAYAK we don’t set the prices, so it’s not possible for us to guarantee what other companies are selling.

We compile tonnes of data for you
Our service lets you quickly and easily compare results from hundreds of travel sites at once. In this sense, KAYAK is a search engine and we can't guarantee prices we find.

Why aren’t prices accurate 100% of the time?
Prices on airline seats, hotel rooms and car hires can change frequently. Several people may also be trying to buy the same travel option simultaneously. As a result, you may find, on occasion, that certain prices are no longer available.

If you have more questions or if you have a bad price to report to us,
please send us an and someone from our team will get back to you promptly.
