Cons: "Asked specifically at the ticketing counter not to be seated in a non-emergency row. Were seated in an emergency row. For a 12 hour flight with seats that don't recline and nothing the on-board staff could do about the ticket counter's negligence and bad faith other than apologize. Seated upright for an overnight flight (for the second time on the same trip) for 12 hours. Not a pleasant experience. Had a feeling ANA would be bush league. This trip confirmed those suspicions. It wasn't the crew's fault (though they, unfortunately bore the brunt of my displeasure) so much as the counter's fault, but airlines charging what they are shouldn't be putting passengers or crew in this position. The ticket counter folks literally mislead us. They specifically told us that these were not emergency row seats and that we would have reclining seats and seatback displays in front of us like everyone else. The entire reason I asked is because we got stuck in the last row on the way in with seats that don't recline, which blows for a 12 hour red-eye flight. Instead we got seats that did not recline and a fold out screen that came from the right-hand arm rest. Not the end of the world if one had no choice, but certainly not what I paid for and certainly not what the ticketing counter people stated we were getting (under specific inquiry about the very point). The ticketing counter in particular seems to be skeevy, at best. To the detriment of their own crew, who is left apologizing for things they can do nothing about. As stated, this is a bush league international carrier. Avoid unless you love sleepless nights crossing the international dateline..."

Boarding process experience can be improve with better sign for the queing lines and have boarding crew station at end of every quing lines to make sure all passengers are queing in the correct line."

I used to every time get excited to fly with Thai. this time i had two Thai connections between Tokyo - Bankgkok and Bangkok-Delhi, both times my two young minor children were automatically seated away from me and each other also during checkin process. it took a lot of time and convincing the agent to get my own children seated with me on long international flights! Food service was worse than expect for name of Thai airways!"

Even more so when the food (though very Japanese) was quite good quality in economy. If you have to spend 10 hours or more crossing an ocean ANA is certainly a good bet, at least if you don't mind a bento box style meal."

But when the ANA agents came out, they have no clue and serve the line of the people arriving later. Should know what they are doing. We were advised they changed us to a bulkhead row w/an unoccupied seat adjacent to his. Twice during the flight one of the flight attendants came to tell him that she would help him off the plane so to wait for her after the rest of the passengers disembarked. The meal was very tasty.Chicken karaage was not crispy but I wouldn't expect it to be. The rest of the items were well seasoned with the right consistency. Dessert was a flan custard with passion fruit sauce (very Hawaii!), even including a few seeds from the fruit as garnish."

If they didn't do this, it would be left to the passengers to ask the person in front of them to raise the seat or have to struggle to eat with that person's seat close to your face. Having the crew do that was great. That is another thing nice with this Hawaiiian aircraft. The seats actually have leg room in econonmy and they recline enough to rest. Don't change that! Also very nice is that you get a complementary wine or beer with your meal :-)"
Cons: "Entertainment options felt like 'nickel and diming'. It is a 5+ hour flight and all the seats have personal entertainment consoles. The only thing is you have to pay ~$7 to watch any of the movies. Be sure to have your book or device loaded up before flight. Each seat has a USB charging port :-), however it only has low amps - this means you can't charge things like a tablet :-(."

In that Hawaiian Airlines seems to market itself as a very conscientious and customer-friendly airlines, any evolution in this direction would be welcome."

Pros: "I have been traveling at least 4 times in a year for last 20 years. I never had such a worst staff specially the Msnager of Fiji airline ground staff at Sydney airport named Christopher. Such a rude ignorant person. The amount of luggage including baby stroller I traveled from Los Angeles to Nadi. Nadi to Sydney was perfectly fine. When I checkin from Sydney to los angles, the Fiji manager said you have to pay for stroller. I said I came all the way from Los Angeles to Sydney like that and I even showed the tags too, Christopher said Sydney has different policy. I left the stroller to him and Saud to him keep it for your kids and came back home without baby stroller."

Pros: "I traveled with my 4 children and my husband. Out of Honolulu the flight is scheduled very late so i had extemely exhausted children. The gate agents were so very helpful and so compassionate, especially because my 4 month old baby was crying. They stepped up and helped me with my other kids as my husband was out looking for water to make a bottle for him. Awesome awesome service! The crew was very nice and helpful when we were all sleeping. Did not bother us once and they let us sleep. Unfortunately I did not try their food service but my husband said it was delicious. The only thing was that they only offered a couple of movies via some small screen at the ceiling of plane making it hard for my 5 yo daughter to watch anything ultimately relying on their tablets which dies early. Overall, from check in to touch down, it was a very pleasant flight! Oh! And the blankets were so soft!!"

Cons: "They were a minimum 45 minutes late (one 2 hour, 2 one hour) for every flight. Their running late caused us to miss our connection to Brisbane, so they sent us to Sydney. The ,late flight into Sydney cause us to miss our flight into Brisbane (our ticketed destination city). As we de-planed on the Jetway was a woman holding a sign with 12 - 114 names on it, we were one. She told us to go the the transfer desk and they would help us. We had never been in Sydney, could not find a transfer desk (there was none) found the ticketing counter - nobody there, found the airline office - nobody there, went back to the ticket counter nobody still there, asked a competing airline, they directed us to an air travel management office, where we found Fiji Air personnel. They were surprised we were not told where to go. they tracked down the office manager. We finally met with him at 1:40 PM, he told us our flight was in the domestic terminal and scheduled to leave at 2:00 PM. There was no way we could make it to the plane on time. He was rather rude to us and asked us how we thought we were getting to Brisbane, We responded with "I don't know as we've never been here before". Having never been there. we did not know there was an international and a domestic terminal at the Sydney airport. He told us who we were to fly out on and he was going to call over to the other airline and straighten it out. We went to the domestic terminal tried to check in for our flight, but we could not. That airline called Fiji Air to find out why, after half an hour they were told Fiji Air would not honor our flight as we were noted as "no Shows"/. We had to book another flight to Brisbane. The flights were great, we have had VERY BAD EXPERIENCES with the ground personnel,"

Pros: "Loved the soft good quality complintary blankets they had available for us on every seat as well as pillow. Really made it feel homey and comfortable. Probably the best airline meal I’ve had. It was like a creamy mushroom chicken with mashed potatoes, cheese wedge, crackers, etc."

Pros: "Our flight to NAN was delayed five hours ; however, when we came to the check-in desk, they knew immediately who we were and informed us of a change. The staff at the desk [a man and a woman] were extremely helpful and verified a change would be acceptable and they put in all of the work to make it happen - we returned an hour later and they had switched us to a flight from SYD - SFO - LAX on Qantas airlines. Things from there went off without a hitch ; while our departure time was still 5 hours later, we arrived to the US earlier than we would have on the SYD-NAN-LAX flight."
Cons: "The five hour delay ; however one cannot have qualms with inclement weather."

Pros: "This flight was cancelled due to storms in the Pacific. Fiji Airways put passengers into a hotel and paid for meals."

Cons: "Cancelled the flight going to Christmas Island and wouldn’t reschedule until the following week. Trip that was planned for almost 2 years never happened. At least they could have tried the following day but I guess it was a financial decision and not one made with customer service in mind. I would never fly on them except they’re the only game in town to reach Kiribati."

Cons: "For the last couple of times I have used Fiji airways they are horrible. So strict! Would let me bring on grey goose which I bought a duty free in Los Angeles... They made me throw it out. Then they try to find any little thing wrong if it's with your bag, or carry whatever they try to make you pay for EVERYTHING! they were about to take away my 3 liquids which was less than 3 ounces because it wasn't in a plastic bag. ALL OF THE OTHER AIRLINES I HAVE USED HAVE NEVER DONE THIS! So I had to leave security go back outside. Come back in and get a plastic bag. If your bag is even a pound over weight, regardless of the fact if you really can't pay it. They won't be nice and help you out at all like some other airlines do for example Air New Zealand, AA, I could go on. Also, more than half of the staff are so condescending and rude, they like refuse to be nice and help out a passenger. If I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO AND AS A LAST RESORT then I would use Fiji. But for right now I will NEVER USE THEM. And I will suggest to my family and friends not to use the airline!!"
